How to Get Away with Murder season 6 aired on ABC in the US between September 2019 and May 2020. At long last, on December 9th, the long-awaited sixth season arrived on Netflix

The climactic season concludes the story of Annalise Keating, Middleton University professor and criminal defence attorney, along with the group of loyal students who have been with her from the start.

Everyone’s focus is on graduating from Middleton and, of course, finding Laurel and Christopher who went missing at the end of the previous season.

With the images of confusion still fresh in the minds of fans, the focus quickly switches to the conclusion of Annalise’s court trial and after a long and tense process, we finally see her giving her closing arguments.

Meanwhile, the plight of Michaela, Connor and Oliver is brought to the fore. Connor is due to go to prison and a huge falling out with Oliver leads to the two getting divorced.

Back at Annalise’s trial, she is found not guilty by the jury but as the flash-forward hinted at, the big twist of the episode is set to come on the courthouse steps.

How to Get Away with Murder’s ending explained

As Annalise is giving her statement to the press, all hell breaks loose when Frank emerges and shoots Governor Lynne Birkhead on the courthouse steps, killing her.

Frank is shot by the courthouse security and lies dying in the arms of Bonnie. However, in a cruel twist of fate, it’s revealed that Bonnie had also been shot, caught in the crossfire, and tragically dies in the arms of Annalise.

The episode then ends with Annalise’s funeral, teased from the first episode of season 6, and a montage of where the remeaning members of the Keating 5 ended up.

Rather than dying after her court trial, Annalise actually went on to live a long and full life and simply died of old age.

We see her dancing with Tegan, who admitted her feeling for Annalise earlier in the episode, but rather than staying together, it appears that Annalise ventured off into the world and can be seen holding multiple hands as she progresses through life, finally ending with an old Annalise, walking alone on a sunny, sandy beach.

Meanwhile, it’s revealed that Connor and Oliver got back together after Connor’s stint in prison while we see Michaela getting sworn in as a judge.

The final scene shows Christopher Castillo, the spitting image of his father Wes, cycling through Middleton campus, about to start a new chapter.

We see him enter a busy classroom as he introduces the students to “Criminal Law 100, or as my mentor liked to call it, How to Get Away with Murder.”

The legal drama show received a lot of praise for its acting performances. Moreover, it has also been a huge financial success with millions of tuned-in viewers. 

This show got many awards and nominations. Davis has received critical acclaim; became the first black woman to win the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama Series. She had won two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series. She also got the Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series. This series received a GLAAD Media Award for Best Drama Series.
