Future has sold his catalog from the years 2004 to 2020 to Influence Media Partners. While the exact price of the catalog wasn’t disclosed, a source close to the deal told Variety that the rapper fetched a price in the “high eight figures.” Show Beginning with the launch of his career, the sixteen-year period saw Future release 612 singles across eight studio albums, in addition to collaborations, a reissued LP, mixtapes and songs not listed on any full-length project. Among the mix of tracks in the catalog is Future’s highest-charting solo single, “Mas Off” and his GRAMMY Award-winning “King’s Dead” with Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock and James Blake. The catalog also includes one of his iconic tracks with Drake, “Life Is Good” and his Rihanna collaboration, “Selfish.” “I put everything into my music, and I wanted to make sure these were in good hands as I thought about the next chapter of these songs,” Future said. “I’m proud to partner up with Rene and the team at Influence Media and send a signal that this music has timeless value. My music is my art, and these songs represent some of the most precious artwork of my career.” Influence Media Co-Managing Partner, Lynn Hazan, shared that she had worked with Future during her tenure at Epic Records. “We consider Future an artist of the ages. He resonates across a spectrum of demographics,” Hazan said. “We’re so excited about this partnership, it’s a fitting addition to our growing repertoire of top-tier talent and promotes our forward-thinking mission.” “Now at Influence, it feels like fate to be able to collaborate with him again alongside my dynamic partners to protect his legacy and works,” she added. In other music news, Kanye West has claimed his song catalog is being shopped around without his knowledge. LyricsAlbum list DJ EscoBenjamins Burn (Feat. "We don’t do any of Future music like that, no official start date, we just go to the studio and have fun," Southside said. "After we have made six or 700 songs we will pick the album. Literally. People think we have this process and we don’t do all of that." Literally 600 to 700 songs? Are these all finished songs? How long does it take to narrow this massive selection down to 13 or 14 tracks? How many hard drives does Future own? Is he human? So many great follow-up questions, none of which were asked during the Complex interview. By AudiomackNov 5, 2022 In an interview with HighSnobiety earlier this month, Future proclaimed the key to longevity in hip-hop is "being yourself and not trying to be 10 other people." Clearly, he forgot about his other key, which is to record enough material for an entire career for one project. Gucci Mane, who like Future has been known to records hundreds of songs per session, recently revealed that his work ethic in the studio is driven by his fear of being forgotten or labeled as a failure. Later in the interview, Southside referred to SUPER SLIMEY as "just like a teaser," saying, "Honestly, these aren't even the hardest 13 songs," and revealed more music from Future and Thug was on the way: "It might be What a Slime to Be Alive up next. You never know, we are with the element of surprise. We just keep working and whatever comes out next comes out next."
