All of Us Are Dead Cheong-san death

Cheong-san lives with his parents who run a Chicken restaurant, in which he was named after. He's close friends with Nam On-jo and Han Gyeong-Su, and mutual friends with Yoon I-sak. He has a funny argument with his mom over the name of his family's restaurant the night before the zombie outbreak. He very obviously (to the viewers and Lee Su-hyeok) had a crush on On-jo, but never fully admitted to it until mid series.

Post-Apocalypse

At the start of the outbreak, he was in the cafeteria along with On-jo. During the chaos in there, he and On-jo were able to escape from there using the side windows along with a few other students. Later, they would flee through the school and eventually reach their classroom where other surviving classmates where.

During the time the group was hiding in the broadcasting room, he and Su-hyeok climbed down the windows in order to reach the teachers' office and retrieve a cellphone in order to call for help. However, they encountered Eun-ji who was smashing the phones and attempted to attack them when she noticed Cheong-san reaching for a cellphone, but Su-hyeok defended him. The screams of Eun-ji drew more zombies in the room, separating him and Su-hyeok (though he was able to grab a cellphone and flee). Later, he would enter the principal's office and record Gwi-nam murdering the principal, leading him to be chased by Gwi-nam. The chase would end when Cheong-san ran into the library and was able to gouge Gwi-nam's eye off and throw him into the zombies. After that, when he attempted to make a call, the cell services where cut in Hyosan by the military, he would eventually hide in the music room and the group would find him there during their drone exploration.

Lee Cheong-san was able to survive till peak apocalypse. He took many heroic jumps during his time inside and outside of the school. He also took a leadership role in many situations, but mainly left it to Su-hyeok. He was very brave and never let a tough situation mess with his mindset. Cheong-san's main goal throughout the entire series was to protect On-jo, his love interest. Most of his decisions were based purely off his feelings for On-jo. She initially rejects him but after he saw his zombified mother, she confronted him and grew closer to him romantically. He also ends up in an ongoing fight with his arch nemesis, Yoon Gwi-nam.

After Gwi-nam bit him, he lured the zombies away in the incomplete construction site and allowed his friends to escape. After evading the zombies, he fought Gwi-nam, but lost as Gwi-nam managed to gouge Cheong-san's eye in revenge. When the military bombed the school, Cheong-san grabbed Gwi-nam and used him as a shield before jumping into a elevator shaft as the flames consumed both of them. Their bodies are never clearly seen after the bombing, indicating they (or he) may still be alive.

Physical Appearance

Cheong-san has a semi-muscular build. He has short black hair that jaggedly reaches his eyebrows. His eyes are black and his eyes are very emotionally telling. He has a dimple on his right cheek (our left). He wears a green vest with a red name tag stitched on the upper right-hand side. There's a white button up below the vest and he has on dark green plaid pants.

Personality and Traits

Lee Cheong-san was well built and humorous like his friends. He was good at fighting like Lee Su-hyeok, but rarely showed it. He was also a very fast runner, shown when he was able to outrun On-jo, who cheated and used the elevator, and multiple zombies in the hallway. He helped his friends, and stayed behind to save them, showing his true loyalty. Cheong-san volunteers himself to do the more "daring" tasks the group needs done to survive. He rarely second-guesses himself and most, if not all, of his decisions are respectable.

Cheong-san managed to survive a lot of dangerous moments in the action-packed K-drama, but at the eleventh episode, he was bitten and ultimately infected by his former classmate/bully, Gwi-nam (Yoo In-soo). In order to escape the construction site infested by zombies, Cheong-san sacrifices himself by luring the pack away from his friends.

Thanks to Cheong-san, his friends were able to escape to the mountains, but the South Korean military dropped a bomb on the school to prevent the infection from spreading further, and Cheong-san's body was seen among the dead zombies. While it appears as though Cheong-san didn't survive the explosion, fan theories surfaced, questioning if he actually died.

When On-jo returns to high-school with Su-hyeok and Nam-ra, but Cheong-san is nowhere to be found. Nam-ra, with her special half-zombie senses, tells On-jo that she doesn't smell anyone in the school.

There are various theories you can find on social media, including a fan's TikTok video that claims that when Cheong-san fell down with Gwi-nam, he was safe because there was a pile of zombies on top of him, protecting him from the bomb's explosion. It's likely that he also used Gwi-nam as a shield since his relentless nemesis was on top of him in their final scene together.

One fan suggests that Cheong-san got the ultimate revenge on Gwi-nam, and actually survived. "I saw that theory on tiktok omg what if cheong-san is alive, like i thought he saved gwi-nam from the fire but he made gwi-nam as his shield and remember what nam-ra said before she jump?? she said that there are hambie or half zombies there and ++."

In the finale, Nam-ra (Cho Yi-hyun), who appears to have controlled his half-zombie condition, tells his friends that there are other half zombies or "hambies" left. Could one of them be Cheong-san? Like Nam-ra, was bitten by Gwi-nam, a half zombie, but the show didn't reveal if Cheong-san actually turned to be a full zombie or half zombie.

Does Yoon Chan-young know if his character is alive?

No, the actor admitted that he doesn't know about his character's fate after the finale of the zombie thriller. In a recent interview with Soompi, Yoon detailed how he was cast in All of Us Are Dead and his character's fate after the finale. Fans were quick to speculate that his character, Cheong-san, somehow survived the bombing. Fans theorized that Cheong-san survived as he was not seen becoming a zombie before his supposed death.

“I was actually asked about whether Cheong-san died or not in another interview recently. To be honest, I don’t know. I haven’t heard about what happens next, and nothing has been decided yet. Personally, I’d like to live. I’d like to be able to say things that I didn’t get to say,” explained Yoon.

Will All of Us Are Dead Season 2 reveal if Cheong-san is still alive?

Netflix already renewed All of Us Are Dead for Season 2, and director Lee Jae-kyoo has an idea of what kind of story Season 2 will tell.

Speaking to The Korean Herald, Lee said, "Many directions, settings, and scenes were intentionally produced to expand the story into an additional season, including the introduction of the new races of zombies." He continued, "If the first season can be seen as having presented humanity‘s survival, the next season can talk about the survival of zombies. I hope to present viewers with another season."

It looks like the writers intended to make the ending of Cheong-san's story ambiguous for his possible return in Season 2. It would be interesting to see him team-up with Nam-ra and his friends once again to fight a bigger threat.
