Patrick Romero: Flossing the Sky
When the air inside the balloon gets hotter than the air outside, it gains altitude. As the air inside the balloon becomes cooler than the outside air, the balloon loses altitude. Winds differ between altitudes, so pilots move between layers to move the balloon forward, backward, and sideways.
How are balloons inflated?Once the balloon is laid out, a fan is used to push air through its mouth. When the fabric is partially inflated, the burners are lit. As the burners push hot air into the balloon, it fills to the point of standing up.
Are there any requirements to participate?Passengers must at least be in fair physical condition and able to stand for at least an hour. Participants must weigh less than 250 lbs, at least 5 years of age, and over 44 inches tall to see over the basket.

The Ultimate Social Media Background
Conveniently, there is full cell service in the air. The hot air balloon is the perfect place to “go live”, record your stories, and snap the ultimate pic high above the desert landscape, with an unobstructed view. Unlike an airplane, or the cramped space inside of a helicopter, our hot air balloons provide you with a 360° view of our flying area. Even when we reach heights of 10,000 feet or more, you’ll still have cell service!

Meet Your Pilots
Cameron
Born and raised in the world capital of ballooning (Albuquerque, NM), Cameron jumped in a basket at a very young age and received his pilot license at just 17 years of age. At 19, he was already a part of the Junior US National Team and participated at 2018 Junior World Championships. Considered as the most promising talent of the country, Cameron is enjoying flying in the Mojave Desert when he is not preparing for his next big hot air balloon competition.
Jean-François "Jeff"
Our French-born pilot comes from a ballooning family and experienced his first flight at only 3 years old. After being part of the 2008 Hot Air Balloon World Champion Team, he decided to fly balloons all over the world. Known for his flights above the Alps, the African Savanna, or the European forests, Jeff settled in the Mojave Desert where he has been our lead pilot since 2019.
Casey
After learning how to fly with his father in Indiana, Casey began his commercial career very young, and became the chief pilot at Vegas Balloon Rides in 2015. His impressive resume opened the doors to his dream job, flying above the savanna in Kenya. Now one of Africa’s most experienced pilots, Casey enjoy spending some time off with his former friends in this desert he loves so much.
