Audience Reviews for Cast Away
Jun 22, 2016
This film is pretty much the one man show of Tom Hanks. I think Wilson the volleyball gets more screen time than Helen Hunt. Tom Hanks does an amazing job as a FedEx employee that is trapped on a desert island by himself after a plane crash. And no there aren't any smoke monsters, polar bears, or mysterious hatches either.

A great survival-on-an-island movie. Tom Hanks is superb. A sad story, but one that most people will like.

Probably one of the best disaster emotional films ever. A classic game of survival that is played absolutely perfectly.
Is Cast Away Based on a true story?
The answer is no - Cast Away isn't actually based on a true story. Instead the story of a FedEx executive stranded on a deserted island in the middle of the South Pacific due to a plane crash - is entirely a work of fiction. What platform is Cast Away on?
Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+How much did Tom Hanks get for Cast Away?
Hanks made $20 million for Cast Away according to Celebrity Net Worth. He also produced the film, which follows the story of a FedEx systems analyst executive, Chuck, who gets stranded in the Pacific Ocean following a plane crash. How much did FedEx pay for Cast Away?
And in what may become the marketing equivalent of a bargain like buying Manhattan Island for $24, FedEx got the priceless publicity for free. "People find it hard to believe, but we didn't pay a dime to be in the movie," said Sandra Munoz, a FedEx spokeswoman at the company's Memphis headquarters.
