Melee weapon is always a part of a Super Animal's inventory. It requires no ammunition to use, provides the fastest on-foot movement speed when equipped, and can cut

 Tall Grass, slash

Crates and

Egyptian Pots to potentially reveal pickups. Each successful hit to an enemy will remove one point of

  Armor, or deal 33 damage to Super Animals without armor. Melee attacks also have penetration, and thus bypass 50% of armor (or 16.5 damage).

The default keyboard key to switch to the melee weapon is 3.

Zombie Joes do not have a visible Melee weapon, instead they use claws that share most attributes of a Melee weapon.
