How do I make my Arctic Fox ritual darker?

Hey, Fox Fam! Have you had a chance to check out Ritual, the newest addition to the Arctic Fox Hair Color lineup? Today, I’m here to dish all the details about this brand new color, so you can incorporate it into your own self-care ritual like a pro! What’s your Ritual?

Who Is She?

Ritual is a gorgeous, dark burgundy. Our awesome supporters (you!) have been asking for a burgundy color for SO long, and we wanted to make sure we formulated the perfect burgundy for you. One of our darkest shades yet, Ritual is rivaled only by Transylvania as far as pigmentation and coverage, although Purple Rain is a close second! It leans more on the red side, so it will fade in a beautiful dusty rose range. Ritual works perfectly if you’re aiming for a dark red wine shade with a 90’s vibe - and, it’s one of our most work-safe colors if you’re dealing with restrictive dress codes! Whether you’re wanting a look that’s refined and elegant, or dark and mysterious, this versatile tone is sure to match your mood!

Best Uses

So how light does your hair need to be to get this lustrous shade? The good news is that since Ritual is super highly pigmented, its made to be used on a wide variety of base hair colors! While processed hair will always grab pigment more easily compared to unbleached hair due to the way bleaching changes the structure of your hair, the high amount of pigment in Ritual means that even unbleached hair in a light brown range will see a beautiful dark jewel tint. The darker the hair, the darker and more subtle of a burgundy tint you’ll see, but the color will always show more visibly in the sunlight or bright indoor lighting! Ritual will work very well to give a deep berry tint to dark unbleached hair, to cover up another warm color effectively if you’re trying to color-correct, or to give you a dark, dimensional burgundy to lightened hair. Since it is so pigmented, you’ll need to make sure to rinse it well in cold water to prevent excessive bleeding. 

Mixing

The best way to make a semi-permanent color even more versatile is to mix it up! The possibilities are endless when you mix and match colors in the Arctic Fox lineup. Add some Ritual to Transylvania to give you a more warm-toned black that will fade in a more violet range while staying dark and true to color. You can make a deep crimson or blood red by adding a bit of Ritual to Poison or Wrath. For a more purple-based burgundy, try mixing equal amounts of Purple Rain and Ritual! For lighter colors, add a few drops of Ritual to Sterling for a smoky mauve or to Arctic Mist diluter for a dusty rose. Dusty Rose

Since Ritual has a smoky undertone for that deep muted burgundy color, it dilutes down perfectly to a soft dusty rose on platinum hair! Try just a few drops of Ritual added to a base of Arctic Mist diluter to get this delicate floral shade.

Pumpkin Spice

Natural redhead tones are in! To kick this lively color up a few notches, use a base of Porange with a dollop of Ritual mixed in. This gives you a vibrant pumpkin spice tone, perfect for that almost-natural gingery hue!

Dark Berry

Berry tones are always a fresh pick, and this deep sultry shade is perfect for a refined, elegant look. Use equal parts Ritual and Blue Jean Baby for a dark and jammy blackberry color!

Smoky Mauve

Sterling is one of our most versatile mixer shades, giving a steely tint to any color that’s added to it. Try mixing a dollop of Ritual to a base of Sterling for a smoky light mauve; Sterling is blue-based, it will help bring the color to more of a purple mauve tone. Or, since Ritual can fade more silvery or gray on hair with a strong yellow-blonde tone, you can just use straight Ritual and enjoy the fade!
