What’s new in Beats Studio Buds firmware 10M359

Apple on January 25, 2021, released a software update version 10M359 for its Beats Studio Buds wireless earbuds. Now, the company does not offer any release notes that would detail enhancements and new features that the update packs. Thankfully, some improvements like instant pairing and physical volume control are mentioned in a popup.

Battery status

Your Beats Studio Buds charging case now reports the current battery level of each earbud separately, along with the charging case itself, every time it’s nearby and open. If you’ve ever used AirPods, the Studio Buds offer the same proximity-based experience.

Instant pairing

Beats Studio Buds don’t use Apple’s H1 or W1 chips like AirPods and some Beats headphones do. Instead, they are powered by an unspecified processor that brings some of the AirPods magic, like hands-free Siri and spatial audio support. With this update, users enjoy the same instant pairing via iCloud as their AirPods buddies. Before the update, you had to manually pair your Beats Studio Buds with each new device.

Volume control

You can now customize the “b” button on each earbud with volume control. You can configure this either through the Beats app for Android or by hitting “i” next to your Beats Studio Buds in the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone. From there, turn on the option to change the volume by pressing the side buttons. The volume customization feature is supported across iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Android devices.

In addition to the new features, Apple now supports its free laser engraving option for both the Beats Fit Pro and Powerbeats Pro earbuds. You’ll see the option to add a custom engraving on the charging case when ordering your earbuds from Apple.com.

Expanded availability of Beats Studio Buds

Beats Studio Buds are now available globally following their debut on June 14, 2021, including in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and more.

Offered in black, red and white with a color-matched charging case, these $150 wireless earbuds sport active noise cancellation, IPX4 water and sweat resistance and more.

Beats headphones are some of the best headphones that money can buy. However, unfortunately, you can run into issues with them every so often. one of the most common is the headphones not being as loud as you want them to be. On this page, we are going to help you to deal with any sound issues that may come up with your Beats headphones.

So, why are your Beats headphones or earbuds so quiet?

In most cases, it is because the volume limiter of your audio device has kicked in. In other cases, it may be due to interference between the headphones/earbuds and your audio device. It is very rare that your headphones are completely broken.

We do want to expand upon this a little bit. This way, you will know exactly what is causing any issues that you may be having with your Beats headphones. We want to help you get those headphone/earbuds issues cleared up once and for all. We are going to be talking about wired and wireless headphones/earbuds here.

The volume on your device is limited

Sometimes, the obvious answer is going to be the simplest answer.

If your earbuds or headphones are too quiet, then try turning up the audio for your device. You will be surprised at how many people forget about this.

If you have an Android device, then you may have a volume limiter in place. This is to help protect your hearing. Luckily, this is easy to get around. When you turn up your device all the way, keep an eye on the screen. if you hit the limit, then the device will ask you if you want to remove it. This is a warning that may appear every so often.

Something is wrong with the pairing between your audio device and headphones/earbuds

If you have a wireless device, then there could be an issue between your audio device and headphones/earbuds.

The quickest way to deal with this problem is to unpair the two devices. How you do this will be dependent on the audio device that you own. You will normally have to dive into the Bluetooth settings.

You will also want to carry out a factory reset of your headphones/earbuds. This will normally involve you holding in the power button for around 30-seconds. However, consult the manual for the specific model of your headphones/earbuds to be 100% sure.

Once everything has been reset, pair it all up again. This should clear up the issues.

The battery is dying on your headphones/earbuds

Again, this is going to only apply to those that own wireless headphones/earbuds.

If the battery is in dire need of being recharged, then the sound levels could plummet. All you need to do is put the device on charge, and wait for it to fully charge. This should hopefully clear up the issue.

There is interference between your headphones/earbuds and your audio device

Again, this is only going to apply if you have wireless headphones or earbuds.

Your Beats are going to be connected to your audio device using Bluetooth.

Now, Bluetooth is awesome for transmitting sound over short distances. There is no better technology for it. The problem is that the Bluetooth signal is incredibly weak.

If there is interference between the audio device and the Beats, then they may stop working properly. In fact, if they are too far apart, they may stop working properly.

Try to ensure that your Beats and audio device are as close together as possible. If there is anything metal between the two e.g. keys, then remove them.

There is a build-up of earwax on your headphones/earbuds

This is something that can happen to both wired and wireless beats.

Your ears produce earwax. It is a completely natural process.

The thing is, if you use your Beats, then the earwax is going to get stuck to them.

Some people find that the earwax starts to clog up the Beats. If too much gets on there, then it may limit the amount of sound that the Beats are able to produce.

Thankfully, giving them a good wipedown every so often (not with water!) should be enough to keep them nice and clean. In many cases, it could even up the sound volume.

The wires on your headphones/earbuds are broken

If you have wired headphones or earbuds from Beats, then over time the wire is going to become damaged.

If the wire becomes damaged, then the amount of sound that your headphones produce will fall. You may also notice that the sound cuts out on occasion or becomes a little bit crackly.

With new Beats headphones, you may be able to swap out the cable. This will just be a 3.5mm male-to-male audio cable. However, with the older models of Beats headphones, you may have no choice but to completely replace them. This is because the cable cannot be removed. If your Beats headphones are in warranty, then you may also be able to get in touch with Beats. However, because the cable is seen as a ‘breakable’ part, there is no guarantee that it will be covered under the warranty for the headphones.

Sadly, there isn’t much that you can do to prevent this issue. Just try to ensure that you keep your cable in good condition. Try to bend it as little as possible. Be careful when you are removing the headphones from the audio device, etc. However, eventually, no matter how careful you are about things, the headphones will just stop working.

Conclusion

If your Beats headphones or earbuds are quiet, then there is a lot that you can do to deal with the problem. In most cases, all it requires is to remove the volume limiter from your phone or tablet. In other cases, you may need to re-pair the headphones with the phone. It is exceedingly rare that your Beats are going top be completely broken.
