Holderness family we dont talk about covid

The Holderness Family, known for their timely parody videos, just released a relatable new clip about COVID-19 to the beat of that Encanto song no one can get out of their head.

From nonstop alerts from the school to debating testing protocols and quarantine time frames, omicron has delivered parents an onslaught of headaches. Leave it to the Holderness Family, YouTube stars who produce memorable viral videos complete with dancing and parody lyrics, to come up with a clip that sums up what life looks right now for anyone who's just trying to live and send their kid to school.

Titled "We Don't Talk About COVID," the video explores the bizarre moment we're currently living through in which "half the school" might have COVID-19 but students are expected to keep showing up.

Set to the tune of Lin-Manuel Miranda's "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from the hit Disney flick Encanto, dad Penn and mom Kim lament seeing cases spike "off the page," having trouble finding tests, and being unsure about a possible exposure. And yet, they feel like they have no choice but to sweep the situation "under the rug," hand their kids their lunches, and see what happens.

"We are all just trying to do the best we can," sings Penn. "Isn't everyone, man?" And then, Kim chimes in with, "We're doing the best we can. But isn't it weird everybody's getting it? But we're like, 'Eh. Keep it movin'!"

Absent from the clip are the Raleigh, North Carolina family's two kids, Lola and Penn Jr., who were probably at school while the video was shot.

Since going up last week, the clip has over 700K views. And it's no wonder, given how—unfortunately—relatable the Holderness Family's experience is. Not to mention that everyone's rightfully obsessed with Encanto. Once again, Penn and Kim capture the zeitgeist of parenting.

Here's hoping the rest of the year includes plenty of Encanto and far fewer COVID-19 cases.

Positive cases are rising. Omicron is leading every news telecast. People are calling out sick due to symptoms.

So then why aren't we talking about COVID? One North Carolina family decided to channel Disney's "Encanto" to get to the bottom of it.

"In 2020, there was one case in our town and we shut everything down," said Kim Holderness of The Holderness Family. "Now, we're getting blown up with alerts from our kids' schools about teachers and students that are sick and we're just like 'OK, here's your lunch!'"

"Isn't it weird?" her husband, Penn Holderness added.

How did that happen?:'We Don't Talk About Bruno' from 'Encanto' is now a Top 5 hit on the charts.

Channeling the top-5 hit song "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from the recent Disney animated film, the Holderness family flipped the script with "We Don't Talk About COVID" as they explore this new world with the virus.

"Bruno" has become a "Frozen"-style phenomenon with the song currently at No. 1 on Spotify's U.S. Top 50 chart, as well as topping YouTube Music's songs and music videos charts. According to TikTok, more than 146,000 fan videos have been created using the track, racking up over 469 million views (and counting).

"We don't know how to act because they say the strain's not as bad so we just all kind of move along," Penn sings in the music video before asking. "Should we really just move along?"

Cases rise in NC:COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations set records in Cumberland County, health officials say

In Cumberland County, COVID-19 cases and those hospitalized with the disease has reached record levels in Cumberland County, health officials said Tuesday.

According to the county's health director Jennifer Green, nearly 3,000 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last seven days, with cases now running at about 300 to 400 per day.

"Anyway, the morale of this song is to watch 'Encanto,'" Penn ends the video with a laugh.

Kim and Penn Holderness of The Holderness Family parodied Disney's Encanto animation film's catchy "We Don't Talk About Bruno" tune into a song about COVID-19.

In the parody song, titled "We Don't Talk About COVID," the Holderness couple put into words all the weirdness about the current Covid situation that we're all thinking about, but ... well, don't talk about. It's the white elephant in the room.

If you're a parent of school age children, this part of the lyrics probably hit the nail on the head:

If ya not super sick or you been on a ship
After 5 days I guess you are fine
Then our kids went to school
And I guess that it's all cool
Half their friends are out sick
But they don't close the school
Like they used to do
They just kind of don't talk about it ...
