Can you save cars in GTA 5 story mode

Ok, found this (seemingly) very rare 'gasser' in Story Mode, so I ran and put it in my garage. Saved.

So, it's always there in my garage, but I'm scared to death to take it out for fear of loosing it.

Any way to ensure (insure) keeping it?

It would suck to have a nice fully upgraded Adder that I bought online just so it could tout my license plate fall into a lake.

Not really. The only way to ensure a car doesn't disappear or gets lost is to park it in your garage and save the game. But, if you drive around a car and blow it up/crash it, you won't get it back. Insurance would be a fantastic SP option, but of course it's becoming clear that R* is focusing on the online and not the SP. The SP is almost an afterthought at this point.

Dang. Will they at least be impounded?

Not really, as you can't buy insurance or track it like you could in MP.

You're best bet is to simply make sure you have a save before doing anything drastic and that way you never have to worry. Play, screw around, drive, jump, spin, whatever. You make it, fine...go somewhere and save or quicksave again.

If you don't, enjoy the carnage, then reload last save.

If you leave your car somewhere, yes after awhile you can pick it up at the impound lot.

If you blow it up though, no.

But be aware that there are only 2 impound spots I do believe, so check it periodically to make sure it isn't full. I think it keeps the first 2 cars that are impounded and doesn't impound any after that, if that makes sense...

Hmm. Is it possible to retrieve those two impounded cars and then replace them? Maybe by just leaving the original two somewhere, and then taking and destroying or abandoning two more?

I think I'll go test this out...

My worst instance of losing a car? Bought an Adder, and just finished fully upgrading it. Driving along seeing just how it performed, when I slipped up and rammed another car that I otherwise should have just missed, and Franklin got launched through the windshield. Surprisingly enough, he survived, so once he got up, I turned around to get back in the car. Only for the car to be nowhere to be found. It just disappeared.

Second worst was driving an Inferenus, and had the same situation, only that time the character didn't make it. Naturally, once he respawned at the hospital, the car was long gone.

Another thing. Is it me, or does it seem that the rarer and/or more expensive a car is, the more likely you are to get ejected from it in a collision? Even with the faster cheap/common cars, it seems to happen rarely. But with the really expensive/rare ones, it happens very easily.

Seriously? Have you played the SP in this game? There is a massive amount of attention to detail. It's obvious that they spent a ton of time planning and making the SP. If there is any game in existance that you can look at and say that they paid a ton of attention to the SP it's this one. There is more thought and effort put into the SP and story in this game than a lot of games that are SP only. Has the complaint that devs ignore SP become so ingrained that we just throw it out there even when it doesn't apply?

I think his point is that there are a lot of things that are online-only that would make a lot of sense to have in the singleplayer but we'll never see.

Couple that with the fact Rockstar's said all DLC will be for the online only and you can see where their heart is at this point.

GTA V's SP is very solid but at the same time it feels rushed despite the size of it, with a lot of features (garage/car system, some non-repeatable activities, gun customization) that could have been slightly better than they are.

How do I permanently keep a car in GTA 5?

To save it, just park it inside. It's saved there as long as you park it back in there after you use it. You can also use the garages in Los Santos, that you have to buy.

How many cars can you save in GTA 5 story mode?

Each character has a purchasable 4 car garage, in these you can only store 4 cars. You can store 2 cars in Michael's safehouse garage, 2 at Franklin's Safehouse garage, and 1 at each of Trevor's safehouse garages. This leaves you with a grand total of 18 cars you can store in Story Mode.

Can you lose cars you buy in GTA 5 story mode?

In story mode the car will also get impounded if you lose it(or get too far away from it). You maybe have to wait a little bit or go to sleep until the car is in the impound garage. Only 2 cars can be impounded. If a third car is parked in this garage, the first one gets removed and can never be retreived again.
