Apple Music song not available in region Reddit

I find this can happen sometimes but closing Music and removing it from MT and relaunching can fix it. If that fails try a reboot. If that fails, try signing out of AM and signing back in. If that fails, contact Apple.

These notices are not Apple but the publishers and what they set the regions to.

And also remember that AM (and all music services) often drop songs or their license ps change and will be forbidden in a given region. You don’t own the song for life.

I got this message for some songs that were mysteriously greyed out on my new iPhone. At first my instinct was to be upset because the songs were ripped from physical CDs that I still own!

It turned out that I had gotten a new phone and used the restore functionality to move everything over from my old phone (using Windows iTunes). While the restore appeared to complete, and I went on my merry way with my new phone, I had not realized that many of the zillions of songs I have had not yet finished transferring over (hence the greyed out appearance... the music app "knew about" the song in my library, but there was no song file). Once I plugged my phone into iTunes it resumed syncing right away.

The unfortunate thing is that in my case the error message was confusing and misleading because it really had nothing whatsoever to do with my country or region. So, maybe if your file is missing or otherwise unreadable for any reason, iOS presents you with this error.

Songs that I’ve had in a playlist for years and years have now gone grey and I can’t select them to play them. Examples : Hozier “Angel of Small Death & The Codeine Scene”, Muse “Absolution” album, Fall Out Boy albums, Muse “Showbiz” album, Muse “The Resistance” album.

This is really weird has I have them downloaded to my iTunes library for years and years and now they’re grey and I can’t select them to play.

Like the title says. Random songs from random artists and albums will randomly become unavailable and I’m not sure why. It can’t be because artists remove it from streaming platforms because all their other songs from the album are still there and I can re-download the album and have access to the song again. For example looking at one of my playlists, these random songs are unavailable yet the rest of the album is and I have no idea why:

Ivy - Frank Ocean - Blonde, 2016

Fertilizer - Frank Ocean - channel ORANGE, 2012

I listed a few because it really looks like just random songs become unavailable and unplayable and I have no idea why.

I know I can just delete and re download the individual songs but it’s annoying to constantly be having to do that especially since I enjoy making big playlists and keeping the songs in alphabetical order by the artist’s name. So re-downloading individual songs then dragging it back to their correct spot is frustrating and time consuming.

I’m on the most recent version of iOS if that matters but this has been happening for quite some time now. Anyone else have this happen to them? Is it a bug? and if so, does anyone know how to prevent/fix this?

I haven’t checked much of this page or if there’s a Q&A, but I’m assuming this is a common problem. Has anyone found a solution? Because the song that is not available on Apple Music is available on Spotify. I am also able to play the song when I search it but not in my playlist.

The person/company that owns the rights removed the licensing.

Pirate the mp3 and upload it via the desktop app. If they wanted your $.001 for your stream they would’ve put in the effort to make sure it was available in your country.

I’ve found that sometimes if you delete and add/download the song it’ll work.
