Can you still buy characters in Jump force?

So it slipped my mind that the game was getting delisted today so in a rush I went to the Xbox store and bought the Ultimate Edition and Character Pass 2 online while I was at work, I come home and download everything but the Character Pass 2 wasn’t in the owner games tab, and some of the characters from CP1 is missing as well. Has anyone else come across this issue?

As it was announced back in November 2021, today is the last day in which Bandai Namco's Jump Force can be purchased digitally. It'll still be possible to pick up Jump Force digitally today until 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET.

"Our sincere thanks goes out to all Jump Force players and fans for their support; but with all good things, they must come to an end," wrote Bandai Namco on Twitter back then. "Jump Force’s availability through digital purchase in the Americas will end on 2/7/2022 at 5 PM PST."

Jump Force initially launched with a base roster of 40 characters — Asta, Ichigo Kurosaki, Rukia Kuchiki, Renji Abarai, Sōsuke Aizen, Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Piccolo, Frieza, Cell, Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, Gaara, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, Izuku Midoriya, Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Vinsmoke Sanji, Sabo, Boa Hancock, Blackbeard, Boruto Uzumaki, Ryo Saeba, Dai, Kenshiro, Gon Freecss, Killua Zoldyck, Kurapika, Hisoka Morow, Jotaro Kujo, DIO, Yusuke Urameshi, Younger Toguro, Yugi Muto/Yami Yugi, Dragon Shiryū, Pegasus Seiya, Shishio Makoto and Himura Kenshin.

14 additional characters were later added to the game via two character passes. These DLC characters are TĹŤshirĹŤ Hitsugaya, Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, Yoruichi ShihĹŤin, Majin Buu, Biscuit Krueger, Meruem, Giorno Giovanna, All Might, Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto Todoroki, Madara Uchiha, Trafalgar D. Water Law, Seto Kaiba and Hiei.

According to Bandai Namco, these DLC characters will also be unavailable for purchase after today. Even if you picked up Jump Force physically, today is the last chance to acquire these fighters.

It's also worth noting that most of Jump Force's online services will be deactivated in August 2022. While it will still be possible to participate in online battles, ranked mode is among the modes that will be going away in August.

Hope you’re excited about Naruto in Fortnite, because that might be the only way you’re getting to play as him for the foreseeable future. Today, Bandai Namco has announced that you’ll no longer be able to purchase Jump Force digitally or get any of its DLC as of February 2022, and much of the game’s online services will be shut down the following August.

Across Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch, Jump Force will be delisted on February 7 at 5pm PST / 8pm EST, ot February 8 at 1am GMT. At the same time, all DLC characters will be delisted, including everyone from Seto Kaiba to Giorno Giovanna. You will still be able to play the game and use any DLC you’ve previously purchased even after it’s all delisted.

On August 24, online services will be shut down. You’ll still be able to get into normal, non-ranked PvP battles, but according to the announcement, pretty much everything else is going: logging into the multiplayer lobby, online events, clan functions, viewing the Notice Board, viewing the leaderboards, accepting Rewards from the Reward Counter, in-game store, premium shop, and online ranked match options will all be removed.

It’s unclear why Jump Force is getting delisted, but the most likely explanation is licensing restrictions, as the game features a massive roster of characters handled by a wide range of international publishers. Comparable delistings include older Forza and Need for Speed games, which have been removed from sale due to expiring car licenses.

Jump Force (opens in new tab) brings some of the most iconic heroes and villains from Weekly Shonen Jump into one massive crossover for some 3v3 battles, and of course you want to unlock all the Jump Force characters in the roster. A fighting game's lineup is paramount to its success, and Jump Force is packing an impressive 40 characters at launch (though strangely, only three of them are women). And while you can't technically play as just anyone right from the start, unlocking all the Jump Force characters is quick and painless compared to the unlock grind in games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (opens in new tab)

With Jump Force's strange insistence on making you use an in-game hub world rather than a main menu to access different modes, it can be confusing to know where to begin. But here are the simple steps you need to take in order to get all the Jump Force characters unlocked ASAP.

How to unlock Jump Force characters

The first time you boot up Jump Force, you're suddenly thrust straight into the story mode. And if you hoped to get into a match straight away, I have some bad news: you're going to need to watch some cutscenes first, because they're unskippable. After watching Frieza wreak havoc in New York City's Times Square, Trunks and his robot pal Navigator will fill you in on the dire situation. You'll then go into the create-a-character mode to construct your hero. If you just want to get to the action quickly, simply settle for one of the default models and continue.

Once your body's "reconstruction" is complete, you'll need to go through a brief combat tutorial, which is worth playing through to get a feel for the flow of the fights. But if you want to speed through it simply beat up the AI opponent until they're KOed to skip the tutorial. From there, you, Trunks, and Goku will beam up to Umbras Base, the main hub of the entire game.

After a brief chat with the base's director, Glover, you'll need to visit the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma sectors within the base to meet with team leaders Goku, Luffy, and Naruto, respectively. Reaching these three heroes is simple - just run down the stairs under their giant lettered entryway and you'll find them waiting for you with a quest prompt floating over their heads. Talk with them all and make your way back to the central area via the same stairs. You can explore further via alternate passageways, but the Umbras Base is oddly huge, and it's easy to get lost in a massive, empty hallway.

When you've successfully talked to all three leaders return to the main hub and look for an unmarked staircase between the Gamma and Beta pathways in the central area. Run down those steps and you'll find Glover, who will ask you to choose a leader before one more tutorial. Once you've completed that, congratulations - you now have access to all 40 Jump Force characters! Now, when you visit the Offline and Online Battle stations, you can scroll through the entire roster to your heart's content. Bear in mind that for the Key Missions in the story campaign, you'll still need to expand your team bit by bit, unlocking more characters the further you fight into the single-player content. And nine more fighters are still on the way via paid DLC, so plan accordingly if you want a complete roster!

Will Jump Force no longer sell?

Bandai Namco will keep Jump force's online services live until August 25, 2022; only local single-player modes will be available after. Popular anime brawler, Jump Force has been permanently delisted from all digital storefronts, as of today.

Why is Jump Force being discontinued?

Though there's been no official reasoning provided for the removal of Jump Force from all digital stores, odds are that it's got something to do with the impressive variety of different IPs that the game played host to. The game's final DLC, for example, featured a major character from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
