What is in a Dunkin Donuts Refresher?

So what exactly goes into a Dunkin Refresher? A few simple ingredients, that's what! Here is a quick look at the ingredients in a Dunkin refresher:

  1. Iced green tea- Iced green tea is the base of every refresher. Dunkin uses green tea extract which is strong and easy to put together quickly.
  2. Fruit flavor concentrate- The fruit flavor in your refresher will depend on which refresher flavor you order! The flavors come in the form of syrups so they are not only tasty, but sweet. Most of the fruit flavors are artificial but some are also made with natural fruits.
  3. B vitamins- A blend of B3, B5, B6 and B12 vitamins are added to every refresher to give it a little health boost. The vitamin blend is flavorless and mild, giving you a little nutrition without affecting the yummy taste of the refresher.

Lots of refreshers are also made with coconut milk. You can ask for different milks if you’d like since all refreshers are made to order. However, coconut milk really gives the refresher a tropical, summer taste that we love. We think you will love it too!

Are Dunkin Donuts Refreshers Healthy?

While we love indulging in tasty drinks, we also like drinks that are healthy and add something beneficial to our diet. So the big question is, are Dunkin Donuts refreshers healthy? The quick answer: yes and no.

To begin, lets talk about calories. When it comes to drinks, refreshers are not so bad if you are looking at straight calories. How many calories in a dunkin donuts refresher? Anywhere between 80 to 180 for a small refresher, depending on the type of refresher you order. A small, plain peach refresher has just 80 calories while the refreshers with coconut milk will contain more.

Most of the calories in a refresher come from fat and sugar. Coconut milk refresher have more calories due to the fats in coconut milk. The rest of the calories are from sugar. And there is quite a lot of sugar in a Dunkin Donuts refresher.

The smallest size Dunkin refresher has about 18-20 grams of sugar. And that is the lowest end of the spectrum! Different flavors will have even more sugar. This is the part of the refresher that you want to be aware of. All that sugar can add up quickly!

So what about the vitamin blend in the refreshers? Dunkin adds a blend of B vitamins to every refresher. These vitamins are designed to give you a natural boost of energy, boost your metabolism and also help your skin glow. Sounds pretty great, right? It is! This part of the refresher is pretty healthy and will give you a little natural energy to help you get through the day. Which leads us to our next question….

Does Dunkin Donuts Refreshers have Caffeine?

Yes! Dunkin Donuts refreshers do have caffeine. They are made with green tea which is naturally caffeinated. One 16 ounce refresher has about 66 mg of caffeine. To put that in perspective, one cup of coffee has about 95 mg of caffeine. So, Dunkin refreshers are only lightly caffeinated, but it is definitely still there!

Can you get a Dunkin Donuts refresher without caffeine? Unfortunately, no. The main ingredient in a refresher is the green tea extract which is caffeinated. It can’t be swapped or removed without really changing the drink. However, we like the little boost of energy and taste of the green tea extract and think you will too! It isn’t too strong or artificial in any way so it may be just what you are looking for!

Dunkin Donuts refreshers are one of our favorite drinks of the summer. They are cool and flavorful, tasty and, well, refreshing! There are also so many unique flavors and new flavors being created so frequently that there is always something new to try.

For me the drink itself was a 7/10. It tasted really sweet and I felt that there wasn't enough green tea taste.
