Is Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes worth playing?

Its a watered down version of TPP basically, I mean ofcourse being a demo and all. But it shows the mission structure that’s in V where each mission has its own specific mission area that you play in starting from the LZ. Unless if you play free roam and drive from mission to mission.

There is one main story mission and a few filler ops, they were fun the first time but there are better versions of those missions in TPP. The extra ops are a fun novelty but not really enough to return to over and over.

I wish there was more than one map for the missions because it gets repetitive after a bit. TPP has lots of well crafted unique mission areas to play in that has more replayablility and entrances/exits and such in each one separately. Even though there is a big open world map in TPP the game revolves around the missions themselves and keeps you in a certain area of the map, some the size of GZ, some smaller, and a few bigger but there are reasons for the sizes.

Basically im saying it was a good experience but its really one mission cut from the whole story and a few side ops. Get it for the experience but expect a random amount of darkness and unnecessary violence from this MG episode.

Thinking of playing through a fresh run of TPP. Never played Ground Zeroes, so was just wondering if it's worth it for the "total experience?" I'm not sweating the $20 price tag.

MediumBoss 7 years ago#2

If you don't care about the price, sure. But you can find it for five bucks easily.

Call me a drunk for I see three of you

No.It's just a base with a rescue objective.Not even worth 5$ imo

I got mine new for 15 bucks on ps3. Worth every penny. Got it a week before tpp's release. Only completed 8%.

I had fun on that game

Playing TPP but not GZ is like playing MGS2's Plant without playing the Tanker. Definitely play GZ.

Caution - You are approaching the periphery shield of Vortex Four

well it's worth it if this was a few months back because it does give you a pretty big boost in tpp, in terms of staff, and a camo for mgs fans, if the genome soldiers carried over i would definitely say yes, if they are going to milk us with those dlc why not force people to buy gz for those genomes ;...;

I unlocked the stun knife in mpo by replacing it's skin with that of the other knife

Not really. It's just one mission when there's like 50 missions in the main game (I think? I haven't beaten the game yet). I know you said you don't mind the $20, but it's still worth mentioning it's just not worth it, unless you don't mind spending that for like an hour of gameplay. I say just Youtube the cutscenes, as there's probably only like 5 minutes worth of it.

If you wanna play as Big Boss, sure

SPOILERS ^^^^^

And yeah, you'd never skip Tanker mission or the Virutous mission. So go play GZ.

Is Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes worth playing?

I would say yes, but only if you're the type of player that likes to complete games 100%. if you're a completionist then Ground Zeroes will easily give you a good few hours of gameplay.

If you want to just play it for the story you're probably better off watching videos of the story on youtube.

TPP will have an import save feature for GZ though. And if you rescure PoW's in GZ they will be recruited to your Mother Base in TPP. I even heard that with these people recruited it's possible to get a new sneaking suit not available in TPP without them.

I have an extra copy, would you like it?

You can also get staff for your mother base beforehand, since some people that you kidnap in GZ would transfer over to TPP with a save file.

Any info on how do you actually do this?

On the contrary - Kojima said that owners of GZ would be able to return to that map in TPP and there would be some sort of a big surprise. No one knows what it is and if it's gonna worth it.

Well, there's a "SAVE DATA UPLOAD" option in GZ right now. So that you can upload your save for TPP. And it was confirmed that with the save you'll get the staff that you kidnapped. It wasn't confirmed who do you actually need to kidnap, though. So I kidnapped every POW and unique soliders like Glaz, Palitz, the captured mother base dude and so forth. As well as many of the normal soldiers. Probably overdid it. But I'm ready.

Thanks mate. I played GZ when it was first released and I'm forgetting on how you actually 'kidnap' people?

You knock them out, call your chopper and put them in there. No fultons in GZ, sadly.
So I like to fill the jeep (three bodies in one car!) and drive them to the extraction point.

Haha. Well done. Thanks for the info, I will go back play through again.

Yes.

Is Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes worth playing?

Honestly for 1/3 of the retail price for 6 or so hours of gameplay no :P (tpp is over 100hours for 60$) but if you cant wait for tpp and 20$ dosnt mean that much to you go for it.

Should I play Metal Gear Ground Zeroes?

Ground Zeroes Wasn't Just A Glorified Demo, It's One Of The Best Metal Gear Solid Games Ever Made. The Phantom Pain's prologue is a mini masterpiece. At the southern edge of Cuba, along a rocky, rain-battered coastline, lies Camp Omega.

Should I skip Ground Zero?

GZ is the prologue and if you try to 100% the game you will be busy for a while untill TPP releases. The events of The Phantom Pain are consequences from Ground Zeroes so, yes, you should. Yes you'll be ok even without playing Ground Zeroes.

Is Metal Gear Ground Zeroes a full game?

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is a 2014 stealth game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami. It is the eighth game in the Metal Gear series directed, written and designed by Hideo Kojima, and serves as a prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, released the following year.

What should I play first ground zero or phantom pain?

Play Ground Zeroes first; it serves as a prolouge to the Phantom Pain.
