How can you find out who bought you something from Amazon?

You can find tracking information in your order details. If an order includes multiple items, each may have separate delivery dates and tracking information.

Note:

  • If the estimated delivery date for your package has passed and your tracking information hasn't changed, please allow an additional day or two for the package to be delivered. Usually packages arrive on or shortly after the estimated delivery date.
  • If your package shows as delivered, but you haven't yet received it, go to Find a Missing Package for more information.
  • If you can't find any tracking information for your parcel, it could be due to one of the following reasons:
    • A delay in the updates to the tracking database.
    • Your package contains items sold and fulfilled by a third-party seller on Amazon.com.au. Third-party sellers sometimes don't provide Amazon with tracking information for their orders. To obtain tracking updates you may need to visit the website of the carrier delivering your package.

Contacting Carriers

For orders fulfilled by Amazon AU, in most cases, up to date tracking information is available within Your Orders. In the event that you wish to contact the carrier delivering your package for additional information, see How to Contact our Carriers.

A Thank You List is created automatically for items purchased from your Baby Registry.

To access and manage your Thank You List:

  1. Go to Thank You List & Returns.
  2. To manage your Thank You List, find the person for whom you've written a note. On a mobile device, you need to select the item.
  3. Track the thank you notes you've sent to your gift givers by checking the box next to Already thanked your gifters? Keep in mind, checking this box doesn't send a thank you note, but is for tracking the thank you notes you have personally sent.

Note: Your Thank You List shows the names and addresses of people who bought items from your Baby Registry. Some gift givers don't share their address, so their address isn't displayed. Gifts purchased by the Baby Registry owner don't show in the Thank You List.

Amazon has a neat feature that lets you see, in spreadsheet form, a list of everything you've ever purchased on the site. It's a useful tool if you want to go back in time to re-order something you bought years ago, to see how much you paid for something, or to see when and where an item was shipped.

Amazon's Order History tool, which provides all of this information, can also be used to see all of the returns you've made and the refunds you've received. Also, you can sort by date, so you can split up orders by year or month or just look at specific days.

Here's how to easily see everything you've purchased on Amazon

Request a list of everything you've ever bought from Amazon.

Todd Haselton | CNBC

  • Go to Amazon.com and log in to your account.
  • Tap "Account & Lists" on the top right.
  • Choose "Download order reports" under the "Ordering and shopping preferences" section.
  • Select a report type: "Items" is default and shows all shipments, but use the drop-down to switch to "refunds" or "returns."
  • Select a start and end date.
  • Tap "Request report."

Amazon will begin processing your report. It should only take a couple of seconds but might take longer if you're trying to process everything you've ever ordered and you use Amazon a lot. The report failed twice when I tried to download everything at once, so it's easier (and quicker) to download reports one or two years at a time.

When it's finished, Amazon will email you a link to a spreadsheet that you can download. Open it to see your orders, by date, and information such as who you ordered from, how much you paid, what payment method you used, where you sent the product and more.

How can you find out who bought you something from Amazon?

Amazon has made it extremely convenient to order just about anything you could think of right to your door. But that’s not all; they have also streamlined the process of gift giving by allowing people to easily order packages for others, as well. However, sometimes it is unclear who sent the package, and you would like to thank the person for their generosity.

In other cases, you may be receiving unwanted ‘spam’ gifts from an anonymous sender and wish for them to stop. This article will explain when and how you can figure out who sent you an Amazon package, as well as how to track parcels from people that ordered items on your behalf on Amazon.

It can be frustrating to receive a package from somebody with no note indicating who sent it. Under most circumstances, if a customer wishes to remain anonymous, then Amazon will heed their request. However, according to findyouranswer.com, it is possible to contact Amazon customer support to try and figure out the account that the item was sent from.

To find out who sent an Amazon package, you will have to provide the date and time that you received the package, as well as the package number and item description. Any information about the package that you can gather will be helpful for identifying the order.

Especially in cases where the package is unwanted, Amazon will be happy to trace the order and get the issue resolved. There have been a number of issues with ‘brushing scams’ involving Amazon customers receiving packages they did not order as part of a complex fraud scheme. If you suspect that this is the case in your situation, then you should contact Amazon customer service to report the problem.

For situations in which a well-meaning gift-giver wishes to remain anonymous, however, there may not be enough information about the sender associated with the order to properly trace the gift. In this case, you will have to ask people you know who may have sent you the gift.

Are Amazon Parcels Anonymous?

When buying gifts for somebody on Amazon, customers can opt to leave their own information out of the packing slip that is sent with the package. This is done by people who wish to send gifts anonymously.

If you receive a package that you did not order, and no additional charges have come through on your Amazon account, then it is likely that somebody ordered you a gift with the intention of remaining anonymous.

Amazon actually receives a number of complaints on or around major holidays from people believing they are receiving fraudulent orders. Amazon typically informs them that te gifts were purchased for them by somebody else, which alleviates the fear of a fraudulent purchase.

Amazon packages ordered through a wish list also have the option to send anonymously. If you do intend to buy somebody something from their Amazon wish list, it might be a good idea to make sure they do not intend to purchase the item for themselves, as they may not be notified that it has already been purchased for them if you choose to remain anonymous.

Can I Track an Amazon Package That Someone Else Sent to Me?

Sometimes, people order items for you and it takes a while for them to arrive. In situations like this, it can be useful to track the item yourself, rather than relying on the person who bought it for you to track the item on your behalf.

If you want to track an item that somebody else bought for you on Amazon, you will have to ask them for the tracking information. The tracking number can be used with Amazon tracking, or with local delivery services to track the package.

If the person provided the tracking information to you, this makes it a lot easier. If not, you will have to ask the person for the tracking information. If you are purchasing a gift for somebody else on Amazon, it’s a good idea to hold on to the tracking information, order number, and product ID so that you can provide them to the recipient upon request.

Conclusion…

Amazon makes it easy to buy gifts for people around the holidays. You can even do so anonymously if you want it to be more of a surprise for the person receiving the gift.

If you do purchase items for people on Amazon, however, it’s always a good idea to keep as much information from the order on hand as possible. This makes it much simpler to hand over the tracking information if the person requests it from you. It can be frustrating to receive random packages, or items on your wish list that cannot be tracked.
