My friends and I want to try and play this game as one big group but know the game needs balancing before then. I have played this game a few times now and wanted to try my hand at some house rules. I wrote down a few changes that I thought would make a potential 8 player game work. Feed back is appreciated.

Work together

You and your friends must figure out how to defeat the undead legions before confronting the final boss—or bosses.

Earn souls

Successfully take down an enemy and you'll be rewarded with souls. Use those souls to buy gear and level up your character. You'll need it for the final encounter.

Die to move forward

As you play, you'll learn the attacks and weaknesses of your enemies, but you'll die in the process. Death is the only way to play extra encounters, earn more souls, and buy more treasure. But when one of you dies, you all respawn at the nearest bonfire.

Lose your spark

When you respawn, you begin again. All souls are dropped and the table is reset. You also lose a spark from the bonfire. When all the sparks are gone, it's game over.

Learn from your mistakes

Not for the fainthearted, this game rewards tactical skill and players who learn from their mistakes.

Preserve your resources, manage your stamina, and prepare to die.

Could the next encounter be your last?

Enemies

Earn souls by fighting your way through heavily armed Silver Knights, zombied Hollow Soldiers, and huge Sentinels.

Mini Bosses

At the start of the game, choose which mini boss you'll fight when you reach the Fog Gate. Will it be the Boreal Outrider Knight, Gargoyle, Titanite Demon, or the Winged Knight?

Main Bosses

Choose which main boss you'll face in your final battle. Will it be the swift Dancer of the Boreal Valley, or the dreaded Ornstein & Executioner Smough?

Levels and Upgrades

To win, you must defeat the main boss—but the equipment you start with won't be enough. To stand a chance, you'll need to upgrade your equipment and level up your characters. And to do that, you'll need to spend souls.

Face terrifying boss enemies controlled by clever AI

Explore the dungeon

Once you've chosen your characters, mini boss, and main boss, it's time to enter the dungeon.

Random encounters

In the dungeon, you'll face four random encounters with the Silver Knights, Hollow Soldiers, and Sentinels. Fight them in whatever order you like to earn those precious souls.

Rest at the bonfire

After facing the mini boss, your party can rest at the bonfire. Here, you can visit the Firekeeper to level up, and the Blacksmith to upgrade your gear. Now, are you ready to face the final boss?

Unpredictable bosses

When you finally take on a boss enemy, expect the unexpected. Each one is controlled by a unique AI deck that's randomly generated before every battle. Halfway through the battle, the deck is shuffled and a deadly new attack is added in.

Dark Souls: The Board Game is about fast setup and long reveal. True to the video game, you'll need to be strategic and cleverly manage your stamina to survive. Learn when to be bold and when to hold back. And prepare to die.
