Pizza left out for 6 hours Reddit

It depends on what's on the pizza. Some things go bad much faster than others, like eggs and fish (if you have anchovies you might want to give that pie a pass).

It also depends on your immune system. An older person or someone with a compromised immune system is at greater risk than most.

That said, I've left pizza in the box at room temp for a couple days and eaten it, nothing bad happened to me.

Nonetheless, the best practice is to get that pie in the fridge.

Pizza left out for 6 hours Reddit

I've let it sit out for a day or so and have always been fine. I usually order meat pizzas. The meat is cured and has a lot of salt, cheese can sit out for days and I don't know about the dough but like I said, I've never had an issue.

Pizza left out for 6 hours Reddit

Maybe a day, maybe even longer even though I might hate myself for it. But leaving pizza out isn’t a habit of mine as I usually will transfer it to a tuperware and store in the fridge

I usually refrigerate pizza leftovers. They've never lasted more than two days. Cold pizza = yummy breakfast.

I leave it in the box and eat it the next day

level 1

Sometimes I forget to put it in the fridge. I'll eat it the next day if I leave it out, but that's it.

I leave it out for an hour or two max. I wrap pizza in foil or in a plastic bag and put it in the fridge. To reheat I use a large skillet set to medium heat with a lid. Once the pan is hot I add a small amount of water (like 1 ounce) which immediately turns to steam. Cheese re-melts, crust stays crisp and is heated through in less than a few minutes. Doesn’t dry out like rehearing in the oven. My in laws will leave pizza out all night and put it away the next day, which is not exactly the safest thing, and by then the sauce has made the crust soggy.

Depends, what kind of pizza, pan pizza? 3 days. Normal pizza ~5 days. Alfredo white pizza? 1 day.

I never refrigerate left over pizza.

1 I hate cold pizza

2 the fridge will dry pizza out

I store left over pizza in the microwave with a big glass of water.( I read water keeps Pizza moist? No clue if it’s true.) I might warm pizza up for 30secs Pizza rarely last more than 2 days, so I dunno beyond that

level 2

When you're microwaving it with the water, yes. Just having water in the while it's in storage, no.

Our leftover pizzas usually last for three days the most as long as refrigerated. Though it seldom happens since we hardly have leftovers.

generally a day, but only because that's the longest it ever lasts before i/someone finishes it. i reckon i wouldn't mind eating it after longer as long as it doesn't seem off at all.

I'll leave takeout pizza in the box, closed a couple of hours before putting it in the fridge. It will be gone in 3 days tops. And I'm usually drinking red wine with it.

It's not a conflict of interest and they care more about the bottom line.

Look at what happened to Jack-in-the-Box. Or Chipotle today. If one person is made legitimately sick by pizza, then a lot of people are likely to get sick. Then it will make the news and people won't want to go there anymore.

They are exactly caring about the bottom line and it is completely within their interest to accurately identify contamination to get rid of it.

This is true for fast food chains but not elsewhere in the food industry. If contaminated ingredients are sent to Domino's, Domino's is going to get the blame even though it wasn't their fault. The ingredient supplier (meat, cheese, whatever) on the other hand would have to recall enormous amounts of their product even though only a small amount would be contaminated. That hurts them. Plus, if people got sick they wouldn't get as much of the blame publicly. Fines would be cheaper than the cost of recalling their product and the USDA doesn't have the power to food products. Companies have to voluntarily do so.
