We just got the Nuna car seat and the adapter for our mockingbird stroller. The Nuna requires that 2 buttons on each side (4 total) are engaged to release from the adapter. There is a small square shaped button and the larger button (this larger button also allows for the car seat handle to be moved). Adding this comment because it seemed that there may have been a little confusion about what buttons to push.

On the car seat right above the handles on each side you'll see a gray button (not sure if they are all the color) press both down and pull the car seat up it should come right out

Pro tip. It’s not easy holding both buttons down at same time and pulling up w control. So best way is to press one button and pull seat up at that side first. Then with one hand on the handle, press the other button in and pull seat out fully out. Much easier method. Use the hand you are pushing button with to also pull seat up.

How to remove nuna car seat from base

  1. The first step in installing the Nuna Pipa base is to find the lower anchors in the vehicle. It is usually relatively easy to find the lower anchors since they are marked with the universal symbol, which is a picture of a child sitting in a car seat. You should also know that the vast majority of vehicles only have lower anchors on the two side seats.
  2. Hold the connectors with your hands, push the base into the seat from behind with your legs, and keep pushing until you hear the clicking sound of the connectors connecting to the vehicle.
  3. You should check that the indicator window is green on both sides of the base.
  4. You should also adjust the base so that the green bubble on the bottom keeps your baby reclined as much as necessary. If your baby cannot sit upright on its own, you want the green bubble to be as far to the right as possible.
  5. You can adjust the base by lifting the base with one hand, use the grey button to raise the load leg, put the base back down, and then put the load leg back down.

  1. Flip the blue lock-up first up and then out.
  2. You should then thread both the shoulder and the lap seat belts through.
  3. Click them in, then tighten and flip the blue-lock up back over.
  4. You can check the installation by grabbing the base of the belt wrap and moving it around from side to side as well as moving it forward and back. If you have installed the Nuna Pipa with the seat belt correctly, the Nuna Pipa should not really move at all.

  1. If your vehicle does not have the LATCH system, you begin the installation process by putting the car seat into your car in the position that you want for your child.
  2. Thread the seat belt through the anchor points in the Nuna Pipa seat.
  3. Latch the seat belt and do it securely.
  4. Tighten up the seat belt and ensure that the seat is secure.
  5. If you are using both the shoulder seat and the lap seat, ensure that the shoulder belt is locked. To do this, pull the shoulder belt in your direction slowly until the belt stops. Allow the belt to retract by itself. You then pull on the belt once more to ensure that it is locked.

To install a Nuna Pipa seat without the base, you can use either the European routing or American routing methods. For the European routing method, start by threading the lap belt through each of the belt guides. Take the shoulder belt and thread it through the blue belt guides on the back of the seat. Push down on the seat, pull up on the shoulder buckle, and push back on the back of the car seat.

Test for movement by moving the car seat side to side and front and back. The car seat should move less than one inch. Check the level line and move around the car seat to make sure it is reclined properly.

To use the American routing method, take the seat belt and thread the lap belt through the belt guides. Buckle the lap belt. Check the level line to make sure that it is level with the ground. You can pull out your seal belt to lock it if applicable.

Push down and back on the car seat to make sure it moves less than one inch. If it moves more than one inch, push the Nuna Pipa back into the car seat from behind and pull up on the slack. Check for movement again.
