Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. All savings accounts are insured up to at least $250,000 by the NCUA, the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the federal government.

  • A credit union is a cooperative, not-for-profit financial institution organized to promote thrift and provide credit to members. It is member-owned and controlled by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. Each credit union member owns one "share" of the organization which entitles them to one vote on important issues, such as the election of member representatives to serve on the Board of Directors. The Board establishes and revises policy, sets dividend and loan rates, and directs certain operations. The result: members are provided with a safe, convenient place to save and borrow money at reasonable rates at an institution which exists to benefit them, not to solely make a profit.

  • The primary purpose in furthering their goal of service is to encourage members to save money. Another purpose is to offer loans to members. In fact, credit unions have traditionally made loans to people of ordinary means. Credit unions can charge lower rates for loans (as well as pay higher dividends on savings) because they are not-for-profit cooperatives. Rather than paying profits to stockholders, credit unions return earnings to members in the form of dividends or improved services.

  • Our field of membership is open to active duty military, retired military, AUSA members, persons who live, worship, work (or regularly conduct business in) or attend school, businesses and other legal entities in Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Moore, Robeson, or Scotland County, NC. Dependents and immediate family members are also eligible for membership.

  • Your debit card is actually two cards in one. It works as an ATM card and can be used at any ATM or POS (point of sale) by using your personal identification number (PIN). It also works like a Visa card and can be used anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. It is processed exactly like a Visa transaction except the money comes directly out of your checking account. The difference: For a VISA transaction, you will have to sign for authorization. For a POS transaction, you will be asked to enter your PIN.

  • During our business hours, call us at (910) 864-2232 or (800) 793-2328 to report a lost VISA debit or VISA credit card. After business hours, call (888) 373-5714. You may also contact any VISA merchant to report the card lost or stolen.

  • If your VISA card is lost or stolen report it immediately, during business hours to (910) 864-2232, after business hours, call (888) 373-5714 or report it to any VISA merchant.
