The free section of Craigslist is a jumble of objects in limbo – items that owners refuse to toss, but wouldn't bother selling.

What inspires someone to list an object for free on Craigslist, rather than throw it away? Hauling a sagging mattress or a heavy table to the dump can be costly; it's often easier to let a stranger take hefty objects off your hands.

It's the smaller, easy-to-toss items that raise eyebrows. Scottish philosopher Thomas Carlyle once wrote, "In every object there is inexhaustible meaning." The same could likely be said for the free Craigslist listings, the underlying sentiment of which is that one man's trash is another man's treasure.

"Great job. I reached out for a quote, received one almost instantly, and Fred and his partner Rafael were at my place the next morning. Arrived about half an hour into my 2 hour window. I had a bunch of demolitioned carpet and laminate flooring that needed to be removed, and they did it all under half an hour. Super fast and efficient once they started. I have neighbors below me and so it could have been a little quieter, but they worked hard and they worked fast, so overall I was satisfied. If you're looking for fast, convenient, and efficient junk removal, you should definitely check this place out."
