Convert Clip Ins?Moderator: clipinqueen Show
Convert Clip Ins?I am stuck with a full set of gorgeous Head Kandy clip ins. The clips however are horrible, they flip up and move around and the hair ends up sticking out from my head. I normally wear fusion so I'm wondering if I can cut my clips ins and bond them for a fusion install. Or, do any of you have any other suggestions? I take great care of my fusion installs and don't wear them too long but I've got so much thinning and damage from fusion. I'm debating not even continuing with this method even know I love how permanent it is etc.... I've been growing out my hair but now it's so thin, I'm going to have to hack it back off again if I choose to go extension-less. hrc59blonde Posts: 44Joined: Fri Jan 09, 2009 2:05 pmLocation: Maryland Re: Convert Clip Ins?by clipinqueen on Tue May 25, 2010 4:15 pmHey Hrc59; Sorry to hear about the damage you are getting from fusion. You can definitely convert your clip-ins to a more permanent extension method. I have converted several clip-ins sets to tape/glue method (which I love). You could do microrings with them or even sew-in. It sounds like you are straying from fusion so am am not mentioning that one! Note that you can make your clips more secure on your own by just sewing them around the top of the clip, so they don't move. I have had to do that myself. It's very easy to do. You can also do a hybrid mix method of clips for the bottom of your head and taped wefts or micros at the top. HTH! clipinqueenModerator Posts: 2250Joined: Wed Jan 17, 2007 8:38 pmLocation: CanadaRe: Convert Clip Ins?by ashleybelle83 on Wed May 26, 2010 11:27 pmi also have a set of headkandy clip ins and it is great hair and beautiful coloring... i agree with you on the clips, though> HORRIBLE. and they hurt so bad. I also have extremely fragile hair that breaks and falls out easily, and i HAVE to tell you - you really should try the tape method. Yes, its not as permanent, but ill take that any day over the damage from fusion. My hair has actually gotten better since wearing it... If I were you, I would buy some of singers wefting tape and make your own seamless wefts with the headkandy hair. i really think youll love it! ashleybelle83 Posts: 28Joined: Thu Aug 28, 2008 2:46 pmLocation: South CarolinaRe: Convert Clip Ins?by clipinqueen on Fri May 28, 2010 2:57 pm^^^I have to agree Ashley; my hair has improved since wearing tape too! It's a great method and perfect for someone who has to do her roots every month! It also works for me because I like to deep condition my own natural hair every week and I can do that with the tape without problem. clipinqueenModerator Posts: 2250Joined: Wed Jan 17, 2007 8:38 pmLocation: CanadaRe: Convert Clip Ins?by frenchie on Fri May 28, 2010 9:01 pmClipin- You put deep conditioner on your tape really? It doesn't slip?... Frenchie frenchie Posts: 1123Joined: Sun Sep 03, 2006 4:05 pmLocation: New York Re: Convert Clip Ins?by clipinqueen on Mon May 31, 2010 2:03 pmWell, I TRY to not put it right on the tapes, and I definitely don't work the conditioner in at those spots, but I certainly don't use delicate placement! I don't even bother leaving my hair 100% squeaky clean before my install either. I can't bare the thought of leaving my hair without leave-in conditioner before I blowdry (not even once). I always remind myself that I am wearing extensions to grow my own hair in more healthy, so it's my main priority, not the fake hair. But the tapes never slip! clipinqueenModerator Posts: 2250Joined: Wed Jan 17, 2007 8:38 pmLocation: CanadaRe: Convert Clip Ins?by frenchie on Mon May 31, 2010 3:57 pmOh wow ok. And you use supertape with the squeeze bottle of LG still, right? I almost think it's holding better without the extra glue! I only decided to go without the glue because I get tired of waiting for my longer temple-temple wefts to release with Goo Gone. It holds TOO well. LOL! There is a lot less mess without all the added liquid gold and I realize (other than ends of tape) that it was not really necessary for me. clipinqueenModerator Posts: 2250Joined: Wed Jan 17, 2007 8:38 pmLocation: CanadaRe: Convert Clip Ins?by hrc59blonde on Tue Jun 01, 2010 3:01 pmWow! Thanks everyone! I actually ordered Donna Bella Rebonds and was hoping to convert my headkandy extensions to fusion. I tried to make a few and am really struggling with it. Any tips or tools anyone can recommend? If I can get these bonded and installed I will have some time to "plan" out a tape install. I would love to hear more about tape too! What is wefting tape and seamless wefts? hrc59blonde Posts: 44Joined: Fri Jan 09, 2009 2:05 pmLocation: Maryland Re: Convert Clip Ins?by frenchie on Tue Jun 01, 2010 4:47 pmClipin- Hrc59blonde, sorry for having hijacked your thread! We have hair ADD over here! Frenchie frenchie Posts: 1123Joined: Sun Sep 03, 2006 4:05 pmLocation: New York Re: Convert Clip Ins?by clipinqueen on Wed Jun 02, 2010 2:40 pm^^^Thanks Frenchie. It's so weird how everyone finds a different adhesive/method better for their particular hair/head! It's great that you can just go with liquid gold for an install. It must be something to do with an individual's chemistry? Hrc59: wefts can be machine made or hand-tied and are basically the long 'strings' of wefts you find in beauty supply hair -- it's sewn together. seamless wefts are wefts without the sewn part; they are usually made of skin and often appear like your scalp so you can wear them very high up -- up to partline. I hope this makes sense! clipinqueenModerator Posts: 2250Joined: Wed Jan 17, 2007 8:38 pmLocation: CanadaReturn to Extensions Who is onlineUsers browsing this forum: No registered users and 3 guests Can you turn clip in extensions into weave?Yes, you can! With Micro Ring / Beads!
Can I tape in my own extensions?Tape in hair extensions are an excellent option for those who want hair extensions but might not want the expense and potential pain and hair damage that comes with other extension methods. Tape in hair extensions are fairly easy to install, and in a pinch, you can install them yourself.
Are tape ins or clip ins better?Least Damaging: Tape in extensions are the least damaging on the market. They are very lightweight and do not pull on your own hair like other extensions do - they grow out with your own hair and do not tug or pull. Clip in extensions are actually VERY heavy and will cause bald spots if you wear them every day.
