Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20 vs 21 Reddit

Is there a big difference between the shoes? I am looking for a shoe with a lot of stability and I am not that serious of a runner. Will a 20 do the job fine?

20 is a great shoe. After trying the 21 I returned it. I loved the 20 though. Unfortunately, the 21 is more rigid around the heel collar and comes up higher so rubbed around my ankle - I know I'm not the only one who had this issue but equally I know people didn't have this issue too. Pro of the 21 is that it has more forefoot cushioning if you prefer more cushioning there. They are basically the same shoe other than those two things so I would recommend trying them both and seeing which is more comfortable (if possible). It will really come down to personal preference for which is more comfortable/ fits your foot better.

I can't comment on the 20, but I have the 21. They're very comfortable indeed. The 21 now have DNA Loft throughout the whole midsole (I believe previously it was only in the heel)

The 21 also has a GuideRail system which keeps your foot straight in case you pronate.

If I were you, I'd spend a little bit more and go for the 21 because of the added stability feature.

Have you seen some Adrenaline 21 reviews @ Amazon? Yup, the shoes are superb comfortable but not that durable as its predecessor it seems… Check ‘em our — there’re some really worrying photos.

Wish I were able to find a pair of 20’s

I don’t think the fit of the 22 is as good as the 20 or 21. Specifically, I don’t like the higher heel collar of the 22. I am not sure why, but Brooks materials on the GTS 22 and Ghost 14 don’t seem to be as durable, especially the inner lining material.

For me the ride of the 22 is slightly better. I think I prefer the full length DNA LOFT of the 22s.

Minor thing, but I don’t like the flat laces of the 22s.

That said, and given the 21s didn’t work for you, I would look for more 20s on eBay. They were my favorite of the 3.

I went to the store with every intention of trying the new Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22’s on and buying it. Unfortunately my usual size felt too small and they did not have the next half size up. The clerk mistakenly brought me a half size up in the 21’s instead. I had tried the 21’s on last year and I did not like the heel but going up a half size seems to have solved that. The 21’s also feel a little big but I tend to wear thick, waterproof socks anyway. The new 22’s felt like I was more on a tilt too which I did not feel in the 21’s.

Anyway, I’m stoked to have found a good fit in the 21, now I can stock up on them at the Brooks outlet store up north. I also already did a treadmill run in the 21’s and they felt great! I can’t wait to take them outside to my favorite running path.

I love the 20’s too! Unfortunately I can’t find them in my size anymore :-( I hope the 22’s will be good because the 21’s are alright but not great.

I hope so too because I did not like the 21’s, the inner heel piece was digging into my ankle. There’s one more pair of white/gold in my size at Nordstrom rack that I might have to snag before it’s gone!

Adrenalines are my favorite. I think I have had every model from 16 to 20. I rotate to keep more in my active running shoe set, then they work their way down to everyday sneaks. Usually put 300-500 miles on them.

I wear a less common size and can usually get older models for $50-60. I guess that is the only good thing about my tiny feet.

I have quite huge feet so I think that has benefitted me, there are still some online in my size! This is my first time buying multiples of the same shoe and I’m hooked!

My faaaavorite shoe. I have 3 pairs as well! Unfortunately they are all getting up there in their mileage and I started getting aches and pains. :( The local shoe shop I go to only have 21s now. I got a pair and i just tried them out and they aren't too bad. Just the tongue is small and the laces are a little short :/ but the cushion is just as lovely.

How many miles do you usually get out of them?

Hard to say, I just got back into running last year at the beginning of the pandemic. I have about 225 miles on the black pair which is my oldest. They were ripping pretty bad so I replaced them but I just took them out for a run and they felt fine. So I’m hoping to get at least 300 out of each pair, especially if I rotate them.

For me its about 400. But my most used pair ended up being around 375 before my feet started to bother me.

The 21’s felt awful the second I put them on. Hopefully they will fix their mistakes for the 22 and give us a better shoe!

I have 2 pairs as well, they are my fav, I'm also hoping to hit 300 miles with them and keep the older pair (the black and purple) as running in the rain shoes!

I, too, buy multiple pairs of my favorite shoe until they stop making it.

I have huge flat honkers and my toes are all the same length (like flintstone feet) so I rock New Balance Avia due to the width at the toe.

This is my first time and definitely won’t be my last. I realized I needed more of these shoes ASAP.
