Mother’s Day is almost here. And thankfully, there’s plenty of wonderful ways for you to treat your mum this year. Enjoy high tea, try a perfume workshop, indulge in a feast, see a concert and more! Whether you want to spoil your mum, or say thank you to the mother of your children, here are some amazing things for you do to in Melbourne this Mother’s Day.
1. Spend Mother’s Day at the LUME
Take your mum to the LUME for an immersive, digital art experience. After admiring the works of Vincent Van Gogh, grab a bite to eat at the café inside the LUME. For one day only, Café Terrace 1888 is serving up high tea, with French-inspired treats like brioche baguettes, raspberry macaroons, apricot scones, and savoury delights. The LUME will open from 9am this Mother’s Day, and high tea options are either $65 or $75.

Have you ever had high tea at Melbourne Museum? Tickets to this high tea experience includes a full day access to the museum, so you can treat yourself to some delicious food, and learn a bit about dinosaurs or ancient Greece along the way. Choose to have your tea with views of Carlton Gardens at Treetops, or with views of Royal Exhibition Building at Mercury Restaurant. You’ll receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine, as well as a surprise gift to take home. This costs $115 for adults, and $45 for children between 3 and 12.

Is your mum a fan of gardening? Why don’t you take a drive and see the Garden at Broughton Hall? This stunning location is beginning to display some gorgeous autumnal hues, and the nursery shop is full of potential gifts for that green thumb in your life. This garden is about an hour and a half away from Melbourne, and opens from 10am to 4pm. On Mother’s Day, all mums that enter with another guest can enter for free!

Take your mum to this boutique distillery in Richmond for some Gin & High tea. This event includes three classic gin cocktails, a cocktail teapot to share, as well as sweet and savoury treats. At this event, you’ll also be the first to try a new seasonal product from Brogan’s Way. This boozy high tea will take place at 2:30pm on Sunday, and costs $85 per person.
If you want to take it up a notch, order a bouquet from Your Flower Fix, and get it delivered to the distillery for an additional surprise.

In this family-friendly concert, you’ll listen to popular songs alongside a full symphony orchestra. Listen to romantic ballads, jazz, modern hits and more, alongside Patti Newton, Harrison Craig, David Hobson and John Foreman’s 60-piece Aussie Pops Orchestra.

6. Enjoy a special lunch at Anchor in Elwood
Spoil mum this Mother’s Day with a feast. Start with Anchor’s signature Coquilles St Jaques, as well as halloumi and dolmades. Then, follow it with a choice of lamb, spatchcock or eggplant. There’s also a kids menu for those under 12. This lunch costs $75 for adults and $50 for children.

Enjoy yum cha at Oriental Teahouse this Sunday. Try the Carmela Dumpling, the winner of the “Tribute to Mum” competition. Inspired by Annmaria’s memory of her mother cooking fish in a rich tomato stew, this dumpling is a salted Barramundi dumpling, served with a rich and delicious sauce. Walk or run along the Tan for the 25th anniversary of Mother’s Day Classic. Each registration includes a headscarf, a race bib, and a tribute card, as well as a commemorative medallion when you cross the finish line. There will also be entertainment, music and food stalls.

Head to this Northcote bar for two fun events. On Saturday May 7, take a special yoga session for mums who want to relax and unwind with some delicious cocktails. This yoga session will take place at 10:30am, and is $35 per person. It includes a cocktail before and after. There will be drink specials after yoga.
Then, on Sunday May 8 at 2pm, take your mum to Cocktail School. Create and drink three signature cocktails over roughly two hours. This class will cost $65 per person.

Head to Chancery Lane on Little Collins Street for a lovely family lunch. The Mother’s Day menu features three courses, with sides to share as well as dessert. Feast on Shark Bay scallop crudo, wagyu beef, pear tarte tatin and more. For the kids, there’s cauliflower croquettes, Angus beef burgers and white chocolate mousse.

15. Have a staycation at Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street
