Measuring Bulk Powder
I ordered some K-R-ALA powder. The dosing that I want To take is 250mg 3x a day. The problem is that I don't know how much 250mg is and I do not have a scale. The company I ordered from said that it a 250mg dose is equal to 1/14 of a teaspoon, and one have any advice.

Where do you find a measuring spoon that says 1/14th of a teaspoon?

(1/14) US teaspoon = 0.35206583 milliliters
That is going to be hard to measure.

I haven't. I do have 1/8 and it is a simple matter to estimate a bit over 50%.Do you think that your better than me?

Well 3g of Creatine mono = 1 level tsp
3000mg / 14 = 215mg
But we all know it won't weigh exactly the same, but this is a rough idea.

I found this on another forum. This is where I got my info
Member asked?
How do you measure the K-R-ALA powder when 1tsp = 3.5grams and you would want to take 250mg doses.Company response.
1/14 of a teaspoon would equal 250 mg...and if you can measure out 1/14 of a teaspoon, you are quite skilledI'd invest in a scale for those types of measurements.

I was just curious as to where you got that info because I have bought bulk K-R-ALA in the past(probably not from the same company as you), and the 1/4 teaspoon measurement marked on the container was 560mg(so 1/8th is 280mg). I don't know which is correct and/or why the measurements are different, though.01-07-2006, 04:54 PM #10

If it is K-R-ALA powder that means it is stable enough to be mixed with protein. Instead of scooping out a tiny bit everytime you could always just dump some of it in a tub of protein.
BTW, 250mg equals 100mg of R-ALA (as the potassium salt), but I'm sure you already knew that.

The info from the companies website states that 1tsp=3.5 grams. No, I didn't know that 250mg of K-R-ALA only had 100mg of the active R-ALA. In that case the purchase I made was not a good deal. 25g of K-R-ALA for $20. Seeing how GXR is $30 for 90 pills that each contain 250mg of the active R-ALA that would meanBulk Powder has on 25 grams but 40% is only the active so then 10 grams of the active
GXR has 22.5 grams of the active R-ALAIs this right, I am very confused now.

Isnt grams a measurement of weight rather then size? Like each substance can have a different volume, so then if creatine equals 3g on a teaspoon, cee can be 5g or something?
I would also like to know how to measuree this stuff,01-08-2006, 10:35 AM #15

So then the only way to really measure is a gram scale?
