I had an exam last friday in a fucking bird course. I knew I was going to ace it so I got hammered the night before, slept through my alarm and am now fucked. To have my exam deffered and be able to write it again I either need a medical excuse with proof from a doctor or an excuse of compassion, again I somehow need proof of that. Any suggestions?

find something from a funeral on the internet, throw it in photoshop, change the date. MONEY.

Or if your mom is cool say your mom was incredible sick for 2 weeks and you had no choice but to go home and help her with stuff. Have mom write an email confirming the story, thats where the cool mom comes in. if she is really cool have her holla at me.

My friend spent a week in a hospital after a near death injury and he had a hard enough time getting his exams deferred, he was recovering for months and had notes from specialists, psychologists, neuropsychiatrists, and the school was going to make him write them anyways but eventually they caught on and he got out of it.

It is incredibly hard to get a medical (or any kind of) exemption at university, especially in a situation like this. You failed your exam, and now you have to deal with it. I can't help but think you're a dumbass for getting hammered the night before your exam.

This. Also, are you sure you dont have any "free" deferrals, I know at my school we are able to have like two deferrals during your time at school or something like that without question.

I did the same thing in my first year. I just told my dean that I forgot to attend and since other people had already deferred the same test it wasn't that big of a deal. They let me rewrite and told me not to do it again.

This. I do feel for you though, I've done some pretty stupid shit regarding school hahha. As a general rule now I'm not taking classes that aren't required or really a specific area of interest for me. You can save yourself a lot of money and time if you avoid courses you won't be interested in anyways.

Go meet with your professor in person, and tell him that during the night before the final one of your roommates overloaded power circuit/fuse to your room and caused your room to lose power. Then you say since I have a alarm clock and the power went out, it reset and my alarm never went off and I slept through the exam. That is your best bet of trying to retake the final. There is no way it can be disproven, and can easily happen. Going to the Dean with a medical excuse is going to be a disaster. Your best off dealing with the professor as it will be informal and the grading is entirely up to him, you go to someone above him they are going to follow strict university protocol, which will suck for you.

My dad is a professor, so I have heard most of the tricks, and I think this is your best shot. O yea the above situation happend to one of my friends, since then I have set 3 alarms, one clock, and two more on my phone before exams/finals, I suggest you do the same if plan on drinking the night before a final.

This. Your only real course of action is to tell your teacher that your alarm was broken and that you weren't woken up to go to the final. That really only works if you show up right after the test though. The longer you wait, the slimmer your chances of success are.

You should have found the professor immediately after you woke up and told him/her that you accidentally slept through your alarm looking really concerned and apologetic...

But now that you're screwed, go to mommy or daddy and tell them that you slept through your alarm and you're screwed. They'll write an email. That's what mommys and daddys do.

Next time, don't be so dumb. You couldn't wait a day to get hammered?

Unfortunately, you probably should have thought of something to tell your prof on Friday, not today. I missed a final after thinking it was in the afternoon instead of the morning. I went to the prof right away and wrote it right then.

I over slept for an exam once (didn't get hammered etc.) - I emailed my tutor, told him that i was really unwell the night before and in the morning and that I could not face cycling to campus in my condition. When he asked for more information I just told him that it was "bad at both ends". He understood. Took the exam a week later no questions asked. Still hate myself for it though, have no idea how i managed to over sleep.

go to the hospital right away and see a doctor for SOMETHING.

when you finally see him, ask a doctor's note. say it's "just to document that you were there, for future purposes". don't say it's cause you missed an exam or anyhting.

i suggest you go and say that your throat is really sore and are having trouble swallowing, or maybe that you whacked your head on the ground and have a headache and just wanted to play it safe by seeing a doc.

yo its actually not very hard to get exams deferred at ubc.

Just from being in the ubc hospital for checkups on a buncha shit last year and this, some docs have been like, "so do you want a note so you can have exams or deadlines pushed back further?"

I don't understand how the school would have given rowens a hard time, that's some bullshit

worked for me. My room mate had a sinus infection and he got a package of 6 pills in a box that said zithromax on it. I peeled off the perscription sticker, brought it into a teacher, and told them I had strep.

His program probably more than anything.

Doctor's note =/= instantly pushed back, the school makes the decision based on how much you need it. You have to ask them, then they make a decision. You basically need to be completely unable to write exams, and be able to prove it. I think there's a lot of stuff that you could get notes for and they would make you write it anyways. Just my opinion though, based on the 1 person I've seen try to defer exams.

The best excuse is going to be one based on the truth. Key word: based. So you got drunk and slept through your exam. How about this: You were studying and your friends spiked your drink bottle with vodka without you knowing, thinking it would be a great joke. They didn't know you had an exam the next day and that you needed to study hard for it. The result is you went to bed drunk and slept in, missed your exam and you've been trying to work out what happened since. But only this morning two of your friends finally admitted to what they did. Use friends outside university if you can, so they can't be punished. But if they're willing to write a letter and give phone numbers for reference sake then you might be able to get away with it. Through the whole thing play the dumb card...."why would I drink intentionally the night before an exam??"...."I've been wondering why I felt like rubbish for days now!"

take all your study notes to your professor as proof that you were well prepared. You'll sound more convincing if you use this along with a valid excuse. I'd probably just go with the truth, say it's your first year and you're not familiar with the exam routine. Mention that you had lots of exams this year and were overwhelmed with so many to study for.

If you have no shame whatsoever and a common last name just look in the obituaries from any town within 300 miles for somebody with the same last name as you who died early in the week and who had a funeral on friday.

BULLETPROOF PLAN IF YOU CAN IGNORE YOUR CONSCIENCE ENTIRELY, here is one that you will not have to provide any proof for. Tell them that your girlfriend got pregnant and had her abortion scheduled for friday right before your exam. If the prof. seems conservative tell him that you went with her to try to change her mind last minute; if they seem liberal tell him that you went with for moral support. In any case, tell the professor that you planned to take her to the appointment, bring her home, and take the exam, but that on the way home you both had a mental breakdown and could not take a test at all and that you had to stay with her.
