i easily fell in love with julie olivia's novel. all downhill with you is a comfort read that will provide laughter, swoons, and lots of cute moments. it follows lorelei who works at an amusement park named honeywood as a marketing manager. she has had an accident while on one of the coasters, so she has decided to sue them only because she wants to know how that even happened. she never expected the man who created the roller coaster himself to appear before her.

so, as u can see, these two are enemies to lovers. i mean, lorelei is suing emory's company, or well, his father's company. she's very furious with everything that happened and with reason because what the hell! but when she finally meets emory, everything turns bad because he's grumpy, rude, and sometimes doesn't even reply when a conversation is happening. they start on the wrong foot like every enemies-to-lovers romance book but that soon turns into something more when they finally realize that the other is not really that bad and there's far more than they don't know.

emory is hands down so in love with lorelei since the first moment he sees her. IT'S SO AAAAAhhhh. his inner thoughts? CHEF KISS! i love him so much and he's so cute whenever he's near her. like he cannot help himself, he wants to always make her smile. he compares her smile and personality to the sun and says that it brightens up his days. lorelei is the besttttt! she's that type of character who is so nice to everyone except him lmao like the way he makes her so mad at the beginning!! i do love the interactions between them, they were a+, i had the best of times reading this book.

also this is steamy, my friends. it doesn't have A LOT. but it does have and it's open-door. he FINGERS HER WHEN THEY ARE ON AN RIDE AT THE PARK AND OH MY GOD???? sir??? when he says "good girl. eyes on me"???? i nearly passed out??? stop pls. I SERIOUSLY HAD TO CLOSE TO BOOK AND BREATHE FOR A MOMENT NGL. but yes, this book is wonderful and it has the perfect amount of adorable and smutty moments.

lorelei and emory were so freakin fun to read about. the pure dislike at first, the witty banter, the stolen glances and prolonged eye contact?? amazing. 10/10. and when they finally got together?? jesus christ. the mouth on emory 😮‍💨 i definitely wasn’t expecting it but good lord was it provocative. and the fact that he stretches out his hand when he’s anxious, which immediately makes me think of the hand flex scene from ‘pride and prejudice’?? he’s so fine.

definitely wasn’t anticipating loving this as much as i did, but i genuinely couldn’t put it down. i was smiling throughout the whole book, it seemed. i’m so excited to pick up the next one!

quick summary:
Lorelei (29) works in Honeywood, the theme park in her hometown Cedar Cliff, and has been in two accidents in the main rollercoaster causing her a bad hip and the inability to run, which is why she sues the manufacturer. The son of the CEO of said manufacturer, Emory (36) comes to Cedar Cliff, to rectify and make a new rollercoaster. Of course, they hate each other, but they are willing to work together to make the best rollercoaster as she adores the park and he has a special attachment to that particular rollercoaster.

“While Fred and I meet at the front of the park with lazy smiles and travel mugs of coffee, Lorelei’s hands are free, and she’s running on nothing other than sheer sunshine. Or cocaine. I don’t know her life.”

you can expect:
✨small town
✨tight knit friendships
✨enemies-to-lovers
✨forced proximity
✨grumpy/sunshine
✨softie just for her

“Going soft on me, Mr. Dawson?”
He pauses at my statement. “Maybe. I can’t help it if you’re the silver lining in my day.”

I personally loved the enemies-to-lovers part. It was good. Like I could genuinely feel the hate they had for each other, but also the attraction. I like that it took a while for them to have a change of heart.

“You’ve ruined other women for me,” he says. “You must know that.” Emory traces my jaw with his large hand, stroking down to my chin. “Don’t worry. No other man can compare.”
“No, beautiful,” he mutters. “No other men will ever get the chance.”

Emory grew in the story and I loved watching him become a softie for her🥺🥺🥺 And I loved watching the not pushover part of Lore when she was with him. I think they are perfect for each other and his little obsession at the beginning with watching her every morning was kinda sweet. Also, THIS PART?!?! SIR???

“I’ve heard men say their women taste like candy. Or fruits. Or something else ridiculous. Why mask it with such flowery language? Lorelei tastes like pussy. And I fucking love it.”

I do have a complaint about the romance, though. And it’s just that I wished we had one more date or a breather before the conflict. Because it happened to fast and the jump from “yeah I adore you and I want to fuck you” to “i love you” was too quick and fast imo.

“Talk to me,” he says.
“About what?”
“Anything. I love your voice.”

I’m a sucker for small town romances, but unfortunately that’s where it fell a hit short for me. We don’t really see the town and I just didn’t quite got the ✨small town vibe✨ that I love. I wish Emory and Lore would’ve had their date in town. Her giving him a tour or something, cause I just didn’t felt there. I felt like on a holiday on a theme park you know?? Cause that part was good. And even though we had the friendship group of Lore, I still didn’t get the vibe of “everyone knows everyone and everything” 😭 hopefully I get that in the next books 🤞🏻🤞🏻

“I’m in love with the fact that he doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve, and I love that he still stitched it there just for me.”

I am so excited to see the rest of the group get their love story. I can already see Quinn’s book being HOT and Ruby’s being ANGSTY. Theo’s might be a bit calm though? Like friends-to-lovers denial vibe. I’m here for it though!!!

“Lorelei doesn’t belong to me. It’s my heart that’s owned by her.”

p.s. him saying “this is not the conversation I imagined we would have at our prom” at the gazebo made me go 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 that whole scene made me tear up. Emory was just so fcking sweet, I—😭😭😭 I can totally see this book as a rom-com movie. Gimme it.

This wasn't a bad story. I did really like the roller coaster elements, but I felt that our two characters weren't as developed as some others were.

Nevertheless, I will admit that these two were very cute together and I appreciated them.

Lorelei Arden is everything. She’s the steady rise of a lift hill. She’s more exciting than the anticipation as you crest the top. She is the thrill of the downhill, the rush of anxiety through your chest, the harsh banked turn, the dip in the track, the grip from the brake run.

My fav Julie book c'mon now🐝

This is VERY much a feel good book and I'm living for it.

“At this point, I’d rather you just be gone.”
“Ah, that’s the end goal, right?”
“The earlier, the better.”
“Good. We’re on the same page

We got
-Small town romance
-Tight knit friend group
-Enemies to lovers
-Grumpy Sunshine

Plot:
Lorelei works at an amusement part which is called the Honeywood fun park. She was injured on a ride TWICE which led to her having a weak hip for life.
And that ride ladies and gentlemen was designed by none other than Mr. Emory Dawson.
Lorelei sued Mr. Dawson's company and to this day they kinda haven't seen each other. Till one day they meet and voila they don't like each other *gasp*
This of course will NOT last long because they kiss AND OH THEY KISS
Now it's bad girl behaviour to be going around with a man who made you have a bad hip for life and someone who's company you sued. Dawson makes it his goal to see what actually happened that day that led to the ride failing
The accident created a deep fear of rollercoasters in her.
Which he got her over and oh he had some sweet ways to have her overcome this fear at the start 🤪

Then, she asks, “You don’t know who I am, do you?”
What is this, some type of power move?
I don’t even know what game we’re playing or how I’ve lost, but it unnerves me to feel that I have.
“Should I?”

i like it when my men are slightly unsettled like that

moving his knee to rest between my thighs, rubbing against my core as I desperately grind myself against him.
“There you go,” he murmurs, the heat warming my ear. “Use me, Lorelei.”

He fingers her on The Romping meadow which is a boat ride and also later *wink wink*

“You’ve ruined other women for me,” he says. “You must know that.”
Emory traces my jaw with his large hand, stroking down to my chin.
“Don’t worry. No other man can compare.”
“No, beautiful,” he mutters. “No other men will ever get the chance.”

I also specifically love it when my men are obsessed
And my man Emory was.
Because of the hip thing with Lorelei it was hard for her to spread her legs open wide
And man came through 🤪

I’ve heard men say their women taste like candy. Or fruits. Or something else ridiculous.
Why mask it with such flowery language?
Lorelei tastes like pussy. And I fucking love it.

King shit.

All in all
Sweet
Fuzzy
Cute
Loved it
Cannot wait for the next one because i can feel the couple

I loved Lorelei’s perseverance, optimism, and strength. I loves how Emory opened up - it was like he blossomed once he recognized his feelings for Lorelei. I really liked the “attagirl” and “good girl” moments, the banter between the two characters was top notch, and the steam was excellent!

If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers, workplace romance, a bit of forbidden love, plus fun world development - All Downhill With You is for you!!

The group of friends is adorable! A good family of friends is crucial for me if a series is going to be focused on them. I have my theories about the next couples… and let me say, I am excited for ALL OF THEM (and even if I’m wrong, I’m still dying to know more). I think this series is going to become a favorite for me. 🥹 Can I also move to Cedar Cliff? Because it sounds like a dream small town. 🥰

All kinds of adorable and just the low angst read I was in the mood for, this made for a great introduction to Olivia's work. The grumpalicious hero paired with a sunshiney heroine made for a fun dynamic, and the story deftly tackles heavier subjects while maintaining a light and easy feel. It's got small town romance vibes and enemies to lovers friction - plus a forbidden relationship. I loved that the storyline was so unique, and how these characters had to work out their differences before they could begin to heal themselves. It was sexy and swoony in equal measure, and peeling back the layers of this broken hero was so immensely satisfying. It reads quickly, works well as a series starter, and has me wanting to read more from Olivia. A solid 4/low 5-star read the whole way through, this easygoing grumpy/sunshine romance was a win.

The story follows Lorelei, a woman who loves roller coasters - even though one almost killed her. She's worked at a theme park for years, and continues to do so even after a mysterious equipment malfunction left her with severe injuries to her hip. Lorelei is in the middle of a lawsuit against the roller coaster's manufacturer, and she's hoping that will give her some answers about what happened. But when the coaster designer himself comes to consult at the park, it stirs up a lot of trouble. Emory is moody, rude, and assumes that Lorelei is just suing him for the money. The two dislike each other, and spending time together is a surefire way to complicate the lawsuit. But as Emory gets to know Lorelei better, he realizes how much the accident has impacted her life - and Lorelei realizes that Emory just might have a heart buried underneath his rough exterior after all.

I'm new to Olivia's work, so I had no idea what to expect going in, and I was very pleasantly surprised. It's a light and easy read in a lot of ways, but there's plenty of depth hidden beneath the surface. The storyline is also unlike any I've read before, which is always a major win for me. Sure, it plays up the tropes and I can tell that future love stories in this series of interconnected standalones will continue to do so, but it also felt fresh and different. The characters were lovable, the situations were understandable, and the friction made for some heat. It's actually a little steamy! I loved getting to know Emory better, and there are some swoony moments that really worked. He's the perfect kind of grump on the outside, with a marshmallow heart on the inside. Paired with the upbeat and resilient Lorelei, he was easy to love. I also appreciated how Lorelei's injury was handled, and how there was great representation of her aches and limitations - it's not glossed over. I'm definitely excited to read more from the series, though I do have concerns about a few of the potential couples (two hoes who are sleeping around while pining after each other, a hero who is emotionally cheating on his girlfriend, etc), but I love the overall cast of characters and the small town feel. It was really charming, and that pushes this from 4 to 5 stars for me.

And then throw in the fact that Emory also says things like—”Be a good girl and suck me off, beautiful.”

Gah! Swoon! And fans myself a little.

I cannot wait for the next in this series!!

Will it be the brother and the best friend; the two close friends so achingly meant for each other but completely and frustratingly clueless; or will it be the mysterious bar owner and the girl he can’t keep his eyes off of?! Ahhh.

I hope we get all three! 🤞

I really love the theme park scenery so I enjoyed this story very much. Also, it was great to see the characters finding each other and figuring out that they were in fact meant to be. Lorelei is a nice main female character and the way she deals with her trauma but still loves roller coasters felt very real. Also enjoyed Emory and his whole connection with the roller coasters and theme parks world.

Where do I even begin?

This book met my expectations and I loved every second of it. The book was very light, very cute and oh my goodness, sexy! Let's be honest here, I did not expect the spice in this book and I was happily surprised!

Let's begin with the characters. I felt like Lorelei was such a lovely character with enough backstory and she felt real. There was fight in her, and she didn't back down. We love a feisty little sunshine. She had imperfections, was written funny and I found that I actually really adored her through the book. I wasn't bored reading her POV. Emory (I love that name by the way) was the perfect grump. He was fun, sarcastic and their banter was perfect in my opinion. I loved their dynamics. Emory has a lot of backstory that makes him the way he is, and I liked that it wasn't that much cliche. It felt once again, like a real character and how someone could be in real life as well.

The plot was turning, fun and pretty cute! The more we get into the book, the more the plot develops next to the romance that is centered. Most romance/romcoms have a lot of romance, smut and cute moments but lack in plot. I found that this book had enough plot and also some points that surprised me! I also liked that you got bits and snips from other characters and their personal dealings. But, I do have to see that I would've loved to see more about them and their friendship with Lorelei. I wanted more depth on that part and more character to the MC's friends. But other than that, I liked the turns and how it all unraveled at the end. It felt like a good, fast pacing and cute plot!

The spice! Oh my goodness, the spice! I loved it. I did not expect it to be there at all when I started it! The spice was well balanced between male POV and female POV which made it refreshing to read (albeit a little hot). I liked the pacing of their relationship and it felt like the perfect moment for them to make a move. The romance in this book was cute, light and funny at times!

The only thing why I would knock off a star, is the sometimes flat falling humor or sentences. Sometimes a joke felt a little forced, when other times it fell just perfectly. Together with that I wanted to see more of Lorelei's friends, some jokes maybe just could've been left out and it would also work.

All together I really enjoyed this story and loved the development in it! Secretly I hope this will become a series, since the story ended with a lot of potential! This book really had the summer vibes I was looking for, the lightness and the feel good.

If you are looking for a feel-good romcom with the needed angst, this one is perfect for you! It contains the tropes: grumpy x sunshine, enemies/rivals to lovers and summer flings.

Please read this book. You will enjoy it!

“All I know is that Lorelei is unlike anyone I’ve ever met. There’s a kindness about her that seeps from her body over to mine, like a whiff of perfume floating into my system and giving me life. Or maybe hope.”

I loved every single second of this book. Every. Single. Second. I was so excited to read it, every time Julie posted about it she seemed SO HAPPY about it which got me so excited.

This was the perfect grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers story! The tension was so good. They were so different but they just clicked!

Lorelei works at Honeywood Park and was injured on a rollercoaster two years ago. She is now suing the company that designed it and Emory is at the park to complete the renovations. They of course shouldn’t be working together bc of the conflict of interest but they just can’t seem to stay away from each other.

Despite how her life altering injury, Lorelei still has the absolute best outlook on life. She has her tight knit group of friends, she has her family, and she has Honeywood. Emory really rattled her! He was so different than anything in her life. He has a temper like his father that he desperately tires to manage. He works so hard to just do his job like he always has, but he knows what he’s doing isn’t his best work and that he can do better despite what everyone is telling him. He is not like Honeywood at all, but somehow still fits.

They fall so quickly for each other but they spend a lot of time just being fascinated with the other AND fighting their feelings and I loved it. They knew their relationship couldn’t and wouldn’t go anywhere but they also knew that the other had changed their life. And the way they were BOTH willing to do whatever it took for the other one - WARMED MY HEART. They were also so tuned into the other. Emory was always looking at Lorelei and sensing that she was in pain bc of her injury.

They were so both SO FUNNY. Their inner monologues were so hilarious throughout the entire book.

I love every single person that lives in Cedar Cliff. It is like one huge family. I am SO excited for the rest of the series. Im pretty sure I have a good idea of who will be paired off with who, Julie did a great job of dropping subtle hints! This was such a good introductory book! And I can’t wait to go back to Honeywood and learn even more about their little world!

Thank you SO MUCH to Julie Olivia for this Arc in exchange for an honest review! I can’t wait for everyone to read and LOVE this book as much as I did!

I liked some parts, but not everything. I thought the book started off slow, things don't really pick up until the 30% mark between the mcs. And speaking of mcs, their development was a little off paced. We don't get to see them as a couple, because the conflict was already introduced right after they just got together. Which is a bummer because I really wanted to see them as a couple. The buildup was good, but kind of fell flat at the end. I will always read a book described as “spicy romantic comedy.” In fact just keep sending them my way.

Is this book perfect? No. But it’s wonderful and entertaining and brought back lots of Rollercoaster Tycoon feelings and honestly I may just have to go play it……. right now.

This was a fun romance set at a small-town theme park. I always enjoy stories with slightly flawed, real characters and conflict that doesn't center on miscommunication, so this was a win. I'll definitely read more in this series.

This was everything I could ever wanted and more. The spark between the two characters shines bright. I love not just the two main characters but all the dynamics and relationships between the other characters and the mains. The passion for roller coasters and theme parks comes strong.

This is a story for anyone who loves the thrill of the ups and down and turns of roller coasters and the thrills and ups and downs and turns of falling in love

Lorelei has been in love with Honeywood Fun Park for as long as she can remember. She’s worked there since she was 16 years old. Unfortunately she’s been injured on The Grizzly roller coaster not once, but twice. She’s now suing the manufacturer for her injuries. Emory, the engineer of the ride and son of the manufacturing company, comes to town to attempt to renovate the ride to help the company’s reputation. Lorelei might end up becoming the smile to his frown as they have to work together.

❤️Review❤️

As I said earlier, this is my new favorite of Julie Olivia’s books. I absolutely loved the small town and amusement park setting. It’s the perfect setting for a summertime/beach read romance. There was so many small unique details put in to make the amusement park come to life for the reader! Lorelei has such a wonderful support system of friends and coworkers. I’m excited because that usually means follow up companion novels!! The banter between Lorelei and Emory will have you smiling and blushing. It’s definitely a relationship that builds over time and isn’t rushed. I was extremely connected to their story and I cried with the beautiful ending. I am certainly crossing my fingers for more Honeywood Fun Park novels!!

5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of the ARC team!

This book is definitely a case of a great idea but not so great execution. I loved so much about this book - the theme park setting, the small town vibes and the romance being between between two characters in an ongoing lawsuit.

- This enemies to lovers thing does a COMPLETE 180 following a single kiss when Emory prior was a complete ass and then he’s the perfect man suddenly? That’s the one thing with this trope that for me can go wrong. I just couldn’t believe it.
- The “I love you” moments in the end are very hallmark movie like and made everything start to feel extremely rushed.
- Some of the writing was just not it for me 😅 (ex: “My entire being burns for Lorelei. It burns like the big dumpster fire that I am.” or “Bennett can’t help that Mr. Roller Coaster here should be more aptly named Mr. Butthole)

A couple more things I enjoyed, to end on a more positive note include;
- the fact that nearly all the characters worked at the theme park together. I also loved just how much they loved the park
- the way in which Lorelei’s injury was further explored when it came to its impact on her day to day life and how it affected her during sex

Despite my qualms, I am still interested in reading more of this series since there are some side characters I’d love to know more about. In particular I’m waiting for Bennett and Ruby’s story. And I would still recommend this to many romance readers.

PS if you’re wondering about the spice, I’d say… it’s maybe a tablespoon. 🤷‍♀️

All Downhill With You is a romantic comedy and enemies to lovers romance that is packed with tight-knit friendships, theme park shenanigans in a small town setting, and sizzling hot chemistry with a grumpy engineer

seriously such a wonderful story to kick-off the start of a new series! i was honestly LIVING for the enemies portion of this story as it seemed to just keep on going... it was a grumpy/sunshine situation but both Lorelei and Emory didn't dare hold back on the banter and witty retorts

i was quite in awe of their passion and dedication towards their jobs, and even though their first official meeting didn't start off so good, the atmosphere of the park definitely partook in the result of their chemistry. i must admit that even though it took me awhile to warm up to Emory, he showed some genuine attentiveness towards Lorelei in the hurt she's going through, and the thoughtfulness in their sexy-times

the Honeywood Park imagery was incredibly well written, as it felt like i was walking alongside the characters in their daily tasks (p.s. how were these people so calm around bees?!!)
and not just the park but also the vibe of the small town alongside Emory's friends which i cannot wait for their stories to be told as they were such a blast!

*thank you to the author for providing me with an arc in-exchange for an honest review*

When Julie announced this series, I just knew right away I was going to love it. I had HIGH expectations and Julie went above and beyond what I could have even dreamt up.

It's cute, funny, and the spice 😩 ugh. I loved every single second of this book. I cannot wait for the rest of this series.

It is also incredibly unique. I don't often see theme park romance stories and this should honestly just be a romance sub genre itself. 😂

There are so many fun tropes! Enemies to lovers and grumpy x sunshin

What I really, really loved was that we have equal parts romance and plot. It's so perfectly balanced I was shook. Don't get me wrong, we come for the romance, but this was like watching a really great television show because we also witness all the other things that make these people who and what they are.

FOR THE LOVE OF GODS, SOMEONE TURN THIS INTO A MOVIE.

The enemies-to-lovers energy in this book was so good - Emory was straight-up unlikeable for a good part of the exposition which I feel like is hard to do in Dual POV because even though we were seeing his POV, I still wanted to kick his ass. I do wish that we were able to see more of Lorelai and Emory together prior to the scandal - I feel like the book missed the sweet stuff of showing readers how they are as a couple before the third act conflict.

If you love amusement parks and a nerdy engineer who is DOWN BAD, you will love this book.
