Some tingle, some shine, and some shimmer — but one thing all tinted lip balms should do is hydrate. And while there are some days when we want ultra-pigmented, matte color, sometimes there's nothing better than a barely-there balm with a hint of sheen. Pixi by Petra's LipGlows help soften lips upon contact, thanks to shea butter and mango seed butter, and impart a glossy-but-natural finish that'll make you forget about your lipsticks. Pick up all three shades: Juicy, Fleur, and Ruby (pictured above), since you never know what mood will strike you.

Dior's Lip Glow does it all, and it comes in six luxurious shades (Pink Glow is pictured above) for the moisturized lips you crave. It doesn't get fancier than an ultra-dewy, Bella Hadid-approved lip balm that imparts the fairest wash of rosy tint that morphs with your lips' pH levels for a unique shade of pink. 

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm has the brand's famous beeswax for hydration, plus shea butter and plant oils for a slicker texture. And the reddish-plum hue of the shade Red Dahlia stains lips with just enough sheer berry color to make them look flushed and healthy. E.L.F.'s Ride or Die Lip Balms are infused with rose oil and vegan collagen to repair dry, cracked lips and the perfect sheen of berry, caramel, or orange color — what a sweet treat.

Ceramides and hyaluronic acid in the formula treat dry lips while this balm's subtle shimmer adds a little pizzazz. What's not to love?

There's one element in particular that makes Glow Recipe's Watermelon Lip Pop stand out in the sea of tinted lip balms. When it comes to sun protection, you can't skimp on your lips. Luckily, Coola's Mineral Liplux Organic Tinted Lip Balm Sunscreen has SPF 30, thanks to zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. And if that's not a good-enough benefit for you, it's also loaded up with cupuaçu butter and mongongo oil to keep lips soft and smooth, and it's water-resistant for up to 40 minutes. Pat McGrath Labs's Lip Fetish Sheer Color Balm in Love Supreme can only be described as major. But then again, did we expect anything less? Certainly not. With six sheer tinted shades and five glimmering "Astrals" shades, you've got your pick of demure and disco.

Honest Beauty Tinted Lip Balms claim to lock in moisture for up to eight hours, due to a lineup of nourishing avocado oil, antioxidant-rich açai, and anti-inflammatory pomegranate oil. If you're a fan of Clinique's original Chubby Stick, the odds are you'll also love the Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm (shown in Curviest Caramel), which is like its slightly more pigmented cousin.
