Quentin Tarantino's ninth film was received with universal acclaim upon its release. As of February 2020 it has an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It was a favourite during awards season and it boasts some tremendous performances and mesmerising visuals.
The movie is set during the 60s and plays like a love letter to the golden age of Hollywood. The story focuses on Rick Dalton, former star of a western TV series, and his long-time stunt double, Cliff Booth. The two are struggling to make it in a place they don't really recognise anymore, as it's undergoing significant changes. At the same time, Rick has a very famous neighbour: Sharon Tate.
Nominated for multiple awards, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood won Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Screenplay at the Golden Globes. It also brought Brad Pitt a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. All in all, it should definitely be on your watchlist.
