Our goal is to form competitive teams that will participate at the highest level possible. We will do our best to find the appropriate fit for your son’s ability and talent level that will allow him to grow as a player. This means there are times we may not have a team that fits what you are looking for based on the numbers at tryouts and the talent that is there. Teams will start practice in mid to late April and the season will run through the first couple of weeks in June. Fees include:

Elite teams will play in one or two more tournaments and will pay a higher fee. This option will be discussed at tryouts. Please bring a check for your team fees to tryouts. If your child does not make a team the check will be returned. Team placement will not happen without payment. As we rebrand to Legacy Hoops, we will have both West and East metro teams. Our Legacy Hoops West teams will be based out of our Hopkins facility, and our Legacy Hoops East teams will consist of teams based out of our Woodbury location. Our focus for all of our AAU teams is skill development, exposure, relationship building, and having fun. We think it is important to maintain a level of competitiveness without sacrificing the core values of kids having fun in the process. Workout/Tryouts will be $10 per session you sign up for. All participants planning to attend tryouts must register online. We ask that each player bring a reversible jersey or shirt with a number on it so we can identify each player. We will start check-ins 20 minutes prior to tryouts so we can start on time. Parents will NOT be allowed to stay in the gym, or lobby, during tryouts at either location. We will ONLY make calls to players who MAKE THE TEAM. If your daughter makes a team you will be notified the day of or the following day by midnight. If you do not accept the spot within 24hrs, it will be offered to someone else. Once you accept a spot on a team, we will collect a $250 deposit the day of accepting the spot or the following day to hold your roster spot. No spot is saved until the deposit is paid. All parents will make additional monthly payments to cover total balance before the first tournament. For the 2023 season, fees for grades 3-11 ranged from $500-$1,300, and varied according to the number of roster spots, tournaments, out-of-state tournaments, and other factors. We do not pay for travel expenses for out of state tournaments or AAU cards. Uniforms will be included in the fees and will be collected at the end of the season. In order to secure your roster spot, we will collect a team deposit of $250 once a commitment is made and the remaining fees will be paid before the first tournament. Half of team fees are due by January 31st. No exceptions! If fees are not paid, roster spots will not be protected, spots can be replaced and athletes will not be able to play. We will offer payment plans to help in any way we can, but you must communicate your financial need prior to, or upon, accepting a roster spot. PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO REFUNDS once a commitment is made to accept a roster spot, including the deposit as well as other payments made towards the team fees. TournamentsTournament play will begin in April. We plan to have final schedules set once we have fully evaluated teams, but no later than March 1st. There will be between 5-10 tournaments. The number of tournaments will vary by age and level of team. Teams will play locally, regionally and nationally according to age and level of the team. Tournaments can be added as the season progresses per coach and player commitment. Practice ScheduleThe Spring/Summer AAU season practices will begin in March. Each team will practice on average two times per week. Each practice will range from 90-120 minutes unless the team coach schedules differently. Most practices will be held on weeknights. Practice locations will be at the 43 Hoops Basketball Academy (Hopkins), Legacy Hoops Academy (Woodbury), Hopkins HS/Junior HS, and possibly other locations in the surrounding area according to how much space is needed. We will have the official nights of practice set no later than March 1st. *Unless communicated with the coach, it is very important that players are committed and consistently attend practices in order to get the proper playing time, etc. This includes those playing other sports. How do I start playing AAU?To start an AAU basketball team, meaning just a competitive travel basketball team, all you have to do is get 8-10 players, a coach, pick a team name, buy some uniforms, and then enter a tournament. That's it. You're done.
Is it hard to play AAU basketball?AAU basketball is VERY competitive, so players and teams will come across other AAU programs with players that are better than them. This means there will be tough losses and tough games individually.
