How long after window tint can you roll down windows Reddit

Opening, most places will tell you somewhere in the 24-72 hour range. I usually wait at least 72 because I'm paranoid.

Washing the inside of the windows, I would wait a least a week or two. Washing the car is fine whenever, it shouldn't bother the tint on the inside of the glass, though I'd still wait 72 hours just to be safe.

It takes time for the tint to cure and adhere to the glass, but its dependent on several factors.

You can try it, and it'll probably be okay if it's been at least half a day, but you don't want the friction to mess it up. If you went through a shop, they may not cover the defect.

So long story short, I got my windows tinted yesterday and they were done around 6:30 pm.

Today as I left work I saw two dogs running amuck in the road and just sort of instinctively rolled down my drivers side window for a second, then said “f**k” to myself as I rolled it back up.

Didn’t hear any crunching or see any visible damage. Took it back to the place I got it done and one of the guys looked at it for a minute and said I should be ok, and if there is a problem, I got a lifetime warranty so they can repair/replace the tint if there is a problem.

I am probably overthinking this, but has this happened to any of you before and it was ok?

It really depends on where you go, that is not acceptable at my shop. I personally would take it back and have them redo it.

We digitally cut every piece of film and then we file and shave it to the edge absolute zero light gap.

Also the amount of dirt Specs along the top edge of your window is again absolutely unacceptable.

What type of window film did you get?

$200 for a 4-door car, $300 for an SUV, $75 per window, depending on the grade of tint used. The place that trained me only carried 2 lines of film, carbon film and ceramic film. The weird thing was I liked the SolarFX carbon film better than the Suntek ceramic film because the SolarFx had better scratch resistance.

I just found it odd that they used 2 different manufacturers for the film purchase, but they did buy it from a distributor versus being in partnership with the manufacturer.

Had my windows tinted today on a Honda Accord and girlfriend completely missed/forgot my warning and rolled down the driver side window 2/3rd of the way down 30min later.

Am I safe as long as I don't see any peeling on the bottom, or is there a chance it can peel or shift entirely within the seal that's not visible?

How long after window tint can you roll down windows Reddit

Don’t know where else to post this but I’d like to know if this is a normal thing or not before I call the shop in a rage. This is the first time having a car nice enough for tints, so I took my car to a “professional” shop in a nearby city. Called all the shops for quotes and since I plan on selling my car eventually I wanted the best I could get. After $250 for all 5 windows I was very happy with the way it looked. The film brand they used is Llumar, which if I’m not mistaken is a good brand. They told me to wait a couple days to roll the windows down, so I did. It’s now a couple days later and I’ve noticed after rolling them down, there is a small lip of non-tinted glass on the very top of all four windows. I really don’t feel like this is normal and I’d like to get someone’s opinion. It’s not noticeable when they’re all the way up, but it’s noticeable when they’re down from the inside and out. It’s about a few centimeters I’d say but not anything crazy. I feel like somebody else would definitely notice this if they were trying to buy my car in the future. Thoughts? TL;DR- paid for all my windows to be tinted and all 4 passenger windows have a pretty small but noticeable lip of non-tinted glass at the very top. Should I have it all redone?

While you can’t roll it down for a few days, the top going down is not an issue. Watch for damage to the trim as some installers prop up the window to tint it and sometimes forget and close the door. My installer removed the glass to tint it (or I was told, I didn’t see them do it). I did have some issues with bubbles on the very top, not sure if it was related. The installer redid the tint.

If you want your car window tint to look perfect, what you do in the first few days after installation is crucial. Eventually, any quality tinted window film installed by Car Audio City will prove durable and cleanly applied. However, the window tint will be vulnerable while its adhesives dry, so even little, honest mistakes can damage an otherwise perfect application.

A common question from customers who have just put tinted windows on their car, is “Why Can't I Roll Down My Windows After Tinting?” The answer is that the adhesives holding the tinted window film in place take time to dry, and until they do, friction caused by rolling down the window could scrape film from the glass. Leave them rolled up at least two to four days.

Here Are 4 Things You Can Do to Ensure Your New Window Tint Experience Goes Well

1. Be Patient With Window Tint Bubbles

Everybody who lived through the 1980s knows about the dreaded air bubbles that can become trapped in cheap window film, ruining a window tint forever. However, window tint bubbles you notice after an install are much more likely to be caused by moisture, and should evaporate within a few days, as the tint cures. As for how long bubbles stay in window tint, times will vary depending on climate, but give it four days at least.

2. Skip the Car Wash

Another question new tinted window customers commonly ask is, “When can you wash your car after tinting windows?” The good news here is that the tinted window film is applied to the inside of the car, so a new window tint won’t be under threat if you drive through dirt or mud. However, washing those windows afterwards may add enough moisture to impede the drying process; hold off until you’re sure the tint has cured completely.

3. Let the Tint Dry

It takes a little patience, but the bottom line is you want to do everything you can to let tinted window film dry before doing anything that could damage it. San Diego sunshine can help, and in general window tint cure times are shorter in summer, meaning two to four days.

However, the window tint cure time during winter and rainy months can extend the wait as long as a month. That’s going to be less common for a window tint installation in San Diego, but if you find that’s the case, there are things you can do to speed up window tint drying. For example, park in direct sunlight on clear days, but if you can, park inside on cool or rainy days, as well as overnight.

4. Turn Up the Music and Drive - But Don't Roll Down Your Windows After Tinting

Once enough time has passed, you may go ahead and proceed with routine use of your car, knowing your tinted window film will remain ins good shape. We recommend leaving them rolled up anyway, cranking up your car stereo, and going for a ride in your newly tinted automobile. Don’t worry, the cars next to you won’t see you singing along.
