Does dragon age 2 have controller support

A while back I decided that it'd probably be best to play Dragon Age games on PC because I kept having bugs in the console versions (with a PC it's sometimes easier to find ways around bugs).

But I remember that Dragon Age 2 seemed to be really designed for a controller. Does the PC version let you use a controller or does it force you to use a keyboard and mouse? And how does the keyboard and mouse setup feel in DA2?

The only way you would be able to play the PC versoin of Dragon Age with a controller, would be by downloading a program like Xpadder, which would allow you to map the keys of your keyboard/mouse to said controller.

Yeah, Seen that one. Also heard that it has something to do with the settings for the game. Someone suggested looking for a patch.

Honestly with the way the ui is I doubt it would work. Honestly though DA: O is not a game difficult to use with M/K even for someone who can not use it M/K normally. It also is not the kind of game I would actually normaly want to use a gamepad on.

It is very difficult to map free mouse movement onto a controller. Luckily some games are built with controller support like the 360 controller, but as far as I know there is no controller support for Dragon Age. Sorry. :/

This is one of those games you can play a lot better with a KB/M. I also have an Xbox Controller, but I never even thought to use it, just because it would be clumsier.
Trust me, once you get used to KB/M controls, you'll see it's better than a controller, and you'll have a blast playing it.

You can map one of your analog sticks to the mouse- but honestly it's just easier to use the mouse itself. That said there are currently four profiles on their site for this specific game, with two being made by the developers themselves. The program has a free trial- but ultimately you have to pay.

The only reason that I would prefer the Xbox controller for Dragon Age Origins is that I hate that with the M/K you have to stop your character from moving so that you can hold shift to keep the camera following the character. Everything else about the M/K controls are fine to me, even better than on the console. More precise, I mean. I just hate that the movement/camera movement isn't very fluid.

You don't have to use shift to make the camera follow you... Just move it to where your character is vaguely in the center, and it'll snap to your character and automatically follow them around as soon as you start moving. Or you could just zoom in a little bit and then zoom back out. The camera only stops following the character if you move it manually, like when you move your mouse to the edges of the screen.

As soon as people can figure out how to make games work with a gamepad controller, gaming companies are gonna double their profits overnight, so what is taking them so long to figure out such a simple thing? I would buy like 100 games from steam if my controller worked. I'm not downloading any Xpadder or crap like that. Just make it work right by itself. This game looks soo fun, but it's soo stupid using wasd to walk. ain't doin' it.

Why would you necro a 2 year old dead thread for your useless statement though?

Except for one thing: Dragon Age Origins controller support is unavailable initially, that might get you confused if you'd like to play with a controller.
