Sleep: There aren’t amazing hotel options in the Page, Arizona area in my opinion unless you’re going super luxe and want to stay at the Amangiri (which is absolutely stunning, but in that case I wouldn’t leave the hotel!). If you want to stick around for the night, your best bet is to check Booking.com and just go for something basic and cheap. If you’re camping, the Lone Rock campground is a good option, but you have to be driving a car that can handle soft sand terrain (trust me, we learned this the hard way) to be able to access the parts of the beach close to the water’s edge.

Combine them with a short detour to Page, Arizona, and you’ve got the most perfect (and varied!) week-long road trip. Here’s the exact road trip we took through the 5 Utah National Parks, commonly referred to as the Utah Mighty 5, or Big 5 Utah. We were able to make the drive in 7 days, flying back to San Francisco early morning on the 8th day. I am a massive planner when it comes to these things, so I hope all my excessive planning helps make your road trip plans a bit easier!

Drive to Page, AZ. See either Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, or both. Continue driving onto Zion National Park (or if you’re like us, take a slight detour to call the insurance company of the man who backed into your car in a gas station parking lot, then continue onto Zion).

A bold desert beauty, this 230-sq-mile park is a highlight of southern Utah. Hikes range from trails traipsing the ridge lines to river wading under steep canyon walls. Many come for a canyoneering experience but there are also family friendly hikes and scenic drives. If possible, enter Zion from the east, following Hwy 9 west from Hwy 89. The route is jaw-droppingly scenic as it rolls through colorful red rocks and a gallery-dotted tunnel before switchbacking 3.5 miles into the canyon.

St. George, Utah which is the closest city in proximity to Zion National Park also has a small airport, but flight options may be more limited depending on where you’re coming in from. If you fly into Vegas, drive the two hours over the state line to St. George, Utah just note that there is a time change between Nevada and Utah!. If you have time, don’t miss a quick pit stop in Valley of Fire State Park which is a beautiful detour if you fly in early enough in the day.

It is difficult to describe the natural beauty of Zion National Park in words or pictures. There are so many scenic points all over the park. Some of my favourites were Lower Emerald and Higher Emerald pool. There is almost a couple of hours of hike from the base camp. It is a big park to cover in one day but you can take the bus from the base camp to quickly visit most important scenic points around the park. I visited the park in June, it was around 80F. There was lots of water in the river passing through the park. You should enjoy the beautiful sounds of the running water :) I planned my trip by staying the night in St. George, UT which is one hour drive from the park. I left the hotel at 7:00 AM and reached the park around 8:00 AM via UT-9. It is good not to drive in the evening or night because you can cover scenic UT-9 in the morning. My next destination was Grand Canyon National Park, so I left the park around 3:00 PM so that I could reach Flagstaff, AZ before the night. Doing this, I covered UT-9 all during the day time. UT-9 is a very beautiful scenic drive which you should not miss. Do have the following with you, - Sun block - Sun glasses - Stick for hiking - Lots of water

We visited in 1st week of may,It was busy but beauty amazed us. Had to say this park is magnificent in all the terms. Mountains look spectacular during sun set time. -We did Narrows,it wasn’t too deep but, at few places water is higher than your waist. It was bit cloudy that day. -We did the Angels landing, after about 2-2.5miles the trail is only accessible by the chain which is very narrow and slippery and also you need special permission to access that. -Emerald pools trail (upper, lower, middle) are the great start for the day. They are quick simple and amazing. -Lastly Watchman Campground,we did camping under millions of stars and Surrounded by beautiful mountains. Cold breeze and camp fire such an amazing experience. It is so hard to capture all the beauty.

We came late January, it was not too busy and absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed stunning drives with our little ones and a couple easier hikes. The drive repeats Bryce Canyon through the tunnel was incredible and definitely something that should be on everyone's list. Absolutely gorgeous park and such a wonderful time to visit for full access.

Zip over to Bryce Canyon NP (here’s a great post about visiting Bryce Canyon from a fellow blogger) if you like, or, for a stress-free departure, leave early and head back to SLC. It’s approximately four hours up I-15. If you have kids, you’ll have time to let them enjoy a couple hours playing in one of the child-friendly museums in the SLC area (see below). If you’re traveling sans small wallet-draining noise makers, consider a visit to the Natural History Museum on the U of U campus or the Modern Art Museum downtown.

Begin your exploration of Zion National Park by driving the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, which begins outside of the park at the intersection of Highway 9 and Interstate 15. You’re in luck because this drive through Zion is only open to private vehicles during the winter months. Plan to spend a few hours on this excursion while you enjoy the scenery and make stops along the 54-mile drive.

Day 2: Bryce Canyon National Park Wake up near Bryce Canyon and get ready for a full day of outdoorsy exploration!. Most people say you only need about half a day for Bryce, but I disagree with them!. Bryce Canyon happened to be our favorite National Park on our week-long road trip throughout Utah, so I’m thankful we kept a full day open for it!

Bryce Canyon National Park, The Lodge at Bryce Canyon, Bryce Canyon City, Utah 84764. If you want to stay within the park to maximize your time enjoying it, this is your only hotel option!. The Lodge at Bryce Canyon is all about location, just a short walk away from the trail around the canyon rim and the famous sunrise point.

Day 3: Bryce Canyon National Park Start your morning with a drive along route 9 cutting through the park for a little shortcut on your way to Bryce Canyon, where you won’t want to miss the park’s sprawling landscape of warm-toned hoodoos, which are basically jagged, spiral-like rock formations.

Bryce Canyon Pines is a charming and contemporary two-star hotel. Located in Bryce Canyon, this hotel is close to the park as well as many of the region’s top landmarks and attractions. This hotel boasts a range of amenities, including laundry facilities, and spacious and comfortable rooms.

Carmel Tunnel and continue driving towards Bryce Canyon National Park which is 1.5 hours away. If you are able to drive to Bryce by sunset we recommend heading straight to Sunset Point.

Spend the morning doing another hike in Zion, then drive over to Bryce Canyon in the afternoon. Enjoy a half-day at Bryce Canyon, sleep nearby.

My experience with this place was very positive. Such breathtaking views from mile 1 to all the way to the top of Rainbow Point. It isn't that long of a drive but there are spots to hike, camp, and go horseback riding. Overall, this park is beautiful!

Great park! If you only have time for one quick stop you must go to Bryce's point! I recommend you drive the entire road and stop at all the view points. They are all SO different! The Queens garden hike was very cool and not too long.

Absolutely gorgeous canyon with its colorful hoodoos. The Peek-a-boo Trail is amazing as well as the Navajo Trail. Great views are found at Bryce Point and Sunset Point. Rainbow Point also offers vast views. The Natural Bridge is beautiful with the canyon.

If you get to SLC and have a few hours to burn I highly recommend you check out Park City (famous for incredible winter skiing and hosting the Sundance Film Festival) or if you really want to indulge (won’t lie, we did) then check out the Kura Door Spa…their prices are reasonable and all services include access to relaxation rooms, sauna, steam room and yummy treats & tea. For food and drinks near downtown, check out Whiskey Street (21+), Red Iguana (killer classic margs and amazing mole), or Spitz (delicious donor kabobs).

Go to Park City. Walk along Main Street. Get a burger and a craft beer at the Wasatch Brewery. Check out a real Banksy.

My brother and I stopped by here for some authentic Navajo cuisine on our way to Flagstaff. I had the Navajo taco and he had the beef stew on fry bread. We were not disappointed - the fry bread had a slightly crispy outer layer and chewy interior that went very incredibly well with the toppings on our respective dishes. We also stopped by the gift shop and got Navajo sand paintings. I was impressed by the variety and the relative affordability of what they had on offer.

Cool historic trading post. This building and the motel are quite nice. We always stop here on our way through. Very nice restrooms, plenty of parking, good location. Want more stars? Please bring the RV park up to the same standards. It wouldn't take much, some hookups don't work, sites aren't level, the whole thing looks neglected. Price and location can't be beat, just shabby🤔

What a great find! We stopped for breakfast and then spent 2.0 minutes perusing the many souvenirs and collectibles in the shop. Hubby had bacon and eggs- generous portions and I had the Navajo which was a blue corn pancake, egg and bacon. The waitress was fast, food came quickly and it was delicious. You can see from the photo my pancake was huge- you can’t see how good and light it was so just trust me. Great stop after the canyon for us!

There were some Navajos selling jewelry, so be aware that if they are giving you a tour, they will either want you to buy their jewelry or at least provide a tip at the end. If you do not want to, then politely let them know, "No. Thank you." I have to say it was very nice to talk with the gentleman who was showing us the dinosaur tracks. Yes, we did give him some money, but it was a pleasure talking to him and having him show us around.

This Place was AMAZING! We happen to run across the sign on the road on our way home from Utah to Texas and debated to turn around and im glad we did. 100% this is a must place to stop. Weather you have kids or not this is a place you will never experience anywhere else! There are 100s or tracks and fossils. Its amazing this place isn't more known. And if you stop take time to look at the hand made native jewelry. BEAUTIFUL WORK! This stop is definitely on our agenda for our next family vacation.

Worth the voluntary tipping(no entrance fee), the tour takes about 10-15 minutes. It's just a quick stop on the way, and you can see some amazing prints and even partly skeltons (a few need some imagination).

The view of the canyon is beautiful from here. You're almost guaranteed to see a few California Condors hanging out, including number (3)54. These birds are huge and often spread their wings in a spectacular display.

This was so beautiful, worth the stop. Also they have some restrooms that are a welcoming stop. We stopped and ate lunch and took in the views. Absolutely beautiful.

We came looking for California Condor and were not disappointed. We were there near sunset in September and saw numbers 19 and 54 flying around and later sitting on the rocks. We had some great views through our binoculars. The two bridges are amazing engineering feats and it is great to walk across with fantastic views of the Colorado River.

Antelope Canyon is a natural wonder between Monument Valley and Bryce and Zion National Parks. Why not plan extra time in the area to take a guided tour?

I was very fortunate to visit Antelope Canyon on April 19th,2022. You can’t judge it by it’s photo. You do need to see it in person and feel it’s own beauty. Face mask still mandatory there, that’s the federal and tribal law. Best to book tickets online. Best way to visit with plan ahead.

AMAZING! At the time we went, they made us wear masks even in pictures. The tour ppl were nice. We did have enough time to take pictures. We went to Canyon X of the canyon and first went into one area and then walked to a different part of Canyon X.

Great place to visit. You should check and book your ticket in advance. I do not recommend any walk-in. Also, make sure that they are open the day you gonna go before you start driving. It can be 8+ hours of round trip from Vegas only to know that they are closed for various reason like flooding, etc. No kids under 8, plan accordingly. No bags of any kind is allowed, carry a water bottle though. There is a half a mile of hike on the return, get ready for some work out! How good the tour is, depends solely on your guide. So good luck on that! Fortunately, we had a fantastic guide who explained each and every intricate details. As of this review, he go by Blue Sky and works with Adventurous Antelope Canyon Tours. Amazing iconic scenic view. 1/2 mile walk from large parking lot. Pit toilets. Entrance fee goes to the city of Page.

This place is so awesome, the pictures do not do it justice! The views are so amazing. There are tons of places to walk around for pictures. There is a 20 minute walk down to the cliff. It is very maintained and easy to walk on. There are a ton of people going back and forth. Some of the people there are dare devils, sitting on cliffs dangling their feet over and standing on the edge make it pretty uncomfortable to watch. Be prepared for that, we were not. There are no employees at the site, so anything goes. They do charge $10 a car to get in. It is worth the $10 and the short walk to it! If we ever go back to Page, we will definitely go see this wonder again!

Wow.. What a natural wonder. Rich Colors of the rock , sky and river enhances the view and gives the viewers an out of the world experience! A mile of easy walk from the parking takes you to the most beautiful view of the world. Horseshoe bend is definitely a must visit place in Arizona to understand the unique meander of earth. Colorado river which fees water to six states had to work hard to get through the rocks and create sigh an adorable beauty for us to enjoy and cherish.

Coyote Buttes/The Wave which is a unique spectacular landscape that can be best described as “otherworldly”. Imagine a trip to Mars without leaving earth!

Words can't describe this beautiful place! Not my words, but someone said Nature's own Van Gogh Museum. Intricate formations, 200 million years in the making. Absolutely stunning, otherworldly atmosphere. So serene that we were able to hear bird's wing flapping in the distance. So much to explore. I wish everyone winning a permit to visit.

Amazing place but the road there is a challenge - ruts were a foot deep and sand even deeper - if it’s wet this would be easier as sand gets hard when wet. High clearance 4x4 is necessary lots of ranchers driving 3/4 ton trucks hauling cows and horses down these roads so they are passable with the right equipment and know how. And that ain’t a 2 wheel drive car...saw several of those and that is crazy. Do you know how much they charge to tow you out of here$$$$$$

Sandy park with camping & 1,200 acres of shifting dunes open to off-highway vehicles & dune buggies.

Slide 1 of 3

So I’ve been to Great Sand Dunes National Park. Therefore I wasn’t expecting much from this place. Boy was I wrong. The dunes themselves are such a unique color. And if you go close to sunset, they seem to change color, which is spectacular. The sand sledding here was great. Perhaps just as good if not better than Great Sand Dunes due to the shorter and easier walk. Regardless, if you are in the area, make sure you stop.

We had a great time at the dunes, can't wait to head back. My wife and I are from Hawaii. So this was the first time seeing sand dunes like these. I didn't know you could board down the dunes, but I did have my RC Crawler with me, and decided to take it out and have some fun. Got a few compliments. One lady even told me it made her day, well I'm glad to have been entertaining!

Great place for dune buggy rides and sliding on the dunes. This is a place to bring the kids and be active. However, if you just want to ride in the car and look you will be disappointed. The dunes are beautiful as is their surrounding. Be aware that if you're not in great shape you will have a hard time walking on the hilly dunes. There are bleachers where you can see the dunes without actually walking on them.

Moqui Cave

Natural history museum

Sights & Landmarks

This sandstone erosion cave once served as a speakeasy & now houses a rock collection & gift shop.

Slide 1 of 3

The Moqui Cave is a great place to stop just off of Highway 89. We stopped here while driving from Zion to Arizona. The cave was purchased by Garth and Laura Chamberlain in the early 50's was was turned into a local dance hall and bar. Today it operates a museum that is full of interesting artifacts about the region and the past. There is a tour however, it is short. It was still very interesting to learn about Kanab, the Chamberlain family. There is a lot of artifacts to look at that relate to local history, knowledge about what happened in the caves and what Garth Chamberlain collected throughout his life and career from all over Utah as well as further afield. The staff are lovely and full of knowledge and it's all still operated by the Chamberlain family! You can see dinosaur fossils, fluorescent rocks, a hand made bar built by the owner and a gift shop full to the brim of souvenirs! Highly recommend stopping by and checking this place out!

Amazing little stop during our drive down to Page. This museum/ gift shop has a great history behind it. Definitely recommend you to stop by and check it out. We got a few good souvenirs and a little history lesson on who came here and what happened in this spot.

AMAZING!!!!! and free! Awesome hike up the side of the mtn to the cave. The cave is stunning and spectacular. To think about it's history leaves me astounded and humbled to be standing in it. Must do if in the area. Just remember - there's no shame in crab walking down the mountain! :)

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary

Nature & Parks

Animal rescue service

No-kill shelter for rescued domestic pets & farm animals, with adoptions & volunteer opportunities.

Slide 1 of 4

Kanab's most famous attraction is outside of town. Surrounded by more than 33,000 mostly private acres of red-rock desert 5.5 miles north of Kanab, Best Friends is the largest no-kill animal rescue center in the country. The center shows films and gives facility tours four times a day; call ahead for times and reservations. The 1½-hour tours let you meet some of the more than 1700 horses, pigs, dogs, cats, birds and other critters on-site.

This place will fill your heart and make you want to empty your pockets 😂 The work they're doing with animals and doing for animals is a dream. No kill USA by 2025 🤩 The sanctuary is full of peace and hope and beauty. The tours are super interesting and picking up a volunteer shift is even better! We visited once for a day and within a year were back for a week of joy and service. The kinds of people who love animals like this also treat humans with welcome & affection. This place is magic.

Best friends animal sanctuary is my heaven. My family and I visited this incredible sanctuary over Christmas break. First off it is absolutely gorgeous. They have cabins, cottages, or RV spots that you can rent on the campus. There is also their roadhouse that is just a few miles away. We stayed at the roadhouse this time but have booked our next visit at the cottages. We were able to do free tours and visit with many incredible babies. Our next visit we are doing volunteer work and arranged for a sleepover for a sanctuary pet which I’m so excited about. There is so much to explore and so many animals to meet. They have pigs, goats, horses, bunnies, kitties, a variety of birds. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The work they do there and for all animals is inspiring and beautiful. Upon my return home I have started volunteering in my community. I can’t wait to go back and plan to make this at minimum a yearly visit. Thank you Best Friends for your beautiful hearts and beautiful work.

Amazing place to visit, take the free guided tour.. adopt a dog, cat, bird, rabbit! So many different kinds of animals. Such wonderful caring volunteers! Great people! You can take the dogs for a walk or if you are staying at one of their hotels you can take a dog for a sleepover!! Please go visit it will not disappoint

Toadstool Hoodoos

Hiking area

Nature & Parks

Group of desert rock formations, shaped by wind erosion to resemble mushrooms or toadstools.

Slide 1 of 3

Magic on Earth! I love this kind of stuff. Finding things that exist vertically nowhere else, and to have them easily to the side of the road. The hike from the trail head is only a few minutes, and maybe 100 feet in elevation change. Most anyone can make it if you simply take your time.

An easy hike to an cool area with a lot of toadstool like rocks. While not the most exciting hike in the area, it’s definitely worth the stop if you have the time. Too about an hour round trip.

Pretty neat place to explore. Less busy than some of the other near by attractions with a little more freedom to explore. The path out to the big toad is pretty easy to manage and then it opens up more. Highly recommend for all ages.

Accessibility: truly a wheelchair accessible trail, paved and all flat ground. This is the ONLY wheelchair accessible trail in the entire park during winter as the other ones (Emerald pools trail) had ice all over the ground. This trail was not ice like the others. Experience: absolutely breathtakingly beautiful views. Definitely recommend this one to people of all ages and abilities.

This is a beautiful Trail at Zion National Park. Our time slot for the shuttle to go to Angel's Landing was at 11.30 am, we reached the park parking area by 9 am and we had enough time to explore PA'RUS TRAIL.

Angels Landing

Mountain peak

Nature & Parks

Hiking Trails

Rock formation in Zion National Park with a steep, very narrow trail for advanced hikers.

Slide 1 of 22

You’ll climb a series of steep switchbacks that take you through the cool and sheltered Refrigerator Canyon, Walter’s Wiggles and Scout’s Lookout – you can turn back here if you don’t fancy the next (and most testing) section of the hike. Now the bit you’ve been waiting for: the half-mile walk across the narrow cliff spine. There are chains bolted down to support you, but the adrenaline rush is bound to get your heart pumping a few beats faster.

Angel’s Landing provides one of the most stunning views in the park (which is saying a lot since there are amazing views everywhere), but it is not easy to get to. The trail starts at the Grotto Trailhead (the sixth shuttle stop in Zion Canyon) and is about 2.5 miles one way and will take the better part of a day to do round trip. It’s quite steep and strenuous with sharp drops at many places.

Some of the hikes take a good portion of the day (Angels Landing/Narrows), and while you’ll see a lot of amazing scenery, you won’t leave much time to explore other parts of the park. Decide in advance if you’ll be tackling a tough hike!. It was also one of the most crowded parks during our visit to Utah, (and we visited in the shoulder season of late March), so keep that in mind as well!

Angels Landing is the most dangerous but electrifying hike in Zion National Park. Our fitness watch trackers showed an insanely elevated BPM both on the way up and down the first time we hiked it, with brief respite at the flatter summit. This unique and famous climb welcomes Disneyland level crowds daily, and as a result has forced the NPS into piloting a long overdue permit system.

Disclaimer: If you’re not a fan of heights, just skip this one, trust me!. It takes about a four hour round trip to hike to the top of Angel’s Landing, including one area where you need to use chains to hold onto as you hike across a very narrow ridge, but the views are worth it!. Once you find yourself on top, you’ll have an absolutely stunning view down into Zion Canyon.

Distance: 4.1 Miles, 1617 ft elevation gainTime: 2-4 HoursDifficulty: StrenuousTraffic: Very Crowded. One of the iconic hikes in Zion National Park, Angels Landing is not for the faint of heart (or anyone with a fear of heights). There are even portions of the trail that offer chains to help steady yourself as you navigate the part with drop offs on both sides.

Climbing Angel’s Landing (5 miles round trip) is a bucket list item for most Zion visitors but it is not for the faint of heart. It’s a strenuous trail that offers spectacular 360 views of the entire canyon from high above. Don’t forget to pack plenty of water and your headlamp. For more information on this hike view our Zion Travel Guide.

Zion National Park has a couple of famous hikes like Angels Landing and the Narrows. Angels Landing is a strenuous and steep hike to reach the lookout over Zion Canyon. The Narrows treks through the Virgin River and is open only when the water levels and current are safe. Unfortunately, it was closed when I went.

What Makes It Epic: Arguably the most famous hike in Zion National Park. Sheer drops of up to 1,000 feet on either side of a narrow sandstone trail make it a must for adrenaline junkies. Length: 4.8 miles round trip from the trailhead to the top of Angel’s Landing, 1,500 feet above the canyon floor

For first-hand expertise, I would check out my friend Allison’s Angels Landing guide. Arguably, this is the most famous trail in Zion National Park. It requires ascending multiple switchbacks, hiking with minimal shade, and scaling the spine of a fin using metal ladders in the rock.

One of the most popular hikes in the park, Angel’s Landing, is not for those with unsure footing or a fear of heights. With 8 deaths in the last 15 years, this trail can be dangerous. Hikers navigate sheer drop-offs up to 1,200 feet holding on to a chain bolted into the rock.

This 1,488-foot tall rock formation has been known as the Temple of Aeolus. It is popular for its unique shape. Reaching the top of this spot will have a special meaning for you, the feeling of proud comes naturally as it allows you to witness the beauty of the park.

Rising 1,500-feet above the floor of Zion Canyon, Angels Landing offers stunning, 360-degree views in the heart of the park. The only challenge is getting there. From The Grotto Shuttle Stop (#6), the Angels Landing Trail heads 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) to the summit.

Hiking TrailsZion National Park, Springdale, UT 84767MoreLess Info. An impressive rock formation once known as the Temple of Aeolus, Angel's Landing stands almost 1500 feet tall. Hiking trails run around the formation, leading to a variety of impressive vistas.

5 miles round-trip from The Grotto trailhead, 1630 feet of elevation gain. Be warned that there are some sections of exposure and people have died hiking this trail. Angel’s Landing is in the main canyon and requires a shuttle to access from spring-fall.

Spend your first full day exploring all that Zion National Park has to offer, including must-do hikes like The Narrows, Angel’s Landing, Emerald Pools and the beautiful drive through the park along route Route 9. Total Driving Time: 1 – 1 1/2 hours

Angel’s Landing was named by Ethelbert Bingham in 1916 when he exclaimed to his friends, “only an angel could land on that!. ” Nearby, The Organ juts out toward Angel’s Landing. Some think the wind passing through the pass sounds like a pipe organ.

One of the most famous hikes in Zion is called Angels Landing. Although the view from this hike is breath taking, this hike is not for everyone. This hike is 5.4 miles with and elevation change of 1488 ft which means long drop offs.

Embark on this trail to travel back in time to the Triassic period, with a vista of the colored rocks of the Zion Canyon.

Here's why this is the ideal hike. Much of this hike is paved with many switchbacks and beautiful views the entire way. The view at the top, before the chains is spectacular. So if you don't win a lotto spot for the chains, this portion is definitely worth the hike. The chains portion was was fun and the additional views are certainly worth it, but honestly, the chains portion is more about the adventure than the views.

Such a beautiful hike. It is strenuous but with the views. Much of the path is paved so easy to walk on. Must register ahead of time if you want to be able to hike to the top portion of Angels landing where the trails are more narrow and they have chain to help you pull yourself up.

Just did this trail right before the lottery went into effect. It was amazing!!! A bit scary for January as there was ice and snow on the trail. Some yak tracks helped in those places. This is worth the hike. My 11 yr old son and made it to scouts landing in about 45min of steady walking then it took another hour to make it up to the peak. In Jan there was not as many people as I've been told are there in the summer. Take your time and be respectful of those going up and down. There are plenty of passing locations that are wide enough to wait for a group to move through. The wiggles are pretty icy right now (in Jan) so stick to the edges and walls.

The Narrows

Mountain pass

Nature & Parks

This scenic, narrow section of Zion Canyon is popular with hikers & leads to the Temple of Sinawava.

Slide 1 of 20

A hike doesn’t quite cut it – this is an adventure that will have you wading through ankle-deep (sometimes waist-deep) river passages, jumping in sandstone swimming pools and doing the odd bit of rock scrambling. This is Zion’s most popular slot canyon hike. You can either start at the Riverside Walk at the Temple of Sinawava and go from the bottom up, or from the Chamberlain Ranch and go from the top down if you want the full canyoneering experience.

The Narrows is the most iconic hike in Zion National Park, and the remarkable river slot canyon is so much fun. Walking through water in a narrow passage flanked by two enormous walls is such a unique experience and should not be missed on your visit to Zion. It is important to understand the distinction between a bottom up day hike and a permit only top down hike.

The Narrows are one of the most incredible places within Zion to go and shoot, and they don’t require a backcountry permit. For this location, you’ll be hiking through – yes, through – the Virgin River, so be prepared to get wet!. I typically bring a small camera pack with me with my wide angle, circular polarizer, tripod, cable release, and lens cloths.

Spend your second day in the park exploring The Narrows. They are continually changing and are one of the top highlights of Zion National Park, especially if you visit in the warmer months. This is a great hike to keep you cool as much of the hike you’ll be wading through a river. Check out our Narrows hiking guide for more information.

Distance: 16 miles (but can be broken down into shorter segments). Terrain: Perhaps the most iconic hike not only in Zion National Park, but in Utah, this trek follows the course of the Virgin River as it wends its way through the length of Zion Canyon. This is a wading hike, which means you will get wet.

What Makes It Epic: The slot canyon of The Narrows where the Virgin River carves its way through the landscape is arguably one of the best hikes in Zion National Park as it’s the most visited hike in the park. It’s world-famous with unmatched scenery anywhere on the planet. Length: 9 miles round trip

Why you should go: see a stunning portion of The Narrows that day hikers can’t enjoy. Most visitors to Zion National Park see only the southern portion of The Narrows. The popular day-hike starting at the northern tip of Zion Canyon is one of the most popular day hikes within the park boundaries.

Hiking the Narrows is one of the most popular things to do at Zion. The Narrows is a narrow area where the Virgin River flows through the slot canyon. To get to the Narrows you will take the shuttle to the ninth and final stop, the Temple of Sinawava, and take Riverside Walk until it ends.

You’ll wade through the knee-deep Virgin River and observe the canyon it’s carved. While the official hike is 9.4 miles, many hikers just wade as far as they want upstream before turning back. Make this journey in summer or early fall when water flow is lower and temperatures are warmer.

Distance: 3-8 MilesTime: 2-6 HoursDifficulty: ModerateTraffic: Very CrowdedBest Time to Go: April until Oct. This hike is perfect for a hot summer day. You can go as far up the river as you want before you turn around, but try to make it up to the most iconic portion called Wall Street.

Spend your first full day exploring all that Zion National Park has to offer, including must-do hikes like The Narrows, Angel’s Landing, Emerald Pools and the beautiful drive through the park along route Route 9. Total Driving Time: 1 – 1 1/2 hours

Hiking The Narrows was one of my favorite things we did when visiting Zion National Park. We conquered this trail in the winter, and it was incredible. I had such a great time, I wrote a full post on hiking The Narrows in winter.

NOTE: Please click here and read about potential hazards before doing this trail. The Narrows is situated at the end of the main canyon and requires a shuttle to access from spring-fall.

Commune with nature and explore the great outdoors at The Narrows during your travels in Springdale. Discover the area's mountain views, or seek out its hiking trails.

This sinuous 16-mile crack in the earth where the Virgin River flows over gravel and boulders is one of the world's most stunning gorges.

9 mile out and back hike up the virgin River. Unforgettable waterfalls and rock formations. Seeing sunlight filter through snow melt from the rocks is a unique experience. If you pay close attention you can see a number of small springs bubbling up into the river, and openings to larger cavities in the rock. Definitely recommend getting waterproof bibs and shoes for rent in the March-April season. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

If you're looking for a phenomenal hike!! Start with this hike. Early morning, it could take from one hour to 4 or 5 hours. It all depends on the distance you want to travel. Be careful with the rocks. You definitely need two sticks, if possible. It helps you balance yourself. As you're walking through the Rocky River. The views are amazing breathtaking!! 👏 Something you have to see for yourself with your own eyes I highly recommend it.

This is one of the most epic hikes - but there are many things to consider so that your hike is enjoyable and safe. Information below will be for a bottom up hike (out and back) that does not require a permit. Gear: The Narrows can be hiked year round. In colder months, you want to be sure to get the appropriate gear so that your core body temperature does not drop. We rented waders, water shoes, neoprene socks, and a walking stick from Zion Outfitters. This kept us warm when hiking in March. The stick was such a valuable part of the gear because it is challenging to find solid footing at times when walking through the river. The stick helps you to maintain balance. *You can pick up your gear after 4 on the day before your hike so you can start early the next morning. Water: You will need to pack in your own water. The water in the Virgin River is not potable due to cyanobacteria. Parking: From mid-March to October, the park runs a shuttle bus from the visitor center to the Temple of Sinawava (the stop for The Narrows). If the shuttle is not running, you will have to drive to the parking lot at the Temple of Sinawava. Due to limited parking - get there very early (before sunrise) to get parking. You can rest in your car once you have a spot. If you arrive late, you. will have to park up the road at other roadside spots, and. this will add additional miles to your hike. Distances: From the Temple of Sinawava, you begin walking on the Riverside Walk Trail. This is an easy, paved path for approximately 1.5 miles. At the end of this path, stairs lead down to the river. At this point, you will begin walking in the river. The water can get waist deep (or higher). Check with the park rangers before doing The Narrows because flash flooding can be dangerous. You can walk as far as you want and then turn around to return to the Temple of Sinawava. If you want to see Wall Street (where the canyon becomes narrrow), you will need to walk approximately 2 miles once you enter the water at the end of The Riverside Walk Trail.

Bryce National Park and Zion National Park are less the 2 hours from each other. You could easily stay the 2nd night at your less expensive Bryce hotel and wake up early on Day 6 to make the drive to Zion National Park.

One of the places you must see before you die! Not sure if I'd attempt to bring children, the trail is narrow to the end point and even some if the adults doesn't attempt it. Very beautiful views. We found it making our trip and decided to stop on - worth the detour to see.

This “smaller” National Park is a gem that is often overlooked. Probably one of the most scenic and beautiful parks that I have ever seen with a deep canyon, plenty of hiking trails, and expansive overlooks that are easy to reach from the roadside, or after a short hike. We arrived at the park on a clear day with plenty of sunshine and the views were absolutely amazing! You could literally see for 40 miles or so, and the mountain ranges all around were visible. Definitely stop to see this park on a clear day when you are visiting the other more popular parks in Utah!

Cedar Breaks National Monument. It’s beautiful. The drive is amazing. Views are spectacular and easily accessible. Only a very short walk to the vistas. It was very windy at that elevation. We were standing at over 10,000 feet, it was cool and windy. Be sure to take the time to see this sight - you won’t regret it - BEAUTIFUL! Great views and hiking trails. Doesn't get many visitors even in peak season. Well worth a visit. A small version of Bryce Canyon.

Lower Inspiration Point

Vista point

Sights & Landmarks

Lookouts

Scenic vista point atop steep cliffs offering unobstructed views of Bryce's main amphitheater.

Slide 1 of 7

Inspiration Point consists of three viewing levels that provide slightly different perspectives of the canyon. As you hike along the rim trail between these levels, you will be right on the edge of a steep cliff with crumbling rock. Be careful to keep your distance from the edge.

A three-level viewing area of the spectacular hoodoos is offered here, but remember there is no trail access at this point. Do not wander off the designated pathways and remain behind the railings. The sheer drops are extremely slippery and very dangerous.

From the viewing platform, you’ll get an almost aerial view of the canyon below you. From this vantage point, you’ll get a clear view of the Silent City, which is where the highest concentration of hoodoos are located.

Visit the viewpoints (my favorites were Bryce Point, Inspiration Point, Agua Canyon, and Rainbow Point, but they’re all worth seeing in my opinion – we saw them all). Hike the Queens Garden/Navajo Loop Trail (3 miles)

Pictures cannot justify the amazing views mother nature has to offer. Bryce canyon should be on everyone's bucket list. Breathe taking, peaceful and beautiful.

I walked to both inspiration points and all I can say is I’m not sure what exactly was more inspirational about the upper over the lower. It’s a short walk up a hill. The views are amazing. I’m inspired to question the person who kept walking up. Lol. Nice cardio (my heart was slamming a raging beat).

This spot is mislabeled on Google Maps, as the actual Bryce Point is further south, near Paria View. This spot is actually Inspiration Point, and in my opinion, it is way better than Bryce Point. The only viewpoints in the park I experienced similar levels of "wow" were Sunrise and Sunset Points, and these were both more crowded than Inspiration Point. This is an absolute must-see viewpoint in Bryce Canyon

Wall Street

Nature & Parks

Hiking Trails

Slide 1 of 3

Was totally bummed that the Wall Street section of the amphitheater was closed by the time I arrived to the park (first week of November). I would have loved to hike through it, but the best I could do given the closure was take a few photos from the area just before the closure. The Navajo Loop was still open and it was incredible, so not being able to do the Wall Street section as well was at most a minor disappointment. If it's open by the time you arrive here, do it. It looks incredible from above

We did the Queen-Navajo Loop and it was moderate and super long. The trail is downwards, levels then a lot of uphill whichever way you start or return. But it was well worth it. I wanted nothing more to do this trail as I saw it in a lot of popular media and so glad I got to experience this journey. The winding road going down which is the Navajo part is a lot easier than what it looks. 1000x recommend this trail

Excellent views of the hoodoos! We hiked the Navajo Loop to Peekaboo to Wall Street combination, in a figure 8, which totaled 4.9 miles. We completed it in 3-4 hours. The combination took us up and down hoodoos about 4 times. I would characterize this combination hike as strenuous due to the elevation changes, some of which are rather steep. The trail is wide so there is plenty of room to hike. I would not recommend bringing very young children on this trail. Bring plenty of water!

The USF is a high point of my year, every year since 2012. The production quality is beyond amazing. I feel like I come home every time I attend

Dixie National Forest

National forest

Nature & Parks

170-mile wide nature preserve with various plants & animals, as well as hunting, hiking & camping.

Slide 1 of 3

Wide open vistas, beautiful plant life, cooler temperatures make Dixie National Forest very much worth the visit. My family just returned from camping on the front side of Pine Valley Mountain. Absolutely loved the experience. Very beautiful and the views of Washington county are breath taking. The fire restrictions were just lifted and you can have camp fires. The one WARNING! this is a jeep trail. Very rocky and difficult to traverse. Be aware.

The park is to the north of Bryce. Amazing Red cliffs. Lots of places to see and hike. There are two tunnels on the way north from Bryce. Our camper (13.3) had no issuez.

It’s gorgeous. Please keep beautiful by leaving no trace behind. It’s everyone’s responsibility to keep their forest clean and continue to be free if we don’t abuse our privilege to be there. We cleaned up one of the dispersed camping area while there. Even if the wind takes your napkin, go get it!

Dating to 1875, this private Mormon school is known for its picturesque campus & athletics programs.

Slide 1 of 3

This is one of the best Universities in the entire country! Not only do they teach great academics, but is one of the few that hasn't gone completely rediculous woke! The Wasatch mountains just behind it are some of the most beautiful as well. Football games in this stadium are so fun and the backdrop is breathtaking!

The was the Brigham Young University Commencement service, it was amazing! 6871 college graduated today!! My youngest son graduated today too at the Marriott Center!

Walking this campus will always spark great memories from the past, and make new ones. Our family loves visiting whenever we can. I hope the school and campus continue to be an inspiration to its students and alumni.

Bridal Veil Falls

River canyon waterfall close to the highway with a paved trail & picnic area with tables.

Slide 1 of 3

Beautiful falls along U.S. route 189. Passed through at the beginning of February here while on a trip to see the Ice Castles in Midway and this was a very nice side stop during the trip. The snow and frozen sections of some of the falls made it even more breath taking! Well worth the stop!!

This a beautiful place. Nice hike along the River and has a several water falls. This is a nice ares to come with you hall family. It has picnic ares. Just a beautiful place to spend the day.

Anyone can do it. It’s a short walk, about .5 miles on a paved path from the parking lot. However, we tried climbing up to the falls and it was pretty sketchy, so be careful.

Thanksgiving Point

Non-profit organization

Museums

Nonprofit complex housing gardens, an interactive farm, cafes, shops & the Museum of Ancient Life.

Slide 1 of 4

If you’re not in a hurry, however, you might take the (even more) scenic drive over the mountains from Thanksgiving Point, following route 92 down through Sundance, where you pick up 189 and then rejoin I-15 for a stretch before heading east. Once you’re south of Spanish Fork, there isn’t a whole lot of population, just beautiful scenery. Arrive and spend some time exploring Arches. Get dinner in Moab, which is a lovely little tourist destination.

We went to the butterfly exhibit and it was beautiful. Our group was able to get amazing photos with the butterflies. I am a huge plant person and loved the plants they had inside. The playground indoors next to the exhibit was awesome of the kids to burn off their energy. Next time we’re in town I would love to come back.

Always enjoy the Tulip Festival at Ashton Gardens. I am impressed with their ability to maintain such a large property and to make it inviting for all every year. I also learned that most kids really like the two animatronic dinosaurs that have been placed near the entrance and are being allowed to eat the tulips. Of course, I did hear one of two kids start to cry when the sound effects recording started playing. I'm sure I will be back next year.

We had a lot of fun visiting a couple of spots around Thanksgiving point for my son's birthday. We loved the farm animals, the butterflies and the dino fossils. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the amount of unsupervised kids running around: scaring the animals, stepping on butterflies and throwing sand everywhere at the little kids. It's upsetting to see how stressed the animals and workers looked... not sure why parents would allow their kids to treat animals so unkindly.

Loveland Living Planet Aquarium

Aquarium

Non-profit organization

Airy facility with marine-life displays of 2,400+ animals including penguins, seahorses & stingrays.

Slide 1 of 4

Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Draper is very popular and quite impressive for a desert city. Looking for another US itinerary?. Check out the one we wrote for northern Michigan (and no, it doesn’t include Mackinac.)

Wonderful place. A bit on the pricy side but there is so much to do and some unique animals to see. Has a lot of ways kids can interact and an amazing park on the outside before going into the main exhibit. Great place for adults too. Has a tasty cafe! Buy tickets ahead of time so you don't have to wait in line.

Its so super cool here! I really appreciate the animal information panel next to each exhibit, the fish usually have many on 1 panel so its fun to search for each like a little game. Also AMAZING fries, the food was AWESOME, id dare say they have "McDonald" level of sprite. Its a unique taste to get and they nailed it, how funny is that!

Loveland living planet aquarium offers so many features that keep me and my child entertained for hours. One of our favorite parts of seeing the sharks in the large tank and being able to see them swim over our heads as we go through the tunnel. It is always very neat and clean and the staff is friendly! I do feel that a day pass is overpriced, but they do offer a student and military discounts. I also believe that seniors and children get discounts as well.

Deer Valley Resort

Ski resort

Outdoor Activities

Ski resort featuring houses, condos & hotel rooms along with restaurants, shops & many activities.

Slide 1 of 16

Hop on the free city-wide transit bus from the Old Town Transit Center on Swede Alley (parallel to Main Street) and head to Park City Mountain or Deer Valley Resort for a scenic chairlift ride. The resorts burst with beautiful autumn colors this time of year. Enjoy the crisp air as you hike back down to one of the resort centers. Stay at one of the resort centers for lunch, or catch the free bus back to Historic Main Street to enjoy an al fresco meal with a gorgeous view.

There are many beautiful lakes around Park City, but many people don’t know that there is actually a small series of ponds that are incredible for stand-up paddle boarding. Also known as Pebble Beach at Deer Valley- it is the such a great place for SUP because there are no speed boat wakes to mess up your perfect form. You’ll be surrounded by gorgeous views of mountains and can seriously spend so much time here.

This beautiful tree lined 18 hole public golf course is a real gem with 8 driving range stations, plus practice & putting greens. Built in 1963 with only 9 holes, this Park City golf course was originally designed by William Neff and then later expanded in 1976 to 18 holes. Today the course is municipally owned to help keep fees down and ensure access for everyone.

The slopes at this iconic resort are just as epic in the summer as they are in winter—and just as steep. Ski a black diamond in December, then hike it, bike it or horseback ride it in August. Take a dip in the pool or try to stay dry on a paddleboard, then towel off, grab a picnic basket, and watch one of Deer Valley’s summer concerts as the sun smolders low.

Renowned for its upscale amenities and ambience, the delightful Deer Valley is regularly ranked among the best ski resorts in the States. Besides boasting a staggering number of ski slopes, it also has luxurious lodges, restaurants and boutiques to enjoy. Spread across six mountains are over 100 runs which cater to beginners, intermediates and experts alike.

With hot chocolate and cookies available on winter afternoons, you’ll feel at home on this family-friendly hotel property. They have children’s activities, and single room to three-bedroom condos available, too. It’s an inviting place to spend a weekend where you’re close to the ski runs and have everything you need at your fingertips.

Deer Valley is a ski only resort offering 2,000 acres of both summer and winter fun. At scenic Deer Valley Resort, embark on a host of uncommon experiences. Traverse miles of ski and snowboard runs across six mountains; even challenge yourself to some of the same runs Olympians competed on during the 2002 Winter Games.

Get your group on the city bus early to Deer Valley’s Snow Park Restaurant (2250 Deer Valley Dr S, 435.645.6520), where the breakfast options range from oatmeal and made-to-order eggs to the must-have cinnamon challah French toast served with banana butter and Vermont maple syrup. Kids lessons or all together, now

Among the most popular ski resorts in the Park City area, Deer Valley is located 36 miles from Salt Lake City. It was the site of several events in the 2002 Winter Olympics, including freestyle moguls, aerial, snowboarding, and alpine slalom. Opened in 1981, it is renowned for its luxurious amenities.

Offering events all year round Deer Valley Resort hosts concerts with Grammy-nominated artists as well as the Utah Symphony. Additionally, various athletic and cultural events are held like the Twilight Ride Series and guided historical tours.

The second of Park City’s two major ski resorts, Deer Valley Resort offers miles and miles of fresh white slopes. Activities include skiing, snowmobiling, and more. Winter isn’t the only time that you can enjoy the great outdoors, either.

Head to the slopes because your feed’s about to get really cool. Utah is known for its fresh powder and impressive ski resorts. Deer Valley Resort is a great place if you want to ski and take impressive photos.

Our family favorite is the St. Regis Deer Valley. You can see their website here Saint Regis Deer Valley Park City.

Amazing ski resort. Amazing terrain. I was able to make it on a beautiful blue bird week. They had enough snow to make it worth it. Great conditions. Steep terrain, but enough for everyone. If you are a skier it is a place you must visit. Worth the price. It can be over the top but the terrain and conditions are worth the price of admission even if it is for one day.

Family friendly ski (only) resort. This place was so much fun. The best groomers and a great balance of greens/blues/blacks. I found the weekday traffic to be lower than other places so there was plenty of room to roam all day. Would do again.

Though the base lodges can give you the impression the place is super crowded the mountain is big enough so skiers are spread far and wide. Like Alta this resort is skiers only. Lots of great trails for all abilities. Lines for the most part are short to non existent... during the week at least. We don't do weekends.

Park City Main Street Historic District

Historical landmark

Sights & Landmarks

Points of Interest & Landmarks

Slide 1 of 6

The Park City Main Street Historic District is a wonderful testament to metal mining towns of yore. After a fire in 1898, the structures were rebuilt in diverse architectural styles, including Queen Anne, Mission/Spanish Revival, and Victorian, to name a few. Often touted as the main attraction, the district consists of 47 historic buildings set on 13 acres along Main Street, which today houses over 100 boutiques, 50 restaurants, and ample outdoor adventure companies.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Main Street Historic District consists of more than 40 buildings built in Victorian, Queen Anne, and Spanish Revival styles. Interestingly, all of these are recreations of even older buildings; a fire destroyed much of the neighborhood in 1898, and everything had to be built again. Today, however, you won’t even know that the district had been touched by flames.

Centered around Main Street is Park City’s handsome Historic District, a picturesque place to stroll around. Home to beautiful old buildings, it has countless shops and restaurants, as well as several excellent art galleries. Following a fierce fire that swept the city in 1898, many brick buildings were rebuilt in an array of architectural styles.

Cool town to visit. Lots of shops to check out. Great views. Plenty of restaurants to choose from, great coffee shops. Lots of souvenir shops too. There are quite a few local arts shops too.

Wow. So many amazing art galleries in one place! And plenty of shopping and great food options as well. I was very impressed that even while looking at photographs, paintings and fur coats that cost more than my car (and some more than my first house) that everyone was so nice and friendly. Not even one person was like that sales lady on Rodeo Drive in the movie Pretty Woman, and many seemed to genuinely enjoy my South Carolina drawl and comparing stories of our travels. I didn't get to ski, but there were plenty of families there that seemed to be having a blast. We found really beautiful views, a wonderful atmosphere, and a truly welcoming group of people.

Leisurely walking around town. Lots of galleries, shops, restaurants. Visit the museum, worth the price of admission. (Cost of admission discounted with coupon)

Locals often start their days by flocking to our picturesque mountains where they connect with visitors from all over the world looking to experience our world-renowned ski resorts and conditions. But the fun doesn’t end when the lifts stop for the day!. Read on to learn where you can keep the party going with friends and family at some of the best après ski bars and restaurants in Park City.

Summon your chauffeur (or, you know, get your Kia from the parking garage) and take to the mountains for some Nature TV. Watch the drama unfold on your screen — er, windshield — as you ogle the aspens near Guardsman Pass or take a two-lane highway up to bucolic Mirror Lake, where the leaves will be in full effect and the evergreens will be ever-green. Park City Mountain Resort is one of the two major ski resorts in Park City, and during the 2002 Winter Olympics held in Salt Lake City, many competitions were held here. It has TV-ready slopes that will absolutely dazzle you when you’re gazing at the world from 10,000 feet high. Trails number in the hundreds, and there are also pipes, lifts, and terrain parks.

Park City has long been among the most chic U.S. ski destinations. Set high in the Wasatch Mountains to the east of Salt Lake City, the Park City Mountain Resort is consistently ranked as one of the top ten North American ski resorts by industry experts. It has more than 50 groomed runs on 3,300 skiable acres that offer a good mix of beginner to expert runs.

Diversions include lounging on beach chairs and around the fire pits making up the Canyons Village ski beach, enjoying live music, roasting s’mores at the Umbrella Bar (Saturdays at 3 p.m.), and mingling with Park City Mountain Patrol’s cute rescue pups (Fridays at 4:30 p.m.). Dinner, games, and dessert at Kimball Junction

Park City Mountain Resort is the Swiss Alps of Utah without all the hassle of customs. This high-alpine hotspot is always bumping with farmers markets, outdoor concerts and extreme rides in the summer, and snowboarding, skiing and hot-cocoa-sipping in winter. Because fun knows no season.

The phenomenal Park City Mountain Resort is an absolute must-visit when in town. Spread across a staggering 17 mountain peaks are 348 runs for you to shoot down, aimed at beginners, intermediates and experts alike. Since being founded in 1963, the resort has expanded considerably.

One can explore the mining trails with a tour from Park City Mine Adventure, or go back in time at the Park City Museum, which was once the City Hall and is still home to Utah’s Territorial Jail, although no longer in function. Day 2: Ski Park City & Après On Mountain

Park City Mountain is great for so many reasons. The mountain itself is huge especially after the recent connection with The Canyons. It’s also very easy to get around for such a large mountain. There’s a ton of terrain for every level of experience. The town of Park City is also a great ski town with everything from cool dive bars to high end art galleries. Highly recommended!

Amazing routes. All skill ranges. Relearned boarding the hard way. Spent a couple days on Park City Mountain. Highly recommended Canyons Village for Intermediate- Advanced as it’s always a little less crowded with the kiddos and beginners. Or stay near the tops of the peaks and send harder routes. Favourite had to be monkey powder (black) where you ski through some tight forest and tree line. Can get very skill heavy. Had amazing fresh powder and snow days the week of Christmas through new year. Routes in the morning were a little delayed on opening. Cause of heavy snow fall. If you’re going to park at the base of the mountains by the lifts plan on getting there early, like 7:30am. Gear up and get in line by 8. Otherwise be prepared to be behind hoards of people in line for the base lifts.

So, I’m definitely more of a Brighton girl, but Park City is starting to grow on me. It’s truly a different experience every time you’re there. I mean, it’s so big, how can it not be?? If it’s your first time here, I’d recommend starting at Canyons Village. I just think it’s more fun over there. Work your way over to the other side of the mountain if you need to. The coolest part about that side is the Town Lift, which takes you right into town. And, there’s a free shuttle that takes you to each base, so you can get lost and still make it back to your car.

Utah Olympic Park

Outdoor Activities

Sprawling park built for the 2002 Olympics featuring ski jumps, bobsled rides, a zip line & museums.

Slide 1 of 5

As host to the 2002 Winter Olympics, Park City has held onto its Olympic legacy in many ways, but especially when it comes to the Utah Olympic Park (UOP). An afternoon spent at the UOP is the perfect opportunity to channel your inner athlete with activities such as zip-lining, bobsled rides, and adventure ropes courses. Professional athletes use the facility to train as well - perhaps you will see a future Olympian practicing his or her aerials above the newly renovated pool!

Visit the site of the 2002 Olympic ski jumping, bobsledding, skeleton, Nordic combined and luge events, which continues to host national competitions. There are 10m, 20m, 40m, 64m, 90m and 120m Nordic ski-jumping hills as well as a bobsled-luge run. The US Ski Team practices here year-round – in summer, the freestyle jumpers land in a bubble-filled jetted pool, and the Nordic jumpers on a hillside covered in plastic. Call for a schedule; it's free to observe.

We did the bobsled experience and it was awesome! So much fun! That being said, if you're having second thoughts, it really isn't as scary as you might think. Very similar to a wooden rollercoaster ride. The park itself is amazing in the winter. Lots of cool things to see!

Our visit the Olympic Park proved to be a highlight our visit to Park City. Three members of our family participated in the Bobsled experience and they were so happy with it. They all came off the mountain sporting wide grins and giggles. The museum which is free to the public proved to be an exceptional display. I loved every exhibit! We all said we would visit again given the chance.

Had so much fun bobsledding! Went so quick but glad I can check this off my bucket list. Only complaint was that they did not enforce mask wearing, which was mandated by the state when I was there. Several people were not wearing their masks on the bus ride up and in the safety video room.
