i want to play new game plus to get all the collectibles and finish upgrading equipment and improving skills, however the game forces you to play on the "ultimate" difficulty. i'm not doing that. does anyone know a way to get around the fixed difficulty setting for new game plus?

You can't change the difficulty for NG+ to compensate for the upgrades you have.

Ultimate difficulty was easy in New Game +. Only difference that I noticed was riverboat section where enemies did not have red targets above their head. NG+ is good for leveling skills, what was missed can be done in chapter select via old save, as NG+ takes another save spot.

Yes, can confirm. Just finished the game and all achievements with invincible mode on.

As a bonus postgame feature that breathes new life into the game for repeat runs, New Game Plus will allow you to retain any progression you have made with Spider-Man himself.

Other unlockables that are found in the game world, such as Backpacks, Challenges, Crimes, and Landmarks, amongst others, are reset. All carried over progression include Levels, Skills, Upgrades, and Suits.

Ultimate difficulty, the most difficult of the different selections in-game, can be unlocked by completing the Main Story, similar to New Game Plus. Upon unlocking this difficulty, players can have the choice of starting a fresh New Game or a New Game Plus with this difficulty setting selected.

By unlocking New Game+, 2 new trophies become available in addition to the Ultimate Difficulty: One More Time and Power and Responsibility Trophies.

Trophy Guide and Roadmap

The only way to unlock New Game Plus in-game is by completing the Main Story all the way through. From there, New Game Plus will be accessible through the Main Menu by interacting with the main save file in which the game's Main Story has been completed.

Return to the Main Menu

After completing the final Mission and defeating the Final Boss of the Main Story, exit the game back to the Main Menu.

Select a Finished Save Game

At the Main Menu, select the save file that has the completed Main Story – press the highlighted button to begin a New Game Plus.

The game will let you select which save file you wish to save the NG+ save in, as well as whatever difficulty you wish to start with.

Once you begin NG+, you'll be loaded into the game's first Mission – Clearing the Way.

New Game Plus allows you to begin the game again, creating a new save, but with all of the skills, suits, upgrades, tokens, and gadgets you've unlocked from your previous playthrough! You'll need to replay the story and unlock all the different activities once again, now with your whole arsenal at your disposal!

This was introduced in 2018 with a patch for the original Spider-Man game, along with the first of the 3 DLCs!

What difficulty is New Game Plus?

You can play NG+ on any difficulty level; Easy, Normal, Hard, Survival, or try it in one of our two new difficulty modes: Hard II and Survival II, regardless of the previous difficulty mode. These new difficulty modes are not specific to NG+ and can be experienced by brand new players as well.

If you plan to complete everything Spider-Man: Miles Morales has to offer, it will take you around 18 hours. The reason being is that it requires you to replay the main story on New Game Plus, so you can hit level 30 and unlock every skill.
