One of the major reasons for Roblox‘s popularity has been the insane number of games that are available. Some of them feature some exciting features, and many are wondering how they can play it on Oculus Quest 2.

If you are looking to play Roblox on Oculus Quest 2 you will not be able to play it directly. You need to follow a few steps, and you can follow the ones given below to complete the entire process.

  • First you need to head to Oculus website and download the software by clicking on the Download Quest 2 PC App button. This app is required to Rift content on Quest 2. Make sure that your headset is connected to PC using Air Link, the Link cable, or any USB 3 cable.
  • Once the app is downloaded, install it on your PC.
  • Then launch the app and click on Devices. You need to click on Add Headset and select the appropriate model of the device you are using.
  • If your Oculus headset is connected, you can click on Continue to proceed with the setup process.
  • Once the setup is complete click on Close to complete the process.
  • If you get the prompt to Enable Oculus Link click on Enable
  • Go to Settings, click on General and allow download from unknown sources.
  • Now you need to find find a Roblox game that supports VR. Do note that all games don’t have this feature, so you might have a bit of trouble in finding one. Once you find one, click on Play to start the game.
  • You can now play Roblox on the VR headset.

Step into the block-like world of Roblox on your standalone headset using this step-by-step guide.

Those familiar with massively multiplayer online games are no doubt familiar with Roblox. Originally released back in 2006 on desktop PCs, the wildly popular multiplayer sandbox game has since expanded onto multiple platforms, amassing a rabidly loyal fanbase of mostly younger players in the process.

But did you know everyone’s favorite kid-friendly MMO game can also be accessed in VR? Yes, it’s true! Over the past couple of years, dedicated users have begun offering their own Roblox worlds compatible with PCVR headsets, allowing those in VR to interact with other players logged in via a smart device, console, or desktop PC. And let’s just say the results are… interesting to say the least.

But what about all of my standalone VR users out there? Today I’m going to be explaining how to play Roblox in VR on your Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 headset. Here’s how to get started:

Bad news first. In order to run Roblox on the Oculus Quest/Quest 2, you will need a VR-ready PC. While I agree the block-like MMO would make for the perfect Oculus Quest game, at the time of this writing there is currently no way to get Roblox running on the Oculus Quest on its own. The good news, however, is that there are multiple ways of connecting your Quest 2 to your PC on the cheap.

OCULUS LINK (Wired)

If you’re looking for convenience, Oculus Link is the way to go. First, head to Roblox.com and download the official PC client. Next, visit Oculus.com and do the same for the Oculus desktop app. From there, connect your Quest 2 headset to your PC via a USB-C cable. Yes, the one that comes with your Quest 2 will work just fine; just make sure you have enough slack to turn around comfortably within your play space.

Then, slip on your headset and select “yes” when asked if you’d like to enable Oculus Link. Finally, head back to the Roblox app and select one of several VR-compatible worlds.

VIRTUAL DESKTOP (Wireless)

But let’s say you picked up a Quest 2 primarily because of the wireless functionality. Those looking to ditch the cables entirely can stream the experience wirelessly to their Quest 2 headsets via an app called Virtual Desktop. Available for $19.99 via the Oculus Quest Store, Virtual Desktop allows you to remotely access your desktop PC directly from your standalone headset.

A recent patch has made the process even easier. At one point you needed to download a third-party patch in order to enable wireless PCVR streaming. Thanks to a recent update, however, everything is handled directly through the official Virtual Desktop app.

First, download and install the Virtual Desktop app on your Quest 2 headset. Next, download and install the free PC companion app and connect your devices by entering your Oculus username. Once connected, you can then access PCVR games directly from your headset via the Virtual Desktop menu or manually on your computer.

This, of course, includes Roblox VR. It’s important to note that the quality of your wireless experience will depend heavily on your hardware and network connecting. Those playing on lower-end hardware may want to consider a more stable method, such as Oculus Link.

If you have any additional issues try restarting both your PC and your Quest 2 headset. Also be sure that “unknown sources” is enabled in your Oculus settings.

And there you have! A quick and easy how-to on playing Roblox in VR on the Oculus Quest 2. Hopefully, we’ll eventually receive an official Oculus Quest launch, but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

The metaverse is (supposedly) approaching, and virtual reality is one of its gateways. Roblox, the mega-popular digital platform, is known for its traditional video game experiences, but it has many VR titles, too.

You'll need a VR headset and a PC to play Roblox games in virtual reality. In terms of VR gear, the Oculus Quest 2 (what we'll use as an example throughout this article) is an excellent choice, but it's not the only headset compatible with Roblox. As for PCs, you will need a high-powered gaming machine that can render virtual worlds.

Once you have those items in place, download the Oculus App to your PC. After installing it, connect your Oculus Quest 2 to your PC via the $79 Oculus Link Headset Cable (sold separately). If your PC lacks a USB-C connection, check out Oculus Link Headset Cables that support USB 3.1.

Alternatively, you can use Oculus Air Link, an Oculus Quest 2 beta feature, to connect the VR headset to your computer over Wi-Fi. This wireless option isn't as stable as a wired connection, but it doesn’t restrict your movements like the cables do. If wireless performance isn't an issue, then the connection route you walk comes down to preference. Note: You must activate Oculus Air Link from within the headset. Here's how to set it up.

How to Connect the Quest 2 to Your PC Via Wi-Fi

  1. Open the Oculus App on your PC.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Select Beta from the top tabs.

  4. Toggle on the Air Link option.

Now, you must enable Air Link inside the VR headset. Here's how:

  1. Press your Oculus button on the right VR controller (if the menu is not already up).

  2. Click the time tray.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. Find the Experimental option, and click it.

  5. You'll see an option for Air Link. Toggle it to blue.

  6. You should now see an option on the first menu: Oculus Air Link. Click it.

  7. Select the computer you would like to connect to, and click Pair.

  8. A pairing code will appear on your Oculus desktop app and headset. Make sure these match, and click continue.

The Oculus environment appears once you've connected the VR headset to the PC. From there, you can play Oculus games, Steam games, and other compatible titles. This is also how we get to play Roblox, and make Roblox VR Games.

Please note that you can control your computer from inside the VR environment by selecting the desktop icon from the Quest 2's menu bar. Once you've done that, you can control your mouse with the hand controllers.

How to Find Roblox VR Games

Now that you've set up your Oculus Quest 2, it's time to find Roblox VR games. From the Roblox homepage (either in VR on your desktop, or from your real-world computer) search for VR titles.

The most popular ones are VR hand simulators. They're playgrounds that let you control giant, floating heads and hands, and play with toys in the virtual world. At the time of this writing, there's one VR-exclusive game that I highly recommend checking out: EdgeWorks by GregTame. It requires paid access (450 Robux), so you must pay Robux to play the game.

Most Roblox VR titles include a default setting, view, and controls, so VR games will function out of the box. Their controls may be a little wonky, but the games work.

Make Your Own VR Games

If you plan on creating your own Roblox VR game, check out the VRService library(Opens in a new window). The developers are working to improve how the VR system works inside Roblox. The VR service is still a new concept to a lot of players and developers, but it won’t be too long before we see virtual reality games appear on Roblox's Most Engaging and Popular search tabs.
