Yes you can cross play next gen console with this gen (Xbox anyway) as long as the next gen person is playing the current gen game.

If you mean next gen version of the game, then no. The current gen can’t play the next gen version.

NBA 2K23, the latest installment of the most popular basketball simulation video game series, was launched worldwide on Sept. 9 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Graphics

The graphics difference is fairly noticeable. NBA 2K23 runs at 1080p at 60 FPS in current gen, while it runs at 4K Ultra HD at 60 FPS in next gen, making the latter a way more accurate representation of players and courts.

The City is the Player Hub of MyCareer, where you can play against other players and get daily rewards, for example. New badge system on next gen

The badge system in MyCareer has been exclusively revamped for next gen. It now has three tiers, meaning you will need to equip a certain number of badges in the lower tiers to progress all the way to the highest tier, unlike the current badge system that is still in place for current gen.

Pricing and size

NBA 2K23’s Standard Edition is selling for $60 for current gen (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC), while the next gen (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S) costs $70 at the moment. You’ll need at least 142 GB free on your hard drive to play NBA 2K23 in next gen, while the current gen is noticeably smaller in size (123 GB).
