After getting your 120th star in Super Mario 64, you will have the opportunity to meet Yoshi in the game on the top of Peach's castle. If you've already gotten your 120 stars, and beat Bowser, and want to meet Yoshi but have no idea how, then move on to step one below. Here are some methods you can use to do that.
-
1
Make sure that you have gotten all 120 stars that are in the game and that you have beaten the third Bowser.
-
2
Go outside in the grass of the Castle Grounds. Once you are there, from Peach's castle, head down and straight ahead to the area that has yellow ground as well as water.

Notice the cannon that is over there. You probably may have noticed that you may have seen while playing outside the Castle Grounds, but couldn't use (because it had a grating over it's opening) will now already be in use. earlier in the game, because you haven't gotten all of the stars. If you currently have all 120, the grate over the top should be gone and the cannon should now be open.

Get into the cannon.
-
5
Aim for the roof. Don't aim for the very top. But instead aim at the little flat bit at the sides of the huge spire at the top of castle. Remember, Mario does not have a straight trajectory and is a fast faller, so be sure that you aim the cannon a little bit higher, as if he slides or falls off of the castle, he will either lose a lot of health or die.
-
6
Press the a button on your controller once you're aimed to shoot Mario out of the cannon.
-
7
Know that if you managed to get to the top of the roof, you will meet Yoshi. He will give you a special message from Shigeru Miyamoto, Mario's creator, to you, the player, give you an extra hundred lives, and he'll make your triple jump sparkly.

Know that this is the official end of the game. There are no other extra worlds to go to, or other free gifts. With the exception of the big penguin in Cool Cool Mountain becoming huge for Big Penguin Race, there are also no other big surprises. Therefore, congratulations, you can celebrate because you beat the game and met Yoshi in Super Mario 64!

If you'd like to get even more extra lives by the wall of the roof, there are a few more surrounding the wall area on the top of the castle.
Use this jump to go to secret areas in the levels that you weren't able to access earlier in the game, and get extras.
If you'd like to meet Yoshi earlier in the game, you can wall jump towards the left area of the castle, and start wall kicking. Although it will take some time, you should be able to eventually make it to the top of the castle and there you will find Yoshi.

Note that if you are playing Super Mario 64 DS, you will be unable to meet Yoshi, as he is playable in the game. You will also need 150 stars (as opposed to the 120 in the Nintendo 64 game.) for the cannon to open so that you can get to the top of the roof of the Castle.
