I have the exact same problem. But after random videos on youtube, i found out that your internet connection for your wii call NAT type, must be strict. It Must say open. How would you found if your NAT type is strict or not? You just did, unable to invite w/ friends is a sign. I Know this because this problem also occurs in XBox 360's. Just get a Internet Guy to help fix the problem.

Its usually because the game they are in is full or connection problems unless you are doing it wrong.

I've had this problem before, what i did to fix it was i just disconnected from my wifi router then reconnected, you should probably have your friends do this too and make sure your connecting to the closest router. hope this helps but no promises so dont freak on me if it doesnt help

#2 AND also, I've noticed a LOT of connection problems coming from the server for the game rooms, itself-(think overloaded)- apparently a REALLY popular game !***NOT CONFIRMED as server overload, but seems likely ***

It's because the server he was in is now full(I.E has 8 people) and so you cannot join. You should stay in your lobby and invite there.

That will usually if you let your friend wait too long. They'll probably just forget about the party thing and will go straight to a game.

Sometimes people just can't join other people's games. I am not entirely sure whether to blame the connection of the players or the servers, but I have heard people solve this problem through doing some port forwarding.
