Former preacher Mike Huckabee idolizes pussy-grabber Donald Trump to such a degree, he is now peddling his book The Kids Guide to President Trump in a video ad tweeted by Aaron Rupar and seen on Fox News (see below). Not only does the book "teach kids all about Trump's [anti-democratic] accomplishments and his [fascist] vision of America," Huckabee says, but he wants you to "have it for free." Which, in con artist Huckabee's world, means you'll actually be duped into paying $21.90 for the indoctrinating "bundle" it comes with, plus an extra $6.49 per month for his EverBright Kids propaganda magazine, according to Huckabee's own site that promotes his Trump bible. But of course, belonging to a cult never comes for free.
Mike Huckabee, the former Governor of Arkansas, has been criticized for his latest advert promoting his children's book, The Kids Guide to President Trump. Huckabee, an ardent supporter of Donald Trump, has been
running adverts on right-wing television networks and social media promoting the educational book since 2020. On
Tuesday, an ad for The Kids Guide to President Trump, which is part of a series of "The Kids Guide" books, magazines and videos operated by Huckabee's EverBright Media, was featured on Fox News and shared on Twitter by journalist Aaron Rupar. "Isn't it amazing how so much that President Trump said still rings true,"
Huckabee said in the latest advert. "But schools and the media don't want our kids to hear anything positive. And that's why my team created The Kids Guide to President Trump. It'll teach your kids all about President Trump's accomplishments and his vision for America." Rupar shared the clip on Twitter along with the caption "it's a cult"—in reference to the Make America Great Again movement and support of Trump. The video has since gone viral on social media, attracting over 350,000 views. Others also accused the pro-Trump educational book of "indoctrinating" children. The latest advert featuring Huckabee arrived as a number of Republican-controlled states have been passing laws or banning books in order to restrict teachers discussing race, gender or sexual orientation in schools. "The left is indoctrinating your kids again," Slade Sohmer, editor in chief at video news company The Recount, tweeted sarcastically while sharing the footage of Huckabee's advert. Brian Tashman, political researcher and strategist at the American Civil Liberties Union, tweeted: "The left is putting politics in children's books! leave them alone!!! Also, please order Mike Huckabee's latest children's book, 'the kids guide to President Trump.'" George Conway, a lawyer and vocal Trump critic who is married to former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, added: "SNL [Saturday Night Live] should use this straight up unedited as a cold open." Christopher Furlong/Getty Images According to PEN America, a nonprofit that advocates for freedom of expression, there had been 1,586 incidents of books being banned in schools across 26 states in the nine-month period up to April. Of these banned books, a total of 644 were removed from schools under direction from state officials or elected lawmakers, according to PEN America. Many of these banned titles addressed issues of race and racism or explicitly discussed LGBTQ+ themes. In Florida, there is also continuing outcry over HB 1557, the legislation backed by Governor Ron DeSantis which critics have dubbed the "Don't Say Gay" bill. It bans the discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in Florida schools from kindergarten through to 3rd grade. Huckabee and EverBright Media have been contacted for comment. |
