L33 weight ?
Does anyone know how much an all aluminum engine weigh as opposed to a cast iron 5.3 or 4.8? I have done sporadic searches the last few days with no success.

Aluminum LS block is supposed to be about 90-100lbs lighter than the iron LS block

By our shipping scale at the shop, from memory:
aluminum 5.7 LS6 with main caps: 82lb
iron 6.0 with main caps: 162lb.
iron LSX with caps prior to boring: 248lb
L33 has similar sleeve OD and block features as the LS6, but the L33 sleeves are .060 thicker to produce the smaller bore, so add a few pounds versus the LS6. If you bore it to 3.90" then it probably weighs within a pound of LS6. Likewise, the 5.3 and 4.8 have thicker cylinder walls than the 6.0 (though not the same OD), and they also have the DOD bosses in the valley, so I'll make a rough guess that the 5.3/4.8 weighs 6-10lb. more than the 6.0 shown above.

I am looking for the complete assembly weight of the L33(complete with fuel injection trim). Like a gen1 complete iron SBC engine weighs about 620 lbs

It should be within a couple lbs of an ls1, which I just found claimed at 481lbs with accessories, wiring and computer.

Got the LS-1 motor weighed today with all the accesories attached (A/C, P/S, Alt, wiring harness, ECM; etc. Believe it or not it weighed in at 481-LBS !!!

VORTEC IRON BLOCK 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 = 580LBS
VORTEC ALUMINUM BLOCK 5.3L L33 = 500LBS
6.0L LQ9 with 3 Piece Engine Covers
Typical 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 Truck Engine with 1 Piece engine cover
This is a standard 4.8, 5.3, or 6.0 without the Cover AND an F-Body oil pan.
For comparison here is a typical LS1, LS6, etc. Camaro / Corvette engine with car intake and accessories
Here are some traditional transmissions. The 4L60 is the same as the 700R4

ive been looking everywhere for solid numbers on engine weights. im trying to get the dry weight of the engines. LM7 = iron block 5.3 LM4/L33 = aluminum block 5.3
im planning something different in a new car we are building and would like to start with a lower displacement/cost platform than a LSx.
