The Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies have been mega hits. The amazing franchise all started with legendary director Steven Spielberg’s work on Jurassic Park in 1993. The Jurassic Park trilogy is based on the novel by Michael Crichton, who co-wrote the screenplay, of the same name.

The first film follows paleontologists Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler, and mathematician Ian Malcolm. They are among a select group chosen to tour an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park’s mastermind, billionaire John Hammond, assures everyone that the facility is safe, they find out otherwise when various ferocious predators break free and go on the hunt.

Jurassic Park is considered a landmark in the development of computer-generated imagery and animatronic visual effects. It was followed by The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III. Then another trilogy set in the franchise launched in 2015 with Jurassic World. That film was followed by Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and the upcoming Jurassic World Dominion which will hit theaters this summer on June 10. The Jurassic World films are directed by Colin Trevorrow.

The first Jurassic World film focuses on the Jurassic World luxury resort located off the coast of Costa Rica which provides a habitat for genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus rex. When the massive creature escapes, it sets off a chain reaction that causes the other dinosaurs to run amok. Now, it’s up to a former military man and animal expert to use his special skills to save two young brothers and the rest of the tourists.

The latest installment of the Jurassic World franchise picks up four years after Isla Nublar had been destroyed — with humans and dinosaurs having to now navigate their co-existence with one another all while determining, once and for all, whether the fragile balance of humankind can compete with some of history's most terrifying creatures.
