Black Clover is a fantasy anime adapted from the manga written and illustrated by Yuki Tabata of the same name. The anime was produced by Pierrot, the same studio that is responsible for anime such as Naruto, and Bleach, and directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara.
The story follows Asta the only known person who is not able to use magic in a world where magic is a common everyday part of people's lives. But that does not deter Asta who is determined to become the wizard king along with his adoptive brother Yuno. The manga started in 2015 and currently has 31 volumes. The manga was adapted into an anime starting in 2017. There are four seasons of the anime with 170 episodes.
Here's what we know about the future in store for the anime:
Will There Be Season 5 Of Black Clover?
When the anime first started to air, it picked up in popularity with the series airing back to back from 2017 to 2019. The show which was originally listed for only 51 episodes continued into a new season from October 2018 to 2021, although it briefly went on hiatus in 2020. In February 2021 the anime announced that the last episode will be airing on March 30, 2021. The announcement was made on the official anime website and the final episode also had an "important announcement." Anime News Network also reported that additionally, Avex Pictures' official YouTube channel also had a live special on March 30 at 6:00 p.m. with the cast.
There is speculation that the anime is not canceled but taking an extended hiatus. The manga has not stopped yet so there is a chance that in the future the anime can just pick up where it left off. A Black Clover movie was announced in the same breath that the end of the anime was revealed. Fans are expecting the story to move forward with the movie. But as of now, there is no season five but we can expect a movie in the near future.
What Will The Plot Of Black Clover Season 5 Be?
The season four finale ended with a cliffhanger with the events from the story of Black Clover's manga, specifically until Chapter 270 titled Dark Prison Hunting Ground. The chapter focuses on Asta's battle against the Devil inside of him, Liebe. With Asta having defeated Liebe, he agrees to become friends with him rather than binding him to his will. There's also potential to explore the revelation of Asta's biological mother. This could be taken up in the film as well which is next in line rather than a new season of the anime.

Protagonists Asta and Yuno, voiced by voice actors Gakuto Kajiwara and Nobunaga Shimazaki, will definitely be a part of the new season. Noelle Silva (Kana Yuki), Asta's love interest, will also be returning. Depending on how the movie ends, other characters may or may not be included in the fifth season. That is if the fifth season comes to fruition.
