The Original Blessing of the Bikes The 51st Blessing of the Bikes – May 2023- Baldwin Michigan Lake County Chamber of Commerce is proud to be the official organizer of the Blessing of the Bikes. 2023 is the 51st Anniversary of the Original “Blessing Of The Bikes”. This event started with 8 riders and 4 motorcycles in 1972 who gathered at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church. From those humble beginnings, it has grown into one of the largest events in the area. It is attended by bikers and non-bikers alike from around the country and is open to everyone. Families come to walk around downtown Baldwin and look at the bikes and bikers and enjoy the vendors and great food. This event spreads out from Baldwin Michigan to surrounding areas and provides a lot of fun for everyone. We work hard with Para-Dice motorcycle club, the Village of Baldwin, Sheriff Department, Fire Departments, M-Dot, and many other groups and organizations to make this a great event. Note, the motorcycle festival starts on Friday and goes through Sunday. Next, vendors from all across the country will be vending all over Baldwin. On Sunday the blessing of the bikes will be held at the airport. And the gates open at 9am. Next, donation is $5/per motorcycle and not per person. And there are some 40,000 people attending the Baldwin Blessing of the Motorcycles. ** Finally, you can see what else is happening on our motorcycle events calendar. ——————— ——————— 2021 Baldwin Blessing InfoIn 2021 the Blessing of Bikes in Baldwin and Festival events will be held in May. And the Festival will be held from Friday to Sunday. And as you probably know there is more than just the Bike Blessing. For instance there is a lot more going on: vendors from across the country, food, and camping. Then the Blessing will be held on Sunday at the airport. Gates will open at 9am and 1:15pm the fee for the Baldwin Blessing of the Bikes is $5 donation. What day is the Blessing of the Bikes in Baldwin Michigan?The family-friendly event is held every year on the third Sunday in May. The market in downtown Baldwin features vendors who sell leather and other items, with tattoo artists also on-site. The actual “blessing” ceremony begins at 1pm Sunday at the Baldwin Airport, with gates opening at 9am.
How long does Blessing of the Bikes last?Music from biker/musicians hailing from Scottville, Greenville, and Six Lakes have rocked the crowd for nearly four hours, playing a variety of rock standards for an enthusiastic and appreciative crowd. This wholesome family oriented happening is held every year on the third Sunday in May.
When did Blessing of the Bikes start?The first mass blessing of bicycles was held in 1999 at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. Since its beginning the ceremony has been ostensibly non-denominational, focusing more on rider safety than religion.
