Cryo damage vs Pyro damage on Cryo resistant shields
Some enemies are more resistant to certain Elements. This is called Elemental Resistance. Even though they're not completely immune, you'd still want to use elements that they don't have a high resistance to.

There are also enemies who are completely immune to certain elements.

Elemental Auras are debuffs applied to you by enemies who have a wide circle around them. When receiving one of these debuffs, a red icon associated with the element will appear on top of your health bar. These debuffs can only be removed by using a cleanse ability or applying a different element on yourself.

What are the 7 types in Genshin Impact?

There are seven elements in Teyvat, which are Pyro, Hydro, Anemo, Electro, Dendro, Cryo, and Geo. Each of these Genshin Impact elements has their respective god or Archon and hence, an associated nation.

Is there more than 7 elements in Genshin Impact?

There exist seven different elements in the world of Genshin Impact. Each one is ruled over by an Archon who can also grant humans the ability to harness their element. This ability materializes in a Vision, and every playable character — except the Traveler — possesses one.

What does Cryo and Dendro do?

Cryo replaces Dendro when it reacts with Burning, leaving it as a Pyro plus Cryo reaction. In the end, the damage from the reactions together adds up to more damage than the characters can get on their own. We briefly mentioned Cryo's role in “fridge” comps with Barbara, who makes a great budget pick for Bloom teams.

What is the rarest element in Genshin?

The rarest item in Genshin Impact isn't even a 5-star item, but a 3-star sword called the Dark Iron Sword. Objectively, there cannot be an item rarer than this one that exists in the game; the Dark Iron Sword has a total of one occurrence in the game.
