How to get a skeleton head in Minecraft Bedrock

Minecraft is filled with different add-ons, mods, and other fun changes you can make to a server to ensure your players are having a good time. Of course, you can still do all of the standard stuff like mining and building. Sometimes you just need a decorative head for your home. Here is how to get player heads in Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

Can You Get Player Heads in Minecraft Bedrock Edition?

Yes, you can get a player’s head in Minecraft Bedrock Edition; here’s how.

If you’re looking to get a player’s head, you will need to do a few things. Those on PC will need to open up the console command block menu to begin the process.

Please note that where it says <your username>, you need to punch your in-game username in order for the command to work correctly.

From here, you’re going to need to type /give <your username> minecraft:command_block

For those playing on Minecraft Bedrock version 1.3 or before, you’ll need to do this differently.

Next type the following, /give @p minecraft:skull 1 3 {SkullOwner:username}

Now, you’ll need to activate the command block that is in-game allowing this function to work. We recommend just slapping a simple button on the command block and clicking it in. This should power the command block and allow you to perform the entered command.

Hit enter, and you should be all set. It’s important to note that if this does not work the first time, make sure you capitalize in the appropriate spots. All commands are case-sensitive.

You are also able to get other heads in Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Heads of enemies like creepers and skeletons make for great in-game house decor. Or maybe it’s more suited for your creepy underground basement; we’re not interior designers, though.

Heads are decorative blocks that were added in the coveted Minecraft 1.4 update. Although heads are technically decorative blocks, they do actually have some practical purposes in single player Minecraft. Player heads particularly are also commonly utilized by Minecraft servers within several server-side plugins.

No, Steve heads are only currently able to be obtained via creative mode.

You can get an enderman head by killing an enderman, the chance of getting a head from killing an enderman is 1/40 (2.5%).

Wearing a creeper head will mean that the range the creeper can detect you from is reduced by 50%.

The same principle actually applies for skeletons and zombies too with skeleton heads and zombie heads respectively.

Heads are a very interesting and unique decorative block within the game, primarily due to the fact they are smaller than normal blocks and any custom texture can be applied to them. Minecraft servers and adventure map creators particularly utilize player heads to their advantage due to the fact their textures can easily be changed to represent real life items; this effectively adds new decorative blocks to the game.

In a practical sense however, players can wear certain mob heads to deter specific mob detection ranges, thus making said mobs much easier to farm and fight.

At current, there are six different types of Player Heads, namely, player, zombie, skeleton, wither skeleton, creeper, and dragon. 1. Find a Skeleton and a Charged Creeper

First, you need to find both a skeleton as well as a charged creeper.

In this tutorial, we have found a skeleton and charged creeper and fenced them in so that they don't run away. Notice that we are doing this tutorial when it is raining. The lower light levels from the rain prevent the skeleton from bursting into flames and dying before we are able to get the skeleton skull.

2. Ignite the Charged Creeper

Next, you will want to ignite the charged creeper. To do this, select the flint and steel in your hotbar. Then position your pointer (the plus sign) on the charged creeper.

The game control to use the flint and steel depends on the version of Minecraft:

  • For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the charged creeper.
  • For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap on the charged creeper.
  • For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.
  • For PS3 and PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.
  • For Wii U, press the ZL button on the gamepad.
  • For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.
  • For Windows 10 Edition, right click on the charged creeper.
  • For Education Edition, right click on the charged creeper.

The fuse on the charged creeper should be ignited and soon it will explode.

3. Pick up the Skeleton Skull

Once the charged creeper has exploded, both mobs will be dead and there will be a hole from the explosion. Since the charged creeper killed the skeleton, you should find a skeleton skull floating on the ground at the bottom of the hole.

Make sure you pick up the skeleton skull before it disappears.
