The current season of “Put a Ring On It” ended with two of the three featured couples in the series announcing their engagement. One couple not only ended with a ring but added a baby bump to their storyline and a surprise reveal on the reunion. Charlana and her boyfriend Otis were fan favorites throughout the season although the couple struggled with communication. The reunion aired on OWN Friday, June 3 and audiences were surprised to see Charlana sporting a cute but second trimester-sizd baby bump.

“I’m happy to announce my little bundle of joy will be here very soon. Yes, I’m expecting. The amount of pressure and unwanted stress from this process while filming will somehow turn into a positive, I just know it. Of course, you saw my emotions flying everywhere but I constantly had to tell myself to stay as calm as possible when I realized I was pregnant. I did the best I could do considering the circumstances. I have so much to share and the time will come when I am able to be completely transparent with you,” Charlana explained.

While revealing the intimacies of her relationship on national television was a stressful process, Charlana says she was elated to learn she was having a baby. “A strong woman is the lifeline of her family. She carries within her the power to endure pain and the courage to sacrifice. She has the power to create and nurture life. She is indeed the epitome of love and sacrifice.”

OWN has announced that the new season of “Put a Ring On it” debuts with 10 episodes Friday, June 25th from 9 pm CST/ 10 pm ET/PT

Will Packer’s unscripted relationship series Put A Ring on It follows three longtime couples, with help from master relationship coach Dr. Nicole LaBeach, who embark on the ultimate relationship test.

From week to week the couples are pushed outside their comfort zones to confront the question they’ve been too afraid to ask: is this their happily ever after? The couples will finally find out if they are truly meant to be together by dating other people, and in so doing they’ll discover if there’s a love connection they’ve been missing all along. Will they decide it’s time to go their separate ways, or is it finally time to put a ring on it?

Couple #1 - Alexia/ Former Professional Basketball Player (34) and Darion aka Smoke/ Field Mob (40)

Dating: 14 Years

About: This couple is on until they are off again. After a decade of dating, the two have finally moved in together. Darion does not seem excited to walk down the aisle and Alexia is putting on the pressure.

Couple #2 - LaRhonda/ Energy Industry Professional (32) and Jay/ Comedian (33) 

Dating: 3 Years 

About: LaRhonda is a super successful woman who is constantly leveling up and Jay is a successful comedian. LaRhonda is the top earner in the relationship which makes Jay want to hit the breaks on marriage. Before proposing and walking down the aisle, Jay wants to make sure he can meet LaRhonda halfway, financially. 

Couple #3 - Jessica/ Entrepreneur (30) and Eric/ Retired NFL Player (35)

Dating: 4 Years

About: Eric is adjusting to life post-NFL and Jessica is adjusting to Eric being fully committed. This couple has been battling issues from Day One. The two are not on the same page about when the couple was official.

However, as more and more of these shows emerge, their premise becomes increasingly absurd.

Nonetheless, we’ve been binge-watching shows like “Too Hot to Handle” and “The Bachelorette” episode after episode. Like these shows, ‘Put a Ring on It is likely to have certain elements under the control of the producers. The show uses a third-person perspective to form a story, like Lana, from ‘Too Hot to Handle’ or from the presenter of ‘the Bachelorette.’ Dr. Nicole LaBeach, a relationship specialist on the OWN original program, is this person.

Put A Ring on it

The show’s producer, Will Packer, stated in an interview that he dislikes the show’s stage component. He prefers for everything to go as smoothly as possible. Allow the cameras to capture the action while staying out of the way of the narrative. He thinks you have the most intriguing discussions when you do that, Packer told the AJC.
