Legend and Master Lost Sectors can be challenging activities, especially for the average player. But no matter your skills, whether you can speedrun a Master Lost Sector or can barely complete a Legendary one, you need to make sure you bring weapons with matching elements and armor with the necessary Champions mods.
Best Lost Sectors to farm?
It’s common knowledge that Lost Sectors were not created equal. Some are much easier and/or faster to complete than others. This is how we rank every Lost Sector on rotation this season, from easiest to farm to hardest:

This table also includes all the Elemental Shields and Champions you’ll need to prepare for, in case you decide to farm a Lost Sector.
These are the different Tier levels used for our list:
- S Tier – Best: Fastest Lost Sectors to farm. We absolutely recommend you farm these.
- A Tier – Strong: Not the fastest, but still great Lost Sectors to farm due to their fast clear times.
- B Tier – Average: Average Lost Sector to farm (passable length and difficulty).
- C Tier – Weak: Poor Lost Sectors to farm, either due to their length or difficulty.
- D Tier – Worst: The absolute worst Lost Sectors to farm, either due to their length or difficulty.
Farming and drop rates
Bungie doesn’t provide any official figures regarding drop rates other than their very vague “rare” or “common” indications. Luckily, some very dedicated Guardians have put in the work to run and track hundreds of Legend Lost Sectors. Reddit user LostSectorLoony ran 600+ Lost Sectors. These were his findings:
From a total of 604 Lost Sectors, he received 138 exotic drops for a total drop rate of 22.85%.
Another important finding to keep in mind is that “run time does not seem to affect drop rates.” In other words, run faster Lost Sectors when possible

Lost Sectors in Destiny 2
There are currently 37 Lost Sectors in Destiny 2. That said, only Legend/Master Lost Sectors are worth your time:

Exotic armor rewards
Before these were introduced, it was nearly impossible to farm Exotic armor in Destiny 2. With so many Exotic weapons and armor pieces available, the RNG to find the armor you wanted was too severe. Legend and Master Lost Sectors finally changed that, as they limit the possible rewards to only one armor slot per day: Helm, arms, chest, legs, and class item.
Equally important, these Lost Sectors are the only way to acquire the latest Exotic armor released since Beyond Light.
