Players will have to come across some Metal Coats if they want to evolve certain Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and complete the Pokédex.
Both Scyther and Onyx need the Metal Coat to evolve into their next forms. Scyther turns into Scizor with a Metal Coat, and Onyx turns into Steelix.
There are two ways of obtaining the Metal Coat. The most surefire way to get one is to grind for Merit Points. Get Merit Points by heading out into the world and returning lost satchels. Each one will reward players with a random amount of points. After you collect 1000 MP, you can buy a Metal Coat from the Trading Post located in Jubilife Village.
The second way to find a Metal Coast is to wait for a Space-time Distortion to form. Inside them, players can find a plethora of items lying on the ground to collect, and a Metal Coat may be among them. Distortions can be dangerous, especially if you are not prepared, and running around in one could end in you blacked out.

Metal Coats are not a guaranteed item in Space-time Distortions, and the most efficient way to get them is most likely to grind for the MP. If you find a Space-time Distortion around, though, it’s worth checking it for a Metal Coat in case you find one.
This guide goes over how to get the Metal Coat item in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. You can earn one in the post-game, but you can also get them much earlier if you steal it from certain Pokemon. Read below to find out more, and check the inventory page for more on the special items in Pokemon. advertisement One way to get Metal Coat is by talking to Bryon in his home on Iron Island. But you can only do that once you have your National Dex. You can get a
Metal Coat beforehand through wild Bronzor and wild Magnemite. Both Pokemon have a 5% chance of holding a Metal Coat. Bronzor can be found in the Wayward Cave underneath Cycling Road on
Route 206. Magnemite can be spotted in the Underground. You can steal the Metal Coat with the move Thief. Make sure the Pokemon that is using Thief isn’t holding anything already as it will not be able to hold onto the item it
steals if it already has something on. You’ll probably have to go through several Bronzors or Magnemite before you successfully steal a Metal Coat. The Compound Eyes ability increases the chances of encountering a wild Pokemon with a held item. It will increase the 5% chance of a wild Pokemon holding an item to a 50% chance. The ability is a very helpful tool in trying to find Metal Coats. However, Compound Eyes are only found in Butterfree and
Yanma. Both Pokemon are only available in the post-game after you received your National Dex. Where to get

Where to get Thief
The only way to have a Pokemon that knows Thief is to use TM46. There’s only one TM46 in the whole game, so use it wisely.
TM46 can be found next to the Team Galactic Eterna Building in the town’s north area. You’ll need the HM Cut, which you can only use outside of battle after defeating Eternia’s Gym Leader Gardenia. Use Cut to tear down the trees in front of the building. Then on the right-hand side, there’s a hidden area hidden behind some trees.
Walk behind the trees and there’s another tree branch that you can cut down. After tearing it down, continue walking down the path until you reach the TM.
