It seems like the high schoolers hot spot mixed together with family outing types. You can bring your own food(and sneak in alcohol) pull up, and it's a double header. Two movies, $9 for adults, $1 for kids 5 through 9. Of course during the summer time the movies start late since it has to be dark enough. Which means the second movie doesn't start until well past midnight. I left after the first movie. They also have a concession stand that sells nachos and hot dogs and other snacks. Mostly overpriced. I'd stop at Beto's or get a $5 pizza and bring it with. Sundays they also do swap meets here. This seems like a real Salt Lake experience to me." When the weather is nice, our main blacktop-covered field is loaded with sellers. If you are looking for something — chances are someone at the Swap Meet will have it.
Why do they call it swap meet?The term swap meet (with swap meaning “ to exchange, barter, or trade”) appears to have been in use since at least the late 1940s and early 1950s, though the concept predates it. Noted and long-running swap meet, the Paramount Swap Meet in Paramount, California, says it started in 1955.
Is swap meet a California thing?An indoor swap meet in the United States, especially Southern California and Nevada, is a type of bazaar, a permanent, indoor shopping center open during normal retail hours, with fixed booths or storefronts for the vendors.
