EDIT: SOLVED - Solution is to do a SYNC Reboot. This can be done by going to: Phone > System Settings > Advanced > SYNC Reboot Show Has anyone encountered this issue when using Ford SYNC v4.6? Here's what has happened to me, TWICE now (over the span of 3 months). Here is my setup
I'll be streaming audio fine from my phone via Bluetooth. All of a sudden, the music will stop, i'll receive a message in my dash stating "Bluetooth Media Disconnected" and I can no longer stream audio. The "Media Audio" option under my Bluetooth option for the SYNC paired device gets ticked in the "OFF" mode. I'll switch it to "ON" and try to connect again, and the same thing happens. Message in the dash gives same message and the option is ticked "OFF" in the Bluetooth settings again. Now, the FIRST time this happened to me, I did the following as outlined on this post, and it resolved it. For reference, this is what I did to resolve it the first time this happened:
Everything worked after that, for about 3 months now. Now, the SECOND time, which is happening right now, this method does not work and I cannot get the phone to stream Bluetooth audio. The phone functionality works fine, it's just the Media audio portion that will not work again. In order to upgrade to v4.6 as well, I had to bring my vehicle into the dealership and they had to update it using their VIP (Vehicle Interface Protocol) system. As a consumer, we can use the CIP option (Consumer Interface Protocol). I was told by someone I spoke to over at Blue Oval Forums [FordTech2] that only the dealership can apply this update (SYNC v4.6). So, I took it in, and they updated it. In order for them to update it a Service Bulletin had to be announced, which was (TSB 13-9-22) and would update to v4.6 (DG1T-14D544-AB). I was happy, had the Bluetooth media Artist / Song displaying now instead of the generic Bluetooth message. But, later that month, this whole process started. And now it is happening again, but I cannot resolve it. I saw that someone uploaded the SYNC v4.6 files online on this post, and it can be installed via USB using the CIP method. I'm going to run a Vehicle Health Report (EDIT: It failed every time I tried running it, kept telling me "The Vehicle Health Report could not be submitted at this time." (I had the car running for 20+ min and my number is on my Ford SYNC page as my primary number, phone is paired as well.) and then try to re-apply the update myself with a USB drive using the SYNC v4.6 files. I'm just not sure if it will reject the update since it is already installed, or what would happen in this scenario. Doing a Master Reset did not resolve the issue, or deleting all devices and repairing them nor wiping the cache partition from my devices. Anyone else have this issue or know of a solution? Is there a newer version of Ford SYNC out yet for Gen1 devices? (ie. v4.7 or v5?) I Tweeted @Ford about this as well, awaiting a response.
