Want to know where the glow squids are in Minecraft? It’s one of the newer Minecraft mobs that arrived in the Minecraft 1.17 update and is a variant on the regular squid that, aside from its sparkly appearance, doesn’t do much except look pretty. They bimble along without a care in the world, well, that is until you accidentally hit them like the monster you are.
Minecraft glow squids are worth tracking, as these jazzy cephalopods drop glow ink sacs. These sacs have only a handful of cosmetic uses, mostly illuminating text on signs. Nevertheless, the effect does make the text stand out, particularly useful if some hooligan mob somehow dislodges your torches. In any case, there’s nothing wrong with a sparkly sign.
So if you really want to get your hands on the glow ink sacs, we’ll tell you where to go to find the Minecraft glow squids, how you can use the glow ink sacs on your signs, and how to change them back to normal if you tire of their glowing effect.
Glow squid locations
You can find glow squid underwater in dark places or in Minecraft Lush Caves. They don’t attack you but will dim whenever you attack them. Killing glow squid nets you one to three glow ink sacs.
Glow ink sac recipes
You can use the glow ink sac to make glow item frames by mixing one glow ink sac with an item frame in the crafting menu. Additionally, you can use glow ink sacs on signs to make any text brighter or regular ink sacs on the signs with glowing text to revert the glowing text to normal.
And, surprisingly, that’s everything to know about Minecraft glow squid. It’s a simple yet cute creature of the deep. Sure they’re nowhere near as fascinating as the axolotls or as charming as the goats, but at the very least, they’re not going to be as terrifying as the Warden coming in the Minecraft 1.19 The Wild update, alongside everything else!

level 1
just press L2 or LT on the sign while holding the glow ink sack
level 2
I figured it out! For me I was using the § symbol to get color on a sign and then try and out glow squid sac on but you literally HAVE to use a dye on a sign first and then glow squid ink
level 1
Put a glow squid ink sac and an item frame into a crafting table. Oops. You said signs. That requires clicking the sign with the sac
level 2
Is there an equivalent for Touch devices? I can’t figure how.

2. Importance of the § symbol
Before we enter the text for our sign, we need to take a moment to explain the importance of the § symbol.
Color and formatting is added to signs using the § symbol in Bedrock Edition (PE, Win10, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch). There are 16 different colors available and 4 formatting options that you can choose from.
The following is the list of color codes and format codes that you can use for signs in Bedrock Edition:

§bColoredExample #2
Using multiple color codes changes the color for each letter:
§cC§6o§el§ao§brExample #3
Using format codes such as §l can set the text to bold:
§bhi §lhiNote: Once you enter a certain length for the sign text, the sign editor will not display the end of your sign text. So it is difficult to see the end of the sign text in Example #2.
